When you think about it, it's a miracle the LOTR films got made. Just a bit longer and they wouldn't have avoided the modern touch.
When you think about it, it's a miracle the LOTR films got made...
2000s was a great little period when you had films like gladiator and lotr winning oscars, instead of soulless oscar bait.
They were the last gasp of western civilization. Ironic really. Denethor was right.
Howard Shore's score does so much heavy lifting in these films, I imagine even Tolkien himself would've been moved listening to it
fotr only good one. other 2 are progressively worse slop that deviate so much from the source material that they completely destroy the meaning and themes of multiple scenes and storyarcs.
I don't really care about LotR. They're okay, but they already feel capeshitty.
Adaptations are meant to be pragmatic, LOTR films convey the message in the best and most accessible way possible. Be a purist all you want but nobody likes you.
I don't really care about LotR
Ask me how I know you're not white.

They are ruining Tolkien as much as they possibly can right now. Not even Lord of the Rings was spared from the cultural subversion of the West.
FotR is the best film, but it’s disingenuous to call the others slop. They’re just a bit less polished. Exact same with the books by the way, but at a certain point who cares cause all the payoffs in RotK - both versions - work as they should
It's for children you know. Literal wizards and elves and ninjas and shit.

cringe
Yeah.
Just a bit longer and they wouldn't have avoided the modern touch
Gandalf doing shaolin monk flippy shit
Orlando Bloom doing increasingly ridiculous capeshit stunts
Arwen introduced as badass independent woman
Aragorn doing the faggy self-doubting antihero shit
Merry and Pippin being bumbling stoner retards
Gimli le funny dwarf
Frodo is a weak faggot from the get-go
Hollywood cliches everywhere
They didn't avoid it.
facebook frog poster writes dumb shit
like clockwork
Gyandorufu
Name one thing i was wrong about.
Exact same with the books by the way,
Bullshit, ROTK is the best one.
Watching the appendices gave me a whole new appreciation for these movies. Every person involved was so locked in to make the best possible movie they could. There will be nothing like it again.
didn't watch them until years after they came out, sort of avoided them for some reason. finally watched the three director cuts in a weekend and was bored stiff.
saw bits of the films a few years after that and liked them more, but still not something I'd fully enjoy.
yet, they're good films, complete feeling as a trilogy, and feel like a book story, if not the books. memorable characters, voices, looks cohesive, effects are generally alright.
it's something decent of quality that people have available to see. don't know how peter jackson made them, I started watching his stuff with braindead and his first film as a double header on a video cassette.
watched the three director cuts in a weekend and was bored stiff
yeah bro, just skimmed through 10 hours of film quickly over the weekend, boring stuff frfr

Just a bit longer and they wouldn't have avoided the modern touch.
Its a fucking CGI shitscape.
Never read the books but yes the first film was decent and I would watch it again, the second and third felt like returnnof the Jedi tier sequels.
2000s was probably the best period to live ever in human history, it's all downhill from there
dude Two Towers and Return of the King are bad actually!
Sick of this shit.
That's why you start with the theatrical cuts and also you don't have to watch all three films in the same day.
So you joined a thread just to tell everyone that you are a fag?
Yeah I hate when characters have character traits too.
Star Wars 2.0?

go back and stay there dumb nigger

I'd say it was the 90's. We were so innocent back then, and the internet ruined it.
This. 90s best. 00s was the start of the rot. 9/11 took away the comfy. The internet was cool in that era though, definitely 00s is the best internet era. 90s internet was too static. 10s was turbo cancer and we never recovered.
LOTR is not called nerd bible for nothing. People would have worked on in for free.
I've literally never heard anyone use the phrase "nerd bible", that sounds cringe as fuck. LOTR is a good book though. I like Silmarillion more.
Orlando tried to ruin it with his skateboard shield down stairs shooting arrows stunt, thankfully vigo saved it
NTA but people do call the Silmarillion the Lord of the Rings bible to be fair. But I'm not sure I've ever heard of LOTR being called the nerd Bible as the other anon suggests
That's a pretty neat poster but I have a rule about hanging pictures of men in my kino kave
AND MY AXE
Lord of rangz
they're gonna ruin it with a new trilogy
The 1950s were actually the best decade to live in.
