What the fuck happened to this man
What the fuck happened to this man
The Bill Burr disease has taken one of our best artists
ah shit that is fiona apple
Its just incredible that nobody as watched any of his movies since the Master, which people only watched because of There Will Be Blood. His new movie will bomb, just look at all the comments and everyone is confused about why Leo is doing some cheap looking indie movie. His movies all look like indieslop now when they used to look like epics. Not to mention he's making a BLM movie at the worst possible time, its literally Assassins Creed Shadows all over again, where it was clearly written and put into production around 2020 and is now coming out when the zeitgeist has dramatically 180d
Who the fuck is this?
And just look at here and X, not a single person is talking about this trailer. Imagine if the new Tarantino trailer came out yesterday? Everyone would be talking about it. Remember around 2007/8 when TWBB and Inglorious Basterds came out and everyone was comparing these two filmmakers? Now it seems silly. PTA is more comparable to Richard Linklater at this point than he is Tarantino.
Exactly
Brady Corbet + Lol Crawley >>>> PTA
Is it actually meant to be BLM related? The novel it's based off seems to have nothing to do with it, but I don't know how he plans to fit it into a modern day setting
Did god just possess him to make There Will Be Blood?
Never read vineland but it sounds like he's taking a Reagan-era political story and translating it to the 2020 Trump era and the protagonists are black women and a racemixer, so I'm not sure what else it could be about
Recently watched PDL as my first PTA and thought it was shit, should i give it another try?
Zoomer opinion. Commit suicide.
There Will Be Blood is the great one. If that doesnt do it for you none of his movies will.
Did god just possess him to make There Will Be Blood?
It was the last time it felt like he was really trying to make a great movie. The Master had that feeling but more personal and mysterious, but looking back it was the first sign of what was to come which is he stopped giving a shit after TWBB and just wants to fuck around with his buddies making a film. Dropping his cinematographer and doing it all himself was the final nail. He just doesnt seem interested in making movies for anyone but himself and his little orbit of Hollywood friends.
He had 3 daughters and it broke his brain.
The crazy thing is The Brutalist was basically an indie flick shot for under $10 million. OBAA has a fucking $140 million production budget.
Im so confused. It looks like PTAs cheapest movie yet. I saw one street explosion and one car flip but other than that where did the money go?
Why do people talk like they've seen the movie? How can you pass such summary judgement off a 3 minute trailer? I'm so confused.
Because every shot in the trailer looks like shit? Also all of his movies used to have 10/10 trailers that id watch dozens of times, this just looks so ugly and bad
Link later is better. And yes, this movie is going to lose a lot of money.
Hes made like 20 movies after the master and no one has seen any of them cause they all look like trash. Mogged by quentin
little orbit of Hollywood friends.
Who do you think funds his movies? They don't make any profit so he has to get funding somehow.
Actually all of his movies have made a profit except Licorice Pizza and Inherent Vice.
where it was clearly written and put into production around 2020
Source on this?
Its coming out now, which means it was probably filmed last year, which means it was probably cast and in pre produciton 2-3 years ago, which means it was probably written between 2020-2022
The true redpill is that There Will Be Blood isn't as great as people think it is and that it massively insists on itself.
A movie as funny as TWBB cant insist on itself
His movies all look like indieslop now when they used to look like epics
Turns out that the auteur theory and "a film by" credit are bullshit and filmmaking is actually a collaborative artform.
Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, There Will Be Blood and Inherent Vice were shot by Robert Elswit
The Master was shot by Mihai Malaimare Jr.
Phantom Thread, Licorice Pizza and One Battle After Another were shot by PTA himself (his gaffer Michael Bauman gets shared credit)
Phantom Thread is his magnum opus. Daniel Day Lewis's, too. He's also literally me, far more than Daniel Plainview.
Anon Babble is a bunch of rightwing schizo faggots now and they're on the lookout for "jewish" or "woke" issues, which is fucking NONSENSE.
This place is broken as is everyone in it.
Never look to fucking Anon Babble for any rational thought.
It was shot on VistaVision, bruh. Looks amazing. Can't wait to see it in IMAX.
The new movie will be great like all of them. I remember people thought Punchdrunk wouldn't work.
Stupid idiots thought Ledger couldn't play Joker too.
