only the first three seasons of buffy were good
Only the first three seasons of buffy were good
Buffy was never good
1 was bad though it still oozed that brief window of 1990s goth girl charm when being a dark chick was in vogue.
2 is fantastic and the height of the series.
3 is fun but has a lot of squandered potential. All the bad writing the show would devolve into started in 3.
4 was fun but schizophrenic. The writers weren't willing to commit to the change going to college would bring, or the alienation not going would have. They refused to take the brave route and have Buffy be a blue collar girl. She never really suffers the loss of relationships or opportunities going to or not going to college entails. The show becomes a stagnant parody in this season.
5 is a mess but the whole Dawn thing was interesting. Glory is the best non-vampire villain in the show and it's not even close. They ended the season with some real balls.
6 is when the show becomes trash and never recovers.
7 feels like an intentional insult to the fans.
Still the property itself is extremely viable and a spin off with a new slayer which isn't full of forced DEI shit would be a huge hit. There is a vacuum of monster shows with cute white goth adjacent teenagers that everyone wants but which studio execs refuse to give us.
Intercourse with SMG
I liked season 7. Why do people say it's bad? The First evil, Caleb, and ubervampires were cool villains, and there was a lot of tense action and great character moments. Seasons 4-5 were a lot worse.
Yeah, high school years were the best. Though I still enjoy 4 and 5, especially 4 since it has a lot of my favorite stand-alone episodes.
Wish they had done more with the college setting, don't know why they abandoned it so fast.
It becomes pure misery porn by season 6.
can you imagine if giles finally got tired of buffy's brattiness and bent her over his knee in the library and hiked up her skirt and tugged down her panties and smacked that insolent little bottom until it was red? haha
My favorite is Season 5.
All of the seasons are still better than all of modern television.
The worst season of Buffy is better than anything on today.
I don't even really remember much of the series though I remember liking it until she left High School. After High School, I remember hating it.
Except for a single scene where Giles kills that shapeshifting tranny god. That was pure kino.
I remember a lot more from Angel. Season 1 and 2 were great, then I don't remember much of Season 3 and 4 other than hating them because Cordelia was character assassinated and his son was such a charisma vacuum it killed the entire series. That is, until season 5 which was back to pure kino but only had like 12 episodes or something.
I wish the comics interiors weren't butt ugly
you have shit taste
Season 5 of Angel had 22 episodes. Same as all the other seasons.
She had super strength. Multiple guys tried to grab her like that and she put them in their place.
The writers weren't willing to commit to the change going to college would bring
I think it’s a lot more realistic to have her drop out of college.
She’s deluded herself into thinking she can have some semblance of a normal life, but is confronted with the fact that with her mom dying, her being a slayer, having to take care of a magically conjured sister, and trying to keep a house in order with no income coming in is just not conducive to her college girl fantasy.
It’s like the real world….where life just keeps kicking you when you’re down and you’re forced to give up your plans and dreams.
Having her decide from the onset she wouldn’t even try to pursue higher education wouldn’t have been as fulfilling.
No u
She had super strength. Multiple guys tried to grab her like that and she put them in their place.
yeah but she would probably let giles do it
she's jewish tho
Season 5 of Angel had 22 episodes. Same as all the other seasons.
Did it? Shit man, I should rewatch that. I can't remember shit.
Season 5 of Angel had 22 episodes. Same as all the other seasons.
It did? The whole thing felt really rushed and the ending kind of came out of nowhere.
this show was a shitty tween soap opera and you're a homosexual if you like it
2 is fantastic and the height of the series.
3 is fun but has a lot of squandered potential. All the bad writing the show would devolve into started in 3.
Personally I would swap this. I think 3 is the height of the series and 2 was still figuring things out.
What season 3 potential do you think was squandered?
Why do people say it's bad
The season long slayer slumber party at Buffy's house combined with Principal Woods being annoying as fuck.
first three (or at least second and third) are very special but all seasons are good
1 is bad due to low budget and they hadnt figured it out yet but it has its charm
2 and 3 are classic
4 has very bad mythos arc but excellent motws
5 has both strong mythos and motws
6 has a weird tone and tried to break formula, it doesnt always land but it's meaningful
7 is pretty good for a conclusion season that tries to recapture some nostalgia while looking forward
season long slayer slumber party at Buffy's house
You say that like it's somehow bad?
