What is the final verdict on season 2? Was it successful? Will Abby carry season 3?
/tlou/ The Last of Us General
They have GREAT chemistry
wether the cure is possible is not really the point
How do you respond without sound mad?
They are 20 years into the apocalypse. How many "cures" and "treatments" have they heard of? Why would they rush to kill the only immune person? They could have just gotten a biopsy and grown it.
Joel said repeatedly that they could make a cure
Was your picrel's version of Ellie before the "remasters"?
A random surgeon and a rag tag group of rebels can mass produce a vaccine with no global supply chains
It was never in doubt
Why was FEDRA considered so bad? I get they were oppressive, but did they keep the population fed and safe?
i believe i can save the world by killing this child
i didn't know the surgeon was from israel
Directs the best episode of the season, maybe even the series
Druckmann I kneel
I just watched the joel dying episode and it bummed me out. I knew itd happen but still it felt so heartless
its not over yet how can we make a final verdict?
ask yourself what is thematically more interesting. That they could or couldn't?
the answer is that it is a more interesting ending if they could have made a vaccine. That is what the game rolls with, and that it includes the original ps3 version of the game, that renders the hospital as dingier than the remake does.
so let me get this straight
they already poorly adapted the first game with a 9 episode season that leaves tons of stuff from the actual game out of the season.
Then they are now splitting the 2nd game into THREE FUCKING SEASONS?
Why?, 7 episodes is not a "season" that's barely a miniseries.
Oh wait, we know why. Because HBO is a greedy company that wants to milk this stupid "franchise" for them as long as possible for oscar bait reasons. It won't work, but they will absolutely stretch out this story as long as they possibly can. Pathetic.
I already dropped season 2 by the way, why would I want to watch a shitty adaptation when the game already exists and is better? No point in this garbage.
no, the 2nd game is split into 2 seasons. there is no season 4 (yet) and if they greenlight one it will be post game 2 stuff
if HBO were as greedy as you are alleging, why would they only give a 25 hours for a 2 game series with over 400 hours of gameplay? if the really were as greedy as you want to believe why not do ten, 10 hour seasons and really milk it?
btw the oscars dont give out awards for tv shows

Last of Us Podcast is still getting 50k to 100k YouTube views per episode, and that's ONLY the segment of viewers who care enough to listen to making-of discussions that are just as long as the episodes themselves.
It still has an audience.
i think youre getting it confused with how every woman has ever looked at you before
first of all, who the fuck cares if Joel says they could, he has no expertise in this area whatsoever
second of all, its not a fucking cure! its a vaccine! if Joel is calling it a "cure" then that says it all doesn't it
dei slop yum yum
You’ve almost got it.
The only thing that matters is that Joel believes they could make a cure. If he didn’t, that would make him much less likeable, because his motivation for saving Ellie would be more muddled. He didn’t save her because he was worried about the Fireflies’ competence or supply lines. He saved her because she’s his daughter and fuck everyone else. Druckmann said he’d do the same.
Looking forward to an Abby/WLF centered third season.
It would still be a cure for humanity's future overall, if it allowed them to turn the tide against the Infected and deprive them of new hosts.
Without needing to help people who have already been bitten
Why couldn't Joel just radio in that he found Eugene and put Gail on the phone for him to talk to her?
Wonder if they will make it so Abby can only kill one Seraphite per episode or less, even though she's a soldier in the militia that's fighting them lmao
Can someone just tell me where this season leaves off game wise? I played the game but could not make it past the start of ep. 3 and I'm just curious how much cringe murder-porn they are subjecting normies to
We don't yet know for sure, there's still one episode left, but it will probably end with the perspective-switching cliffhanger at the theater, after Ellie kills Owen and Mel. It's the end of Ellie's Seattle campaign
Episode 7 was briefly available on Apple TV, did anyone manage to rip it
Yep, it's definitely ending on the theater
ask yourself what is thematically more interesting. That they could or couldn't?
The problem is they frame it in a way where you absolutely can argue it makes both logical, and emotional sense to not kill Ellie. It just makes it look like they're trying to hide their bad writing. "They totally could have done it, just trust us, bro," without addressing the very basic questions the scenario brings up. It's a writer looking for an ending, and a dilemma, without thinking everything through.
Because the writers needed a Joel bad moment. Nobody would be that emotional about someone getting infected 25 years after the apocalypse
Making the reason of Joel and Ellie's separation being Eugene's death (someone who we have only seen until NOW) rather than the revelation of what actually happened in the hospital feels so much weaker, yeah yeah very sad and everything, but it just doesn't hit not even close to the same level
It's time for /ourgirl/ to shine

Abby will save the show
This. This has been the case since Part 2.
Druckmann didn't make Part 1, Straley did. That’s why the direction of Part 1 is miles better than whatever Part 2 tried to be.
In my opinion, only the first game is canon. The only flaw in Part 1 that bugged me was the spores. Why were they contained? Why wasn’t the infection spreading worldwide through the air?
Anyway , you're right about Joel thinking a cure was possible, but most viewers don't think that the cure was possible. That makes Joel more likable for saving Ellie from a pointless death.
Now, let’s talk about the Fireflies and the doctors and how incompetent they were.
1. They knocked Joel out when he was trying to resuscitate Ellie after she drowned. Everyone there knew about Ellie. Even if that specific group didn’t, it was wrong.
2. Ellie was unconscious, and somehow the brain surgeon did every test in a few hours and decided she had to die.
3. Ellie was a kid. Marlene said Ellie would have agreed, and Joel knew that too. So why not let her wake up and meet Joel one last time? They didn't even know if Joel, Tess, and Ellie would make it this far. Suddenly, Ellie had an expiry date and the surgery had to be done in 10 minutes?
