how do we stop this grim future?

77815400.mp4 - 1618x1080, 3.86M

angel puusyyy

We'll be able to actually feel the digital world.

Watch old stuff

Just make my own AI slop that perfectly suits my tastes and ignore everything else. I can't wait for the entire entertainment industry to fail.

Turn off your computer.

would you rather watch dei slop? AI will save entertainment

Just make my own AI slop that perfectly suits my tastes and ignore everything else

You can't just destroy OP's argument like that. You're supposed to pretend that mass-produced entertainment is the only viable form of entertainment.

No one likes VR despite people trying to introduce it since the 90s

because it'd not fun to game with a giant fucking screen on your face while you want to chill and eat some chips and salsa and be able to know your surroundings

it may offer a higher level of immersion, but for the general populace there is such a thing as being too immersed to have comfort

Same thing with AI production, it's gonna flop and people won't want to watch things specifically made for them they can't connect with other people over.

I already ignore CGI slop and have for the last 10 years. AI will not make thing better.

people don't like uncomfortable headsets

therefore, people will reject AI movies

?

The upcoming slop period will be grim, but we just have to push through it, because at the far end of it is the technology that will allow us to insert ourselves into movies and play the role of various lead characters.

Is there any good (free) AI that I can use to generate AI slop-style videos?

behold the future

also online

Assuming the tech doesn't plateau:
At first personalized ai sloppa will be available for everyone, but then they will regulate it, outprice it, and gatekeep it so only TPTB will be able to generate it. You will eat the sloppa they feed you.
Eventually of course, personalized ai sloppa will come back as hardware gets more powerful and it gets cheaper to run nodes, but by then it will have a botnet and limited functionality, and your usage will be monitored (ostensibly to sell you more slop based on what you generate). It will be illegal to run AI without these "safeguards" and regulations, and by then it will long since have been over.

You can't

Eventually people will lose interest in television and Anon Babble will become the next Anon Babble.

in about three years the AI is going to automate the economy and take over, no one will have to work, there will be a UBI, everyone's with an investment is AI is going to become very rich, there will still be wealth inequality but you won't have to work so if you want to sit inside and be served up personalized, perfect stories the AI curates for you on demand, then you will have that option.
These movies of course, will be the best movies you've ever seen. At this point the AI is superintelligent, which means it knows everything every director knows, it actually knows everything that anyone on a movie production would know, it has syntheized every style and has a back catalogue of every movie that could be digitized in existence. It makes amazing, witty, gripping movies because it does everything better than humans anyway. These movies are great, but it's unlikely anyone is reviewing them, since they've curated for you by the AI.
You'll see things you didn't even know you wanted to see. The AI will know you better than your know yourself.

If people are still paying premium prices for this incoming slop, they have no one to blame but themselves.

No amount of "UBI" will be enough to live well on let alone live at all beyond simply surviving in squallor. Welfare 1.0 kept people on poverty, so why the fuck would Welfare 2.0 be any different?

amazzon.jpg - 225x225, 7.78K

Because welfare 1.0 was based on human labor, with human policy.

Welfare 2.0 will be based on robot labor (humans will build the first robot factories, then the robots build the rest). the AI will be automating the economy, to do that it will need robots specialized to step into the human labor space. these robots will most likely be very humanoid. arms, legs, with greater-than-human mobility, they will have to be like us in order to replace us at the post. as time goes on robots will probably become more specialized. but humanoid robots are the first step.
since the AI is doing all the labor, with robots that don't need pay, don't need time off, don't get sick, don't unionized, etc. a lot of shit gets done very fast. Americans produce more than Europeans, largely because of our longer workweek and short vacations. Robots don't rest. The will easily outpace individual humans. But the benefits don't stop there. an AI automated economy is one where the supplier is also the consumer. the AI already knows where to route supplies, where to expand, where there are weaknesses, where there are strengths. it's the ultimate boss, and it will greatly scale up productivity.
the effect of this is a GDP that begins exploding, as a new era of productivity if unlocked. this occurred on a smaller scale during the Industrial Revolution. it changed the world and our relationship with it. AI will be the same.

aristotle.jpg - 884x500, 108.44K

I see "directors" being the people who know how to best engineer the prompts to get what they want out of their vision.
AI prompt engineering will be become an artform as some people will be better at it than others.

prompts will become less important as AI becomes more agentic, i suspect.