Go home slayer girl.
I don't know exactly why but I can't force myself to get through a full season after season 4. I feel like it loses a lot of it's charm at the beginning of s4
What season 3 potential do you think was squandered?
no buffy/faith sex scenes
1. Feels like Are You Afraid of the Dark? except they're allowed to say "bitch" and talk about sex. Xander's pursuit of Buffy is cringe.
2. The first half feels like season one. Angelus is where the quality shifts into quality television.
3. Great. The Mayor is still a fantastic villain. The cheating arc was a shit way to tie up a loose plot thread.
4. Lousy except for "Hush" and a couple other ones.
5. Very good. Peak Buffy here. Solid villain. Brings a solid conclusion to themes it has established for the last five years. This could've been the perfect sendoff if the show got canceled.
6. "We're on UPN now, bitch. We can get away with showing whatever we WANT." Dark. Manages to work well with 'The monsters were us all along!' before that trope wore out its welcome.
7. Begins with promise, starts constructing some interesting story threads. Then the moment Giles returns and the girls invade the house, the show crashes and burns and eats shit and dies.
The writers were rushing to end it because SMG was punching out. There were too many Potentials crammed into the house to do anything meaningful with in 22 45 minute episodes. All the main characters, meanwhile, still needed their arcs finalized. Instead it became The Spike Show because there was just not enough time and too many teenage girls and a woman hating preacher (boy he sure doesn't like women) and an army of super vampires and the black principal.
Not really. Buffy and Angel greatest trait is the character´s development and that only starts to take off noticeably around season 3. Even though the first seasons have great villains like the Master, Angelus, Spike and Dru, Buffy herself starts out pretty boring.
It is only once she starts becoming more than just a teenager in love with super powers that the show really starts to take form. As a character Buffy is always the most interesting when she is at odds with her own power, with the slayer.
This struggle between power and humanity is only fleshed out as a function of time and as Buffy grows as a person. It´s the same for the other characters, Faith only becomes more interesting once she starts her redemption arc, Weasley only becomes more interesting as he develops a backbone and overcomes his anxieties and self confident issues, Cordelia only becomes more interesting as she has to face the real world after her life goes to the gutter, Willow only becomes more interesting as her exploration of the path of magic starts becoming an addiction and obsession...
In short when the characters are taken away from school and into the real world they all get to become more interesting as individuals and that´s more important to the show than the villains themselves.
le strong warrior woman
cringe
I mostly agree except
1 was bad though it still oozed that brief window of 1990s goth girl charm
1 was the worst of the early seasons but still very good. There's a level of intimacy between the main characters that fades as their relationships get padded out and new friends get added. The setting is also scarier in a fun campy way. Buffy is often outmatched by her most basic enemy, and we also learn about other, more powerful enemies. There's a lot of mystery to it.
3 is fun but has a lot of squandered potential. All the bad writing the show would devolve into started in 3.
It has the best one-shot episodes plus Faith and the Mayor who are the show's best villains imo.
Glory is the best non-vampire villain in the show and it's not even close
Glory is great but the Mayor did the same schtick much better. Glory's actress and her little minions are cringe on a rewatch.
Another reason s1-3 is good is that Giles was a main character. He has the most distinctive personality in a gang of snarky teens.
Angel has its moments but never hits either the highs or lows of Buffy.
Angel took more risks.
season five is supernatural-tier slop with worse cinematography
I like the fourth one. Spike as a reluctant ally was funny before he became a simp.
Maybe before the incident with the syringe
1: not too interesting
2: kino
3: kino
4: boring AF
5: slightly better than 4
6: slightly better than 5
7: KINO
watching the hd remaster slop
that's not how you should watch buffy
brat
buffy
good
OK, are we now supposed to say we like certain shit because libs dropped it? Buffy was never good, it was the precursor for all the girlboss feminist garbage
the eye candy was top tier though
the first three seasons were good
So is Angel a hebephile? There's a flashback to Buffy's old school, pre-Slayer days.
and? So is her sister
yes
he's a pedo
but it's okay because he's hot
whoa is that an AGE DIFFERENCE?
Hello zoomie
I don't agree with that. I enjoyed Angel a lot more than Buffy. Wesleys growth through the series alone was more satisfying than most of Buffy and Angel never got so bad as Buffy after High School.
yes, it's canon
