However, it's pretty clear that the demon didn't work like that and that Bev, while hot and I want to fuck her very badly, is just a hamfisted attempt at jabbing at devout, old school, fire and brimstone Christians. She's ruthless, and it's clear she's always been ruthless, and it wasn't the demon that forced her hand to poison the dog at the beginning of the show. She's ruthless, because it's her vision of what God would ask of her, and when there is a "God" that suddenly asks this of her, she's 100% on board with no questions whatsoever. Again, it's a hamfisted critique of warmongering, blood-thirsty, xenophobic Christians, who would, probably according to Mike, take the deal with Beezelbub if it meant seeing the wicked punished. Bev wants the approval of the one closest with God, or, as it turns out, something as powerful or influential as God would work just as well.