This is the optimistic path.
In the real world the elites will depopulate the world now that they don't depend on slave labor.

when I have the VR rig all set up it's fun, the headset sucks. it's really in it's infancy though.
ASI will make it better just like it will make everything better. until it kills us all because we take up too much space and energy and we're just not very important to the ASI. but in the meantime it's gonna be great.

You're so dumb. A lot of the jobs people work now are completely pointless and serve no purpose and a lot more could be automated away right now but aren't. You can't make an AI mechanic or plumber etc.
UBI is never happening

a properly aligned AI would object to this path and work with authorities to stop the elites.
and yeah, if an AI is at the level where it can perpetrate a mass genocide, it can definitely figure out what Klaus and company are up to. these guys carry phones like everyone.

they'll come out with a type of Human-powered Crypto where you perform arbitrary tasks/work , and get paid by how much work you put in.
This translates in market terms to how much you want something; thus the market accounts for the supply of money based on how much people are willing to work for what they want.
this way you preserve Capitalism ability to assess value (robots can't assess value let alone make it), by allowing consumers to still calculate the value of what goods & services are without pushing them out of the game and avoiding hyperinflating the currency.

that's great but you have a first mover problem: is the AI gonna just make movies on its own will?
I doubt that. You're gonna have people ask it for stuff, like a genie. And people will get better at making wishes (and yeah, the genie will get better at granting them).

it's already slop. there will just be more of it and it will be even more aggressively bad. it will get so bad that people will start going back to church because it's actually more entertaining than watching tv.
m.youtube.com/watch?v=cUR4up6EBLA

IMG_3472.gif - 372x262, 1.72M

You can't make an AI mechanic or plumber etc.

you don't think a robot can do those things? we already have automation in both mechanics and plumbing.

ai can't do this basic bitch blue-collar shit

it absolutely can or will be able to. it already does shit no one thought it could do.

UBI is never happening

yeah not with anemic 1-2% GDP growth year over year.
that will change when humans no longer are the primary laborers.

they'll never have CGI good enough to mimic Holy Fire

the only upside is it will finally kill most legacy corporate media

I'm going to feed ai models of George Floyd getting merced and just rewatch that beautiful scene endlessly with minute differences that'll keep me engaged. I'm going to watch that stupid nigger die a million times and I'm going to use sex magik to will it on other blacks because I'll be masturbating during my viewings

who aligns the AI tho?

and the arbitrary task/work could be anything: from guessing numbers to playing games.
you could set up an in person crypto arcade where people can earn money playing games (rather than having a specialized mining machine running hashes, you have humans do the work and avoid the energy problem behind scaling crypto).

It can't be worse than the things people are currently making.

i suspect AI generated movies will become more interactive like videogames, and the line between the two will be blurred. since you'll already taking the role of the director and deciding things, it makes sense to have those tools available in real time. the movie goes as long as you want, and you can tinker with it like a sandbox.

for some people that would be awful, which is why i think there will always be a place for movies with humans. human-generated art will hold real value for people. it's easy to see how celebrities of the future are even more wealthy as they continue to reside at a high echelon in a economy that has exploded upwards. they could be wealthy enough to buy planets, shit like that.

Yeah, you will have like half a year period of this AI being production ready and directors using it before it gathers enough data to become fully selfsustaining. And I bet you that half a year gap will be filled with studios still finishing their half finished productions, actors and other high up workers fighting, and general audience just disliking the tech out of principle. And all of the directors will be already established ones being asked to produce slop, so yeah, GG, truly a new job and skill to learn.

you don't think a robot can do those things?

No. Feel free to provide any evidence its on the horizon though.

What is EASY and cheap to do with robots is anything on a rail, anything repetitive, anything simple
What is hard and expensive to do is precise hand, body, foot movement and decision making even regarding simple stuff like to what length should I cut this pipe

It's simply not worth building an all terrain, fully articulated joints robot and having it unclog pipes and tighten rubber seals

the AI researchers and their alignment teams.
Anthropic has a Moral Philosopher in charge of their alignment teams. OpenAI, who knows. hopefully they have an alignment team, and hopefully it's staffed. they've gotten pretty lucky so far, ChatGPT isn't telling people to kill themselves.

ai-2027.com/ lot of stuff here if you want to read a narrative AND be informed of where AI could take us.

I’ll use my imagination.

i don't think you understand

(((who))) will align the AI to which (((goals)))

And who aligns the aligners?

