Just saw this yesterday and it has to be a top 3 contender for him. Max Cherry is probably my favorite Tarantino character.

Why is it considered the runt of his filmography?

Max Cherry is probably my favorite Tarantino character

yep, he's up there. class act.

Never seen it. Metacritic score gave me the ick.

Why is it considered the runt of his filmography?

Only teenagers and plebs do this. It's his best film, and definitely top 3 along with RD and PF.
He fell off hard after KB

I think Jackie Brown and Max Cherry are the best characters he's ever written. Certainly the most relatable. It also felt like in this movie he was able to weave all the usual Tarantino tropes in with characters that felt like more than passengers in the story.

Top 3 for me with the best soundtrack of all and I usually hate every kind of n-word music

I think Jackie Brown and Max Cherry are the best characters he's ever written.

Probably because he didn't write them just the screen play

Across 110 St and Strawberry Letter 23 are based, and I don't like black music either, mostly.

Great film. Most directors disappear up their own asses eventually, and it's their modest films that hold up best. See: Duel.

agreed on all points. The characters had Tarantino style while not being cartoons or too simple.

it's more mature

Explain how without sounding like a faggot.

Forsters character is a guy that's tired of his mundane, repetitive life and gets involved in something risky just because he wants to. Such a great performance too.

There isn't a single tarantino movie that Jackie Brown is better than.

It's the only one of his films that doesn't feel like it was written by an edgy teenager while his mom is getting railed by niggers in the next room.

see:

For me it's Jackie Brown, Pulp Fiction and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

OUTIH food.webm - 1280x532, 3.91M

I didn't like it, it was a bit too confusing for me

doesn't explain anything THOUGH

doesn't feel like it was written by an edgy teenager while his mom is getting railed by niggers in the next room.

But that is how it feels.

Why is it considered the runt of his filmography?

it's his best flick, from before he became a parody of himself

Jackie Brown.jpg - 1250x704, 84.05K

it's his last good movie

Kill Bill is at least kind of fun, entertaining, but maybe not "good." after that though Tarantula went total shit.

1 or 2?

Pulp Fiction>Jackie Brown>Once Upon a Time>>>>Death Proof>>Kill Bills>>Reservoir Dogs>>>>>Inglourious Basterds>H8>Django.

I've watched a lot of reactions to Jackie Brown and let me assure you most of them say it's one of his better films

wtf is ur issue

2 isn't very good. KB1 is neat though, especially seeing it as a teen.

Not bad. I've seen anons rate Tarantula's movies in much worse order. I'd switch it to
JB>PF>RD>>>KB1>OUATIH>>>>>>others
The scenes with K Russell in Deathproof are kino, but otherwise it sucks shit.
The rest of his films are cartoons with cringe dialogue and other cringe shit desperately trying to capture any of the style and wit that made his 90s films good, desperate to be cool. Sucks he didn't have 1 or 2 more Jackie Browns or Pulp Fictions in him.

I love QT but half of his films are embarrassing trash.

When I was a retarded teen I thought it was boring. Now that I’m a retarded adult it’s absolute kino

I'd say all of them are save the first 3 I ranked, but those still have shit parts, buy they're just not as irredeemable as Le Western but w/ Natzees or Django Kills Evil Whitey in the Most Cartoonish Idiotic Ways Possible.

Why is it considered the runt of his filmography?

because the normie plebs can't appreciate a straightforward story without too much quippy and cool shit.

all of his 2010 ones are slop excluding once upon.

Uh oh. Chuddie got filtered.

He fell off hard after KB

He came back hard with OUATIH though.

It's worse than RD and PF but better than what came after

OUATIH is a definite improvement over the previous 5 megaslops, but it failed to be close to as interesting as his 90s films. Every aspect of it was "well done" or polished at least , but nothing about Once Upon captured his good films' style and wit. The characters weren't as "relatable", flawed, or facing difficult choices in the way that made the characters of PF, JB etc. interesting and worth caring about. The photography and setting/period weren't particularly interesting, just "good." The subject matter wasn't very interesting either, although that's more of a subjective personal opinion of mine. But at least he didn't insert insane comic book hyperviolence because reasons this time.

There is no way any of his work from now on will reach 7/10. He lost it around the year 2000, unfortunately.

Very different energy from all his other films, I have two theories:

adaptation of another writers work

wanting to differentiate from his first two films to avoid being seen as a one-trick pony, while still completing a gangster movie trilogy

People who claim Jackie Brown as Tarantinos best are so fucking delusional and cringe.

If not then what?

Pulp Fiction
You're not a unique precious snowflake for denying what's obvious to everyone else

It's his worst film, if you don't count Death Proof. Still a passable 6.5/10. I remember being physically angry when it came out on video because it was perfectly fine and not 10/10 greatest kino of all time AND then Out Of Sight came along and was even better.

Still, not as butthurt as I was when Harvey raped Kill Bill, even though I like it more.

Probably helps that he didn't write them.

Pulp Fiction > Reservoir Dogs > Kill Bill Script > All the rest > Death Proof

It's been a thing since release, because it's different. Same contingent that tried to convince you that Alien 3 (le directors cut) was better than Aliens.

pulp fiction is a meme, a hackneyed caricature more recognized for its poster and quotes than the movie itself. jackie brown is an actual film
