Anyone notice the modern audience saying Tron Legacy was a bad movie?
When did this start?
Anyone notice the modern audience saying Tron Legacy was a bad movie?
When did this start?
Opening weekend.
Tron Legacy is absolutely visually amazing, great music, but the story is mediocre.
The issue is there is a severe lack of world building. Sam (the main character) is thrown into the world of Tron, and the first thing he wants to do is escape.
- We know nothing about Tron society.
- We know nothing about how programs live.
-We know nothing about the "resistance".
- We only get to see them at a Bar once. That's it. Then they escape.
We needed to see more of the Tron world.
You right, Minecraft was the better movie.
I needed to know what CLU's tax policy was
I needed to know what CLU's tax policy was
This would unironically be very interesting to know.
Does Clu still have admin powers and can create entire cities from scratch like we saw in the opening of the movie? Or did he lose that power?
How exactly does Clu create soldiers for his military?
When Sam's dad blew up Clu's invasion force, does that mean he killed millions of programs? Is Tron society screwed now?
You complain about this, but it does add to the Tron universe.
I love Quora.
I agree. I am a huge fan of the original and while legacy was visually impressive with a nice sound track, it lacked any soul. The story was ass and all over the place it seems and they basically cut Tron himself out of the movie that bears his name. Unforgivable.
based
How exactly does Clu create soldiers for his military?
when they show all the captured programs flynn says he can't make any new ones he has to reprogram existing ones
also play the game if you actually care about any of this
very nice numbers
Roger Ebert: "Tron: Legacy, a sequel made 28 years after the original but with the same actor, is true to the first film: It also can't be understood, but looks great. Both films, made so many years apart, can fairly lay claim to being state of the art."
It was mediocre when it came out. Its really good now when you compare it to all the slop we've gotten since in comparison
I can really only tolerate in 3D. It drags ass in several parts. They needed to cut like 40-50min out of that movie.
This would unironically be very interesting to know.
This but ironically
also play the game if you actually care about any of this
Seriously?
I didn't even know there was a game.
I also think it's a problem that I have to play a game to understand the movie plot.
You should watch Uprising. It takes place in a neighbouring town in The Grid to the movie's city and the good guys work in a garage.
You don't have to play the game to understaunderstand the movie's plot. The movie explains its own plot just fine. You're looking for extra worldbuilding, which is a different concept.
When it came out. Terrible shame too, because all that talent went to waste on a nothing story.
I remember the xbox 360 video game for this movie was surprisingly decent
You're looking for extra worldbuilding, which is a different concept.
The movie did not meet the minimum requirements for worldbuilding. It was 25% short.
I don't think it would have needed a plot if they'd shaved off a good 30-40 minutes and replaced the light jet scene with something that had the physicality of the IRL/disc/bike action scenes in the first half.
That first hour is like a digital Fury Road - relentless but memorable action that doesn't need plot to keep your interest. The cycle scene is technically all CGI but it still has physicality bc you're seeing things bang into one another and bodies go flying or get smashed to pieces.
It comes to a screeching halt right after that scene around the 1hr mark and then you realize there is nothing going on under the hood; there isn't a single memorable scene from that point on. The light jet finale is weightless generic CGI fare.
It's a shame they ditched Koshitski bc aside from that last scene he obviously understands action and how to make it work with CG better than most.
I saw Tron Legacy on opening night. It was trash. It was never good.
Didnt it also flop commercially?
You simply have bad opinions.
I saw it at the dollar theater lol. Hard to believe it's been almost 15 years.
Bad argument. Look at the movies that don't flop commercially.
It was very forgettable
sexo quorra
Thirteen? What are you doing in Cuddy's computer?
youtu.be
opening title
Too bad the movie was boring.
It was just a bland script.
Uprising was way better than it had any right to be.
It's part of Disney's stochastic marketing tactic for Tron: Ares. Trash the last iteration to make the new one look good by comparison.
So its bad and it also flopped, that means its good? uh..
no way that old fart Trent can top this.
Especially with some slop-disney director.
They needed to cut like 40-50min out of that movie.
Wrong. They needed MORE time to explain Quorra's people. All we know about them is from character statements and then they got genocided and the audience is supposed to care?
if it was forgettable why we getting a sequel?
Also they actually modernized it really well, the original was ugly and dated.
Disney has never, ever done this.
There is nothing wrong with the original.
This
Tron Legacy fucking sucked, the main character was a flatline who went from being pouty in the real world to doing extreme sports shit in Tron world in ten minutes flat. The chick and both jeff bridges were cardboard cutouts. It failed to address any of the interesting ideas from the first movie. The thesis of the work is "If you're cool, you can fight bad guys and get the chick."
The sequel where they come to the real world is going to be a ridiculous piece of dog shit
It was always bad
FLYNN, AM I STILL TO COMPLETE THE NEXT STEP OF YOUR MASTER PLAN?
muh story
read a book if you want a good narrative
film is a visual-auditory medium and the visuals and music are on such another level that made it worth seeing on release
It was always shit. From the lame phoned-in Daft Stunk soundtrack, to the cheap, nasty american slop that was regurgitated through a filter of greasy kikes. It was awful and a spit in teh face of the original. You know it's bad when the new one is being marinaded in Jared Leto's rotten stench.
The fucking icing on the cake is that Tron: Uprising was amazing, and they canned it half way through on a cliffhanger.
Tron, every Tron, is 99% eye-candy and 1% story. It's like watching fireworks. If you want to enjoy yourself, you have to be there for the right reason and have the correct expectations.
This is also why it's a dumbass idea to try to move the story into the "real world".
jared leto
fucking why
2010
the first thing he wants to do is escape.
If I was all of the sudden in a physical reality that differed that wildly from my own, the first thing I would do is want to escape.
what smoothbrained retard would just stand there going "ooooooh" and "ahhhhhhh"?
any rational person is going to be freaked the fuck out.
I remember this being one of the most shilled flicks before release, it was promoted everywhere
Then it was released and fell flat
this movie's legacy is letting a youtuber coining the term 'born yesterday'. now it's extremely cringy to even watch a short clip of this movie.
the original looks like a 80s arcade game
legacy looks like blade runner for kids
why we getting a sequel?
Because it's a Disney IP and they periodically make movies to keep the IP in the public consciousness, no matter how bad it is. I really didn't like Legacy, it didn't really capture the sense of wonder the original had. It was mostly just special effects with an OK story. I will say that I appreciate it more today than when it was released, and I'm not looking forward to Aries at all. Looks fucking stupid.
No I never noticed that. It wasn’t a hit movie so I guess audiences always thought it was bad
No one did, you absolute mental asylum patient. Seek help and then God, Jew.
It's a fun way to spend an afternoon. Olivia Wilde is pretty, the soundtrack is good, the visuals are nice to look at. Just turn your brain off and whip your dick out and go to town, anons.
I miss daft punk
who went from being pouty in the real world to doing extreme sports shit in Tron world in ten minutes flat.
anon he jumped off a building and was doing motorcycle jumps in the real world, before he got into the grid.
those skills transferred to the relevant actions while in the grid, meanwhile he sucked ass at any other action stuff until much later on in the film
and they canned it half way through on a cliffhanger.
it got a full, planned season, and clu winning as a foregone conclusion by the fact that we know he's in control of the grid in legacy. if you thought the good guys were going to win in uprising, you weren't paying attention.