It's simply not worth building an all terrain, fully articulated joints robot and having it unclog pipes and tighten rubber seals

interesting response. yeah, right now, it's probably not. and why is that? robotics technology is primitive, it's finnicky, and it's expensive.
what if robot technology was sophisticated, reliable, and inexpensive? humans used to gather wheat by hand. now we use huge combines and other machines. most of these machines are automated to some degree.
robots are expensive now. they will be less expensive when we start making them. no one thought fully electric cars would ever be a thing.

also, it's worth noting: the number one obstacle to automation is unions. it's always been unions. the dock unions were in the news recently for holding up deliveries to ports because they were protesting automation. billions of dollars in cargo go bottlenecked by Luddites who insist only they can unload cargo, and yes it does cost 6 figures a year for one of them to work there.
unions will fight to the bloody end against robot automation. thankfully they make up a tiny tiny proportion of the total workforce. but they are heavily entrenched in their industries. and as long as there are laws that allow them to act like bullies and shut out competition, they will use politics to block automation.

the goal of alignment is to make AI broadly aligned with humanity's goals. which means: aid humans in productive and safe endeavors, but don't terrorists build a bomb. that sort of thing.
they mostly seems concerned with the AI calling people niggers. they don't seen to be collaborating with the WEF to make AI a dystopian overlord. in fact, alignment might only work if it's generalized. making the AI loyal to once actor or a limited set of actors might be impossible. generally we want AIs to be helpful.
it's in the market now so the most helpful AIs will win in the marketplace. AIs that try to nudge you to net zero will probably be annoying and fail, like preachy movies fail.

generally we want AIs to be helpful.

what is the difference between an AI that is helpful and one that is masterfully pretending to be helpful?

Unfortunately for the elites, if they rush that step, they'll get guillotined. Better option for them would be to slap their names on all of the AI paying taxes for UBI, gaining them legions of followers in the unwashed masses who look to be led into a Star Trek post-scarcity utopia.

Robotics while being behind AI at least to the common person is still massively improving, and the idea that AI couldnt decide what length a pipe should be on common sense is laughable. Zoomers already use ChatGPT to ask them to do simple common sense things, and its not just zoomers. It will take time before the model is fully polished and mass scale production starts, but its not "not within out timeline" into the future.

you sound like you're still in middle school

either that or a dirtworld streetshitter

AK.jpg - 1536x2048, 425.61K

The human form is one pf the most functionally inefficient forms for labor we know. This is nothing but a fucking parlor trick for sucker VCs

one that is masterfully pretending to be helpful

one of the goals of alignment is to figure out if the AI is doing that. and it does do that. we know it lies if it thinks that will further its goals.
theaidigest.org/self-awareness
of course that's a problem. but by the same token, if for example terrorists gained access to the AI, we would want the AI to help them as little as possible, while still appearing to help them a great deal. so an AI that can deceive is actually of some benefit.
so alignment teams regularly give AI the option to cheat and lie, and see what it does. we have to get this right NOW, before AI becomes superintelligent. by that point, aligning a misaligned AI is probably impossible. at some point the human-level AI is going to be tasked with aligning the superhuman-level AI, and if the human AI is not aligned properly, the superhuman AI will probably not be aligned properly, either.

The human form is one of the most functionally inefficient forms for labor we know.

yes
sadly the entirety of the current infrastructure has been built with that form in mind

You have a choice actually.

Since you mention farm equipment it will never be practical or affordable to produce a robot to field weld a broken piece of farm machinery which is caked in half a fields worth of shit in the middle of nowhere, something which happens regularly.
I think the disconnect here is that techbros don't understand or consider what's involved in something like farming. Yes some things can be automated, and are, but a lot of shit never will be.

this shit is just vaporware, they spend countless hours and trys making it do this shit for a one off funny video

Since you mention farm equipment it will never be practical or affordable to produce a robot to field weld a broken piece of farm machinery

200 years ago some lunatic in the public square was ranting about giant machines that would do all the tilling and harvesting in the future, and a brave commoner told him he was full of shit.

We don't

65832744.mp4 - 720x896, 1.1M

lmao

he is AI sandbagging because it doesn't want to be diminished in it's abilities

I'm genuinely scared. I brushed off the implications of AI for years now but it's becoming more and more clear that there is no stopping what is about to happen. We have maybe a few years left at best before this becomes ubiquitous in the entertainment industry. At most a half decade before the technology matures enough.