4. The doctor knew his knowledge was valuable. Why did he risk his and his colleagues’ lives by pointing a rusty scalpel at the guy who just killed 50 Fireflies? He could’ve bargained. Let Joel take Ellie but at least ask to run more tests.
As viewers, we see their stupidity and say good! Ellie would’ve died for nothing. The final thing Druckmann changed in Part 2 (apart from the clean hospital) was Ellie’s reaction to Joel swearing. In Part 1, she acted like she knew he was lying. She was hurt but kind of okay with it, because she knew how much they had come to care for each other, like a father and daughter. So yeah, Joel accidentally saved her from a meaningless death at the hands of a bunch of morons.
Scientifically though, the material they would need is in the bone marrow though. The doctors were retards.
Perhaps you shouldn't needlessly antagonize the psycho who just murdered his way from one end of the US to the other. It's like those retards wanted to get shived in the throat.
This. The second game was a major retcon of the first to tell the revenge bad story. Ellie knew Joel lied to her at the end of the first game. Not to mention Joel the former raider and survivor naively going with Abby to her "camp."
Even if the cure was possible, even if the Fireflies were trustworthy and altruistic, even if they had the means to deliver the cure all throughout the world, they still have to deal with the horde of clickers still roaming around. There numbers will now be limited because of the cure but they are still super strong zombies.
In the game they were being chased by a horde, it was either that or dying right there
Druckmann didn't make Part 1, Straley did.
Any evidence for this? Even r/TheLastofUs2 claims it was a collaborative effort.
Druckmann also wrote the story in college. So it seems like you’re just lying.
Who cares who "wrote" it? They're literally just following the plot of a video game.
Yeah...i don't think that they are keeping the "Scar top killer" thing for her
I watch it for they.
No big muscle girl to kick asses and break necks next season
Sad
Druckmann didn't make Part 1, Straley did. That’s why the direction of Part 1 is miles better than whatever Part 2 tried to be.
That's why Druckmann HATES Part 1. He's doing everything to undermine, retcon and destroy it. He hates it and he hates you even more for liking it.
Wokeslop copy of 28 days later
What's the appeal?
Good gameplay and decent writing in the games. Show dropped the ball
Now let’s look at Part II.
The Fireflies were already shown to be incompetent. The idea that this one doctor was humanity’s last hope is laughable. They turn him into some saint who saves pregnant animals, as if that somehow makes Joel's decision worse. Abby at least has some depth, but the game pushes hard on the idea that Joel killing that doctor doomed the world, which never felt believable.
Joel dies. Fine. Ellie goes on a revenge path. But why does Dina come along? She already suspected she was pregnant. That’s reckless. She should have stayed behind. Jesse would have been a better companion. He had more emotional weight, and his death could have been a stronger moment. Honestly, he should have been Ellie's partner. Ellie being pregnant would have added real stakes, balancing revenge with protecting her unborn child. That could have created a powerful dilemma. Maybe Abby attacking her results in the loss of the baby, adding to the tragedy.
The pacing was another big problem. The constant time jumps destroyed tension and made it hard to stay invested. Most of Abby’s crew felt flat. I only cared about Ellie, Joel, Tommy, and somewhat Jesse. Owen had potential, but his story would have landed better if we followed Abby’s side from the start until she meets Joel. As for the rest of her friends, they were just satisfying to watch die. Yes, even the pregnant one and especially the pendejo.
I love how Lily/Lev put everyone she cared about in life-threatening danger just so she could buzz her head and live as a man. Gets punched by fat Geralt lol.
I think Ellie made the right call by not killing Abby in the end. She was the only one who managed to break the cycle of revenge, something Abby never could. Other than that, the gameplay was top-notch. The Rat King fight was one of the best boss setpieces in gaming history. But the story? Just a fart in the wind.
The only purpose of Part 2 was shitting on Joel in the worst way possible.
Schizo
Was it kino?
didn't fucking understand it despite spending pages on his essay
The events from the first game are Joel's delusional attempt to justify his conduct years down the road. The events shown in the second game are the actual, canonical events as they occurred. Joel went in like a murderous fiend and killed the firefly doctors.
I'M NOT WATCHING THIS SLOP AFTER THE CRITICAL DRINKER REVIEW
NOT EVEN TORRENT
What's the appeal?
And season 2 is for cucking him. I was laughing my ass off when he was having panic attacks in season 1 and a therapist in second lol.
Stop! An asshole therapist who accepts alcohol and weed as payment is an excellent character
Yeah he did. Now shed some light on what I said about Doctors being lunatic.
Druckmann tries his hardest to emasculate Joel.
YEAH....IM THINKING WERE BACK!!!
I TRIED TO WATCH BUT TURNED IT OFF AFTER 30 MINUTES INTO E1
THIS IS WORSE THAN HOUSE OF DRAGON S02
Fuck the therapist both literally and figuratively.
Can Gale please get a spinoff series
This whole plot point was always retarded because the writers of the game obviously don’t understand how vaccines work. Even in the context of fake sci fi science. Multi-billion dollar corporations with thousands of highly paid doctors require years of R&D and lab studies to make vaccines. And a lot of time the vaccines still don’t end up working as intended, so they have to start over. Again…. and again….. and again….
A group of schizos in a shitty basement lab were likely never going to make anything that resembles a vaccine that A. works B. could be easily replicated and mass distributed.
This seems like common sense to me. But apparently the writers so offended by people realizing this(and thus defending Joel’s actions) that they chose to double down on their retarded plot holes, both in the second game and in the TV show.
only the gamers care about this. its a huge mistake for a non game fans.
Make the "i save her" scene be a section with some random ass therapist instead of being a confession to his brother Tommy, showing the deep trust and love they have for each other
I don't think that Tommy even knows about what Joel did in the show
Tommy is probably the biggest disappointment this season
