In response to a question regarding several influential bloggers’ posts on China’s countermeasures against US tariffs including restrictions on US agricultural imports and Hollywood films, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Tuesday that “we generally do not comment on online remarks. We have made it quite clearly on China’s stance. China will continue to take firm and strong measures to safeguard our legitimate rights and interests.”
Chinese Wechat account Niutanqin said in a post on Tuesday that China could take six countermeasures in response to US’ another 50 percent tariff threat on Chinese imports. In addition to restrictions on US agricultural imports and Hollywood films, other four measures also include ban on US poultry imports, suspension of China-US cooperation on fentanyl, countermeasures in the field of trade in services, as well as investigation on the benefits US companies have gained from intellectual property in China.
