It was fun and cast was stacked. Why are capeshit niggers so critical of if? I'm watching it on laserdisc right now

OH NO, IT'S PAGE 10!

I just dont get the value in these goofy old comic movies, particularly now that the mcu and movies like the dark knight and bvs exist and are just way more compelling, as comics in general arent regarded as childish and stupid anymore

thinking the mcu is compelling

Oh shit now it's no longer on page 10 because of your help, thanks bro!

THERE USED TO BE A GRAYING TOWER ALONE BY THE SEA

The zombie Gunnbots will praise this film and shit on Nolan trilogy and The Batman by the time Gunn's lighthearted Batfamily film is out

See, we used to realize capeshit was retarded but in a fun way. Trying to make this ridiculous genre all serious and respected was a mistake.

as comics in general arent regarded as childish and stupid anymore

they aren't regarded at all anymore, it's a dead medium

UNSANCTIONED BUFFOONERY!

it was the highest grossing film of 1995
it's millennial retards who claim that movie was shit
everyone loved it in the 9s

cape shit was primarily for kids. there were batman forever happy meal toys as a cross promotion. it don’t remember it becoming more serious until nolan and iron man.

Even though I find Nolan's realistic take on Batman bland and boring, I'd rather Batman err more on the serious side than the silly side. Ideally, Batman should be larger than life and a bit surreal, but with enough to ground it so it doesn't become fantasy.

Kid me started noticing a pattern of 3rd films in a series always sucking without exception. It's like some kind of rule.

Was this guy some producer's brother or something? Even for this movie, he's a little over the top and gets a suspicious amount of focus for the short time he's around.

I NEED le dark gritty twist to my childhood slop

No. Because of man children like you we get 10 different remakes about twisted clown man vs battyman instead of some actual entertainment.

People want to be cunty. And snooty. And superior. And intellectual. I lived the time period there were people who really liked it when it came some people didnt like it. The decades that follow shit on this movie like its an abomination. Is it BATMAN or Returns no but its still miles better than Batman and Robin.
Truthfully if you could complain about one thing its the zany jokeresque twoface but to me tommy lee jones is a more enjoyable two face than aaron eckhart.
Jim Carrey as the riddler was a genius casting choice and people can be critical of him all they want the man gave it his all showed briefly a serious side to him and was a great joker.
Also val kilmer was a good batman
We get robin and his backstory.
Its enjoyable keep watching it.
People bitching loudly and being overly critical of movies and tv of yesteryear has been an internet staple since 2006ish for video games and 07 or 08ish for tv and movies
Batman and robin is deserving of the hate, its not a good movie but I'd watch it over anything marvel has ever made under any studio or umbrella

Lastly i will say its because I was a kid during this time frame(i have watched the movie multiple times as a kid teen 20 in my 30s) i remember just the whole marketing campaign behind it to be wonderous and enjoyable. I'm sure if I was the same person I am in this moment 35 send me back into the past I would've probably found the marketing forced but it was a good time to be a kid.

This colin quinn or modern family grandpa

I saw this at the kinoma and it was brilliant.

I prefer the more mature flavor of the Batman '89 fast food tie-in

what a twist.png - 561x513, 631.6K

the dark knight and bvs exist and are just way more compelling

Grim and gritty is literally for manbabies.

Batman & Robin was so bad that it retroactively tainted Forever. But taken on its own, Forever is a fantastic movie and a faithful silver age homage with a great cast, production design to die for and one of the best scripts ever lent to a comic book movie.

It was fun

that last shot absolute kino.
OST is superb.

But taken on its own, Forever is a fantastic movie

Taken on its own Batman & Robin is also a fantastic movie. Seriously, give it a rewatch and try to say you're not having a good time. It's the perfect Batman movie for kids, the only part that doesn't really work is the Batgirl subplot, but that's a minor complaint.

its shit, the characters don't even feel like themselves.

The Riddler acts like Jim Carey
Two Face acts like Cesar Ramero
Batman acts retarded

The only true Batmany moment is at the end of the movie where Batman gives the riddler a riddle of his own

It's Batman & Robin that gave it a bad reputation. It had retarded one-liners from Robin and seems like a different character even though it's the same actor that played in Forever. Batgirl's introduction seemed too rushed also. The villains were alright, poison ivy was hot.

I enjoy Batman & Robin, it's fun and it looks/sounds amazing, but it doesn't work as a film, and is a spectacular waste of time, money and talent considering what could have been. Forever remains a classic.

Attention excuse me I have an announcement to make
I would very much like to violate Nicole Kidman as she appears in this film, preferably while she's bound and playing at struggling against me
Thank you that is all

I liked Forever and I still rewatch it every year or so. It would be great if that fabled Schumacher cut made its way into the open, but I guess it doesn't exist if it isn't out there by now.
He's there to fill the jewish quota.

Its Ted Bundy from Modern Family

Batman and Robin is equally shit but at least Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy feel like themselves.

And its fun to see Arnold stomping around making Ice Puns. The unsanctioned baffoonery in Forever is palpable

batman returns is the best batman film to date

TDK is still better and more culturally significant but I can't deny the final Trialogue between walken, Pfiefer and Keaton is 10/10 screenwriting and peak classic cinema

Men take Batman very seriously, so a mindless popcorn action movie isn't good enough for them. But yeah, it's better than all the other Batman movies.
Troll copypasta? All the best comic book movies were made before the MCU existed.
Revisionist non-sense. It was Burton that gave us a more serious rendering of Batman. Up until then, the public's idea of Batman was the Adam West show. Nolan just took it further (too far). "Was" for kids? Still is. Also, you overlook that the sponsors for Batman Returns were largely pissed off by the violent nature of the movie and had all pulled out by Batman Forever.

more culturally significant

Only to a zoomer who never lived through 1989.

I used to think so, and I still love it, but I think the Burton aspect is a little too heavy handed at times. Which is fair enough, WB begged the guy to do a sequel and he only agreed if he could basically do whatever he wanted.

Forever > '89 > Returns > B&R > Nolanslop >>>>> Snyderslop

I liked Tommy Lee Jones' Two-Face. I think the movie would have worked with no Riddler or at least without Jim Carrey.

Nah, Batman Returns is the best overall. Plot, theme, characters, actors, set, tone, music, everything is better.

Those aren't mutually exclusive. It's a well made piece of fluff. I enjoy it a good deal more than the other Batman movies.
It's the most unique of Batman movies. It pushes the production design front and center, and with Burton's Batman movies, those were some of its best assets. That said, the plot is thin, and the sets are a bit shoddy - it all looks like it was shot on a backlot, where '89 felt like a real city. Batman Forever manages to clear a low bar by being emotionally accessible (and very simple), thus making it a better watch in my eyes.

What's the deal with Jim carrey but when you think about it the original riddler acted like that

I have this reoccurring dream where during the theatrical version of the movie, Jim Carrey's Riddler 4th wall breaks and controls the audience like those interactive theme park movies and forces the crowd out of their seats for a musical(the seats jolt and force you to stand). I've dreamt of it 4 times now, in sets of two where I'd dream about it two nights in a row
