What am in for
What am in for
2 seasons of kino followed by 6 seasons of slop
2 seasons of kino
Being seasons 2 and 4
Lots of wasted potential.
seasons 1, 2 and 4 are very good. the rest of the show is ok.
Seasons 1&2 are kino. Skip the rest.
A fun comedy about a young scientist who has his experiments ruined by his sister, Deedee
Seasons 6, 7 and 8 of the original series are slop.
And then New Blood and Original Sin are a return to form.
So for the whole Dexter universe it's 7 good seasons and 3 bad ones so far imo
The only season I didn't like was the one with with Tom Hanks' kid.
Every other season is good.
why do people here hate season 5? Sure it was a step down from 4 but it's not terrible
is that the one with the chicks in barrels?
yeah, with jonny lee miller as the bad guy
Season 4 is overrated because of Lithgow. It's actually quite mid.
I enjoyed this post
mid
opinion discarded, little zoomie
A 5/10 series that would be 10/10 if they had reversed the order of the seasons.
Dexter starting as a recluse innawoods killer and ending up finding a woman and kids he can love and a way to fit into society as a killer is a FAR more compelling plotline. With Doakes catching on to Dexter but after seeing that he only deals with other degenerates, still doesnt like him but keeps his mouth shut as long as Dexter doesnt hurt an innocent person.
Kino
I kind of liked season 3
I just started watching, but Miguel was pretty good.
So far it's 4 > 2 > 3 > 1. I thought Brian was cringe.
A series which was pretty good but could have been legendary if they didn't kill the best character and main source of dramatic tension Doakes in season one. It's still one of the greatest cinematic blunders of all time.
I kind of disagree.
The overall point is that the concept of a "good" serial killer is bullshit. It was always going to end that way. Trinity kind of IS that process in reverse.
I'm not talking about killing scumbags, that's based, but a person who kills BECAUSE he enjoys it isn't going to be an ideal member of society.
Doakes isn't used much in the books, less than the show even.
He's in the background, then gets all his limbs cut off and his tongue removed.
They probably didn't know what to do with him, and him being suspicious of Dexter for 6 seasons would have gotten tired and made him seem inept.
It's probably good he went out on a high.
it was season 2, but yeah they should have held on to him till season 5 or so.
Rita was an annoying unfaithful cunt.
one season (season one) of kino then disappointment
i dropped the show after s2e1 and pretended it ended with s1 and felt all the more happy with my time
Ignore this.
Season 4 is peak.
Isn't that season 2?
dude john lithgow
This; Lithgow is amazing but he came way too late. He should have been the S3 villain. S3 was abysmal and when the wheels fell off.
At least he got one of those thicc Showtime checks out of it. You eat good on Showtime money.
I like it, prefer it to Trinity season. It was Dexter's return to his own life.
It's 1 > 2 > 4 > 3 > 5
Nah.
Trinity is probably the best portrayal of an actual serial killer the show ever did.
He's interesting because he has a family that looks superficially healthy and suburban but are actually a bunch of Stockholm'd prisoners in his house.
But in reality he's unrealistic. The great thing, the real magic of Dexter S1 is THAT is the perfect example of a fully-realized killer who does it because it's his life. Dexter is autistic, can't form attachments to people, only has a gf because she has no interest in sex and helps make him look normal. And his only real desire in life is to kill people. He becomes a cop simply because it gives him the tools he needs to abide by his father's autistic Code.
Dexter was a very interesting character. The problem with a show with staff writers is the character quickly becomes Flanderized. I think you need one or two writers with a vision to write good character drama. Otherwise you are just making some syndicated slop, and Dexter became that.
S1 though. Kino.
Brian is like a Dahmer.
Trinity is like a Bundy or Gacy.
Stop after season 4. That's what I did. Nothing after seemed worth watching.
Best part of the show was Dexter's beach condo. Fuck I wish I had that.
Alcoholic suburban housewife kino…thats who this show was made for
absolute kino
Anons will argue what seasons are good or shitty but it will hook you and you will watch the shitty later seasons because dexter the character is so compelling despite being such a corny edgelord
I'm on season 4 right now, and I don't know if I like Dexter or not.
The LT is a cunt, Angel is a cuck, Masuka is cool, Quinn is cool, Deb is kind of annoying, Rita's a bitch.
I think Doakes or Lundy were my favorites
I'm still watching because the concept intrigues me, I think. I like Harry, too, or his Dark Passenger
Man the intro music vid for this show is an all time great and I can still visualize and hear the theme even after 20 years.
What happened to the guy Trinity called a faggot in the alleyway?
I thought he was going to be the third victim, but did he kill him off screen?
unfaithful
Dexter did it first with Ms Pardon My Tits
Stop when you finish season 4. If you're already lukewarm to the show you're gonna hate it cause after 4 is the worst parts of dexter
idk enough about any of them to put an archetype on them. I think you're just linking Dahmer to Brian because he liked to kill his lovers. Brian was really very different. Dahmer was kind of a mess, and it's only because gay shit was so subversive at the time that he got away with his killing for so long.
Fag turns up dead, no one much cares. Beautiful college girl shows up dead, people start getting serious. Bundy got snatched because he wasn't smart enough to stay ahead of the cops forever.
I will submit Bundy was the most entertaining of the serial killers, for his many escapades, and his natural charisma. He looks like my father, and at least one person has said I look like Bundy.
I can't recall 100% but weren't they in that whole "woman throws a fit and it seems like you've broken up, but she's actually just mad and expecting you to grovel, while not communicating properly" phase?
Brian didn’t love anyone except his bro. He just pretended to love women so he could kill them.
No, I mean in the sense that Dahmer was a lunatic that barely fit in.
People like Bundy, Gacy, and perhaps a perfect example, the BTK killer were more adept at putting up the facade of normality.
Agreed about S3, I wanted to punch my screen any time I saw Jimmy Smits.
I thought Ellen Wolf getting blown the fuck out was funny.
I wonder if she was so sassy with wine aunt energy while getting strangled to death.
Otherwise, forgettable.
Was Rita still a realtor or whatever in S4. They just dropped that shit after Miguel died
Show had no idea what to do with her.
