I've been flossing and taking care of my teeth ever since I was a kid. Every time I go for a cleaning, my dentist says my teeth look great. Feels good. Getting all the gunk out of there is so satisfying.

I can understand the frustration on how a lot of denistry and healthcare in general nickel and diming patients. But you should still get cleanings any how. Just as a preventative measure just like with any other health check up. Plus making sure you exercise proper oral hygeine at home.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. Supposedly some lab in Japan developed an experimental drug that shuts off a protein we develop that inhibits further tooth growth. It's being used in limited trials at the moment but I don't know what potential side effects might be in the long run. Or the potential cost of such a treatment would be.

You do know that acids eat away at the enamel and it never grows back, right?

Doesn't matter. You don't need enamel. Dentin grows back and will more than compensate for any lost enamel. We have countless examples of skeletal remains from pre-modern humans that have all the enamel worn away but are otherwise perfectly healthy, no cavities, and thick dentin that grew to replace any lost enamel.

I haven't been to the dentist in about 5 years but I have no tooth pain, I brush intermittently which I know is bad but I use alot of mouth wash, drink lots of milk, drink tap water, and don't drink any soda.
If my teeth feel grimy I just wipe them down. They're all white so I have no complaints.

Do you floss in addition to that as well? I know it gets tedious but that is very important. Don't want to risk developing gum diseases. Which could lead to a whole host of problems like heart disease.
