Are we going to see anymore blockbuster book to movies adaptation? perhaps book to tv series?
Are we going to see anymore blockbuster book to movies adaptation? perhaps book to tv series?
Yes. Adaptations are the future of cinema. Just look at the Minecraft movie. Zooms have to understand/like the source material though.
this would require another massive series of books. do you see Gen A, or Gen B as readers? I don’t. I think the next thing will be video game adaptations
Who reads books in the big 2025 tho
we get several book to movie adaptations a year, anon
i mean, thunderbolts is just coming out in a month
I think they're making several Hunger Games movies
im not counting comics.
the future
A lot of successful movies have been adaptations, dating all the way back to when film was a fresh medium.
lol excellent bait
Can we please get a zoomette in one of them? Emma and Jenna aren’t cutting it as the zoom queens. Millie was next up but she fell of hard.
Hollywood has moved on to comic book adaptations. See: The Walking Dead, The Boys, Invincible, Y: The Last Man, Old, Whatever Mark Millar shits out, Hellboy, etc.
I heard Eight Billion Genies is getting an adaptation. Also Geoff Johns Ghost Machine stuff I think is picked up. And Tom King’s comic.
Hollywood has moved on to comic book adaptations
theyve always been this though, superhero films have dominated hollywood since x men 2000 laid the ground work.
We need folks to write more blockbuster books
No one is writing good fiction anymore
America is a cultural wasteland and the chain all starts at the library..
Weak library means weak minds, weak stories, weak movies, weak art, weak culture.
We need folks to write more blockbuster books
I got you in a couple years
Are you a writer?
On the come up. Some of my stories quite do well on various fanfiction websites. I have no clue how publishing shit works nor do I have the money to do so hence the “wait a couple years”
That’s different because no one knows what any of those are, the tv show almost acts as a commercial for the comic so people go and read the comic to see where the show came from, it’s the cart before the horse. Harry Potter and tolkien and such were massive book series *before* they became movies, people already knew about the books. Your average person doesn’t know fuck all about comics, they might know about Batman or Spider-Man sure but they don’t know any of the stories from the comics, they don’t know what dark knight returns is, they don’t know what death of Gwen Stacey is, they only find out about it from the movies. And they sure as shit don’t know about nobody properties like Thunderbolts, and those are the kinds of movies that are only getting made because they are piggybacking the success of your Batman’s and Spider-Man’s. A thunderbolts movie is not being made because thunderbolts comics are flying off the shelves.
The real analogy is video games, everyone knows about super Mario and Minecraft and shit. That’s the future of adaptation, the comic book steam is running out and these comics are just glorified screenplays most of the time anyway.
Well godspeed anon I hope you do well
Thanks man.
Yeah, but now Hollywood has taken a closer eye to non-DC&Marvel comics.
most people know the boys and the walking dead.
These comics are literally made *to be adapted as tv shows*. Your Tom Kings of the world really just want to be Hollywood screenwriters, they all hate comics and want to escape, and the comics they put out are functionally storyboards for a movie pitch. It’s just not a fair comparison , it’s hardly an “adaptation” at all in this sense, it’s a direct pipeline. Tolkien did not write LOTR with the intention that it would become a movie
We need folks to write more blockbuster books
why, none of you fucks would read them. guys dont read books, much less buy them. thats why lit has been taken over by terrible chick lit.
Absolutely fucking nobody knew those were comics until the show came out, that’s my point. If you were a comics readers you know, sure, but comic readers are in a bubble and super out of touch, they have no idea just how niche comics are, they’re one of the most niche things you can be into, and that was even more the case ten-twenty years ago when those comics were coming out. Absolutely fucking NOBODY knew about the walking dead comics or boys comics. EVERYBODY knew about Harry Potter before the movie came out
why, none of you fucks would read them
because none of them are good enough to be read. in this day in age if you make a good film or book, people will tune into it. literally no one has made a book good enough to get people to read them in masses like harry potter or hunger games.
because none of them are good enough to be read
how would you know?
again you and everyone else dont read
people will read if you get them to.
Zoomers read manga instead of novels, the next big thing is manga live adaptation
You write them for coming of age teens so it appeals to a wide demographic
Adults love that stuff because they themselves haven't internalized the lessons to grow up. It's why manchildren are obsessed with PG13 franchises
Only from female authors.
This
We're going to go back to the 2000s-early 2010s, where every studio was chasing their own Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings. Chances are that just like then, we'll get a mix of bombs, middling successes that get a sequel before being quietly canned, and the odd breakout aimed at 40 year old legbeards based on a book aimed at 12 year old girls.
I'll piss myself laughing if they're forced to adapt what's going on in self publishing.
Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings.
well theres no source material that was as big as these two so it probably wont happen unless the movie is really good to make up for it
5 years
There wasn't then either, but it didn't stop them trying to replicate it.
Well apart from twilight, I suppose.
I'll piss myself laughing if they're forced to adapt what's going on in self publishing.
ngl i dont think they would stoop that low
They will.
You will watch the self insert femcoomer monster fucker books
You will watch the isekai litrpg
You will not watch the Chuck Tingle adaptions, because he's too kino for this world to handle.
Zooms have to understand/like the source material though.
Zooms don’t read.
dungeon crawler carl is getting a series from seth macfarlane's production company, that started out self-published
zoomers stopped going to theaters until the minecraft movie. if someone makes a good book zoomers will consume
I hope they like isekai, cultivation and statblock autism, because that's what they're getting at the moment.
statblock autism,
?
Have you ever read a fantasy book and thought to yourself
this is all too abstract, what I need is someone to break down everything into video game terms and bloat the book's length an extra 20k words by repeatedly telling me what the main character's stats/abilities/misc are
?
That's statblock autism. The unholy mutation of Litrpg that will not shut the fuck up about every minute detail, despite the fact almost none of it will matter in the slightest.
first you need books as big as the ones youve listed in the OP. thats not gonna happen anytime soon.