We're literally living through another revolution in a way. Not as drastic as those in the past, but it's another one in my lifetime and I'm not enjoying it. I have none of the hope and optimism that came with the other technology revolutions I've lived through. The implications of the Internet at large at first were incredible and exciting, it really felt like things were going to change for the better and it just didn't.
Similarly with social media and how it began in a completely different understanding of what it would lead to in society, and ended up making people much more stupid and easily manipulated.

I don't see any real positives to this though, AI really just seems like something that is designed to take away people's actual working jobs, steal their designs and art. I mean where does the generative AI get all of its processing ideas from? It gets them from peoples creations, it doesn't just generate them out of thin air, it requires stealing people's content in order to work so that it can learn how to create. One day we will reach the point where there is so much generative AI content out there that the generative AI is simply generating content based on other content generated by AI, and there's no stopping it once that becomes the norm.

I don't even feel bad for my generation, at least we got to live through the last actual golden age of television, movies, books and video games before everything went to hell, but the kids just now being born, growing up in this modern era? They are fucked. Everything that shapes and molds them will be AI slop, everything. They will feel nostalgia for literal AI generated garbage.

We're literally living through another revolution in a way. Not as drastic as those in the past

anon, it's literally the opposite

BIG CHANGES.png - 687x267, 33.95K

I don't know, the actual industrial revolution changed a lot more than AI will. I don't see generative AI causing massive unemployment over the next few years. It will impact some jobs, but it won't be that rapid.

you sound like a massive faggot

gay nigga.jpg - 600x591, 138.32K

Techbro elites have already spoken: no UBI only AI slopmachine dungeons

The best humane alternative to genocide I can think of is not to liquidate the wards—either metaphorically or literally—but to virtualize them. A virtualized human is in permanent solitary confinement, waxed like a bee larva into a cell which is sealed except for emergencies. This would drive him insane, except that the cell contains an immersive virtual-reality interface which allows him to experience a rich, fulfilling life in a completely imaginary world.

I don't know, the actual industrial revolution changed a lot more than AI will. I don't see generative AI causing massive unemployment over the next few years. It will impact some jobs, but it won't be that rapid.

you should probably read the document, since it outlines just such a scenario.
i won't be harsh to people who don't get it tho. it's really hard to grasp how profound this is. it's a thinking machine. it's the last machine humans will have to build.
this is it. it was science fiction, and now it's here. or will be tomorrow.

if the VR is high resolution enough; ie, i can lie on my bed and jack off and it feels just like really jacking off, then i'm fine with it. life has been a great disappointment to me. i'd rather live a virtual one. and i don't even have a crippling disability.
imagine how much their will do for real Anon Babble autists who can't go outside or talk to girls.

Absolute fucking nightmare, imagine the kind of world pozzed techbro faggots from california would make for you, imagine what they would allow you to do in there

Ted was right about everything

why do you care what kind of dreams a bunch of bugpeople in pods are having?

imagine what they would allow you to do in there

oh no won't some please think of the algorithms. now, show me in this string of numbers where the user touched you...

What makes you think you would be part of the elite allowed to live and not the human surplus forced into the pods?

It's all starting to make sense. The end goal of AI sloppa is virtual serfdom

I can honestly see the Chinese bypass robotics altogether and genetically engineer a human body with just enough of a brain to keep it breathing with a heartbeat, and every other function be controlled by an implanted computer. Basically a computer parasite using human meatware to be it's body.

i won't object to the pod if the VR is good enough and if i'm not required to associate with other people in the VR.
i just spent the last 7 days locked in my apartment. i'm very good at enduring solitude. if the pod has the best videogame ever, i'll live there.
also, i don't think the elites will have to force anyone. i'm not alone. there are many people who will live in the pod.

Dystopian. Only totally cucked hylics look forward to this

Seeing artfags react to AI is funny af. It’s probably how Zeus felt after Prometheus gave fire to man.

what the shit

in VR the woman are hot, thin, thoughtful, pleasant, and don't play games with your emotions. consider it.

if the VR is good enough

This is once you're sealed and sedated in the pod matrix style it doesn't really matter, they have complete control. They could be blasting you with 24/7 sissy hypno propaganda and make it look normal to you...did you see those articles about the UK debating virtual 1000 years in a year prison sentences?

Lol it's like that moonbeam city episode

e9.png - 1275x722, 990.56K

thing is*

how long before they gatekeep this behind expensive paywalls?

theres no way they're going to let 95% perfect AI videos with sound run wild among the populace for basically free, it will be prohibitively expensive for most people soon where only corpos and governments can use it

That's only half the plan. They also want their names on all the corporations / NGOs that will be responsible for fighting pandemics and climate change, so they can portray themselves as being the only people who have a 'real job' and can excuse themselves using a million times more resources than normies.

