I mean, I think a lot of movies just skip past shock and anguish for that reason and fast-forward to the person being on the mend. It's also really hard for terrible actors like Carrie Fisher to portray wailing, tears mixing with your snot, going catatonic etc.

Ari Aster sneaks a lot of subversive Jewiness into his films but I respect the way he actually shows characters reacting to trauma like losing family members.