No one here actually appreciates art if they have a problem with colored people in movies. That's just fucking racist nonsense and it NEVER was any different.
I guess Boogie Nights was "woke" because of Don Cheadle. Where were you guys then???
Oh yeah. You weren't fucking born yet, shitheels.
So? Soderburgh started shooting his own movies with Traffic and Ocean's Eleven and they only got better. In fact, it's when he started winning Oscars.
You're a fucking idiot.
racemixing couple try to save their daughter from an alt-right white supremacist and his white nationalist group
stop noticing schizo faggots
But no one sides with white supremacists. Even here.
That's like saying no one here likes WWII movies because Nazis are the bad guys. They ARE and always will be. You're not in your conspiratard bubble right now, faggot.
Yes, to the rational world you're a schizo faggot. Even here you're considered one.
Ok but Mihai Malaimare Jr literally 1 year before The Master shot TWIXT, one of the worst looking movies ever. Clearly PTA is the common denominator between all these cinematographer's best work.
Dont you have some triple A western game studio to shill for on Anon Babble?
Depressing lack of acknowledgement for the kino that is Phantom Thread in this, uh, thread. Yeah, Liquorice Pizza and Inherent Vice are both PTA's worst films, but Phantom Thread gives me hope that he's not totally done for.
Soderbergh had an extensive background in photography, PTA doesn't. Also, Soderbergh winning an Oscar has nothing to do with cinematography, it was because he stopped writing his films and started collaborating with real writers. His films after ditching professional DPs look like shit, borderline amateurish.
Educate yourself before spouting your stupid retarded faggot opinions, you fucking cum-guzzling pozzed tranny.
But the trailer is trying to sell the movie, right? Surely they put some of the "best bits" and/or "best shots" from the movie in the trailer?
Based Phantom Thread appreciator. It's a modern classic. His most visually beautiful film, too.
youtube.com
anon the movie looks like shit before you even mention the blacks. I dont mean the content, I mean it literally physically does not look good.
The current co-CEO of Warner Bros was one of PTA's groomsmen when he got married to Maya. They've been buddies since the 90s.
Your opinions are flawed and gay.
You're alone in that. What a rebel "thinker" you are.
Clearly PTA is the common denominator between all these cinematographer's best work
He is. But it doesn't mean that he can just ditch them and do it on his own.
Hey, Martin Scorsese is the common denominator between the best work of Thelma Schoonmaker, Marty should just edit his films on his own! Werner Herzog was the common denominator between the best work of Klaus Kinski, Herzog should have just played the lead roles himself! This is how retarded you sound.
And you ran out of arguments.
blown out highlights can be a look when shooting on film but for PTA its starting to look more and more like he doesnt give a shit how it looks anymore
Really? Does anything in the trailer look good besides like 1 or 2 landscape shots?
Twixt was literally shot on video tape, in 1080p.

You should never buy at the top and he boughted
This is brutal. I loved PTA movies for his fantastic cinematography, acting, and dialogue. He ditched the cinematography, and with the exception of Phantom Thread he seems to be going for meme performances and dialogue now (Barbara Streye-sand, STREYE-SAND haha). I wonder what made him think doing a bigger budget version of a Pynchon adaptation, which was his biggest bomb and least accessible movie by far, and centering it around modern day politics was a good idea
My take is that it must be depressing to abandon your blow habit, especially if you're a writer.
Damn, even more brutal when you consider the OBAA trailer was posted there 2 days ago and the trivial news about Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's production company getting closed was only posted 17 hours ago and already has more upvotes.
and yet, you won't leave... curious.
That’s retarded.
I didn’t care for TWBB whatsoever but loved The Master. Boogie Nights was also mediocre.
reminder that hes a nepo baby
checked
you are one of the people capable of forming your own opinions and not a part of the nigger cattle herd congratulations
Wouldn't the recoil kill the baby?
Explains why he got $15 million to make a movie like Boogie Nights when he was only 26.
I was here first. You fucktards will find some other sewer to pollute.
lol, talentless incels lost their chance at being arty directors because of unfair advantages.
Magnolia - kino
There will be blood - great
the rest is not worth watching
I hope you get lots of karma after you screenshot this and repost it for updoots