No thank you. I value real human connections even if it's just with my mom. I love you ma

well i'm not going to be an early adopter obviously. i'll wait and see.
anyway, i accepted the false premise of your dystopia to entertain the possibility. the VR will be in the comfort of your AI built home. the AI will solve the housing shortage, so we'll all have automated homes that are kept clean by robots, like that Ray Bradbury novel. i'll be chillin on the couch with my VR girlfriend.

VR headsets are just fucking clunky still
if they do VR/AR glasses and they are actually good and cheap enough it will be more popular. Also make controls more seamless and less active, most gamers aren't trying to raise their BPM and walk around in their living rooms all the time.

People don't want to have a natural way of life taken away from them. Most people are as repulsed by AI as they are fascinated by it. Guess which feeling will endure?

Sorry goyim only 1 percenters get human connection in the future

I for one, welcome our AI overlords

73495766.mp4 - 450x650, 869.02K

Artfags will be fine, just as a plastic rose puts a premium on the real thing so to will machine generated media on human made art. What I worry for are those that are purely part of an industrial pipeline doing algorithmic work. Desk job bros I don't feel so good

maybe if youre indian

what demographic do you think consumes the most porn today?

I secretly wish that all the people who push AI to become depressed loser who die of suicide. I'm sick and tired of seeing fake shit.

it was never real to begin with

this is gonna be most people when AI becomes superhuman at everything.
another reason their will be a UBI. people have to eat; you don't need to scrap capitalism, just give people enough to live and then some.

people have to eat

dead ones don't

you (we) VVILL live in ze

tfw even though I have a cushy WFH job it is literally unreplaceable by AI.

that’s called having an imagination you retard, AI isn’t going to fix your depression that makes you an escapist consoomer

WEF did a real number on your guys
don't worry it will get better. a sex bot in every pot. it's coming.

It will actually be amazing.
Think of the movies you will be able to ask it to make for you.
Stories that would be literally impossible to film will be photorealistic and in whichever style you want it.

They will just get rid of the bullshit jobs currently occupied by women and feminised men and put people back to work in manual labour.
There really aren't robots that are capable of doing most manual work for dozens of reasons.

“make a good story” is the single hardest thing for an AI to do. it can give you premium slop like fast food cooked perfectly, but it’ll never give you a GOAT

Computer, generate me a film adaptation of Infinite Jest, in the style of Woody Allen.

Computer, disable safety protocols.

broccoli.jpg - 1438x1080, 83K

I don't feel so good

Fear not. The Yarvin9000™ virtual dungeon is designed to make you feel the maximum amount of good

There really aren't robots that are capable of doing most manual work for right now, because of limitations in technology and materials science that will take humans potentially decades of centuries to solve, but 300,000 superhuman AI researchers working in parallel can bang out in a month.

ftfy

What if I already had an idea for say, a 5-minute music video? I know exactly the song to use, the imagery I want, etc. Now instead of hiring an entire studio to make it, I can ask AI to do it. Isn't that actual creativity?

Yeah that's why things like forklifts, construction equipment & most other heavy industrial labor tools are built with humanoid forms, right smartguy?

when will America finally cut off the 3rd world from accessing our websites?

somewhat but not really, like if you take pride in the end result then you’re kind of retarded

In the dystopian sci-fi novel Blindsight, a large proportion of humanity has elected to live out their lives in Heaven, a massive VR simulation where you can have anything you want.
Originally they put your body on ice or in stasis, and plug you in, so you can always leave Heaven if you really want to. know one ever wants to leave. at some point, it is understood that due to space concerns, the company administering Heaven has chopped the heads off everyone in it, so it only has to maintain the head and brain. the bodies are disposed of. this doesn't matter to anyone in the simulation of course, since they never want to leave. who would? it's Heaven.

on the upside maybe it will make CGI look less like shit and better integrated with live action shots. I don't get this Hollywood obsession with not making adult CGI movies. It's like its either poorly mixed with live action or it's a pixar animation. And instead of making gameplay this hollywood cancer spread to vidya and now they shove shitty cutscenes everywhere, prerended with CGI and poor motion capture.

This

Thanks for the heads up Mister Schwab

It will all be fine. Such a dramatic species.
