If you're going to do a cartoon episode, fully flesh out the character and have the Doctor use cartoon logic to defeat him instead of the fucking sun. Make the cartoon character look like he's actually from the time period you are referencing. Just fuck RTD and his yesmen. Not even Chibnall's Flux season felt this lazy to me.

Just treat it like Kamen Rider and Super Sentai (the latter is at number 49-50 now). You can have your commemorative specials here and there but individual Doctors are mostly standalone. I will give NuWho credit for setting a helpful precedent in that it goes back and forth between a new Doctor inheriting the current companions then introducing a new Doctor with new companions as well, which allows for more jumping-on points.
