Star Trek is good because of great writing.

The first season and the first half of S2 of the original series is some of the best writing ever showcased on television. Balance of Terror, City on the Edge of Forever, The Corbomite Maneuver, and more besides are up there with the best episodes of television ever written, en par with Twilight Zone in my opinion.
There are episodes of the later series that are just as good but it's for people who enjoy thinking about ethical dilemmas and moral quandaries, things like that.

The issue is twofold:

1) A ton of prequelfags are zoomers who like it because they love watching their favorite action figures fight.

2) You haven't watched a film released before 1970, and if you had you'd understand why the prequels not conforming to the post-1980 blockbuster slop formula isn't evidence of ineptitude on Lucas' part and doesn't make these films bad.

Yeah but it looks cheesy, the acting sucks, and I don't care for the Roddendingleberrys communist themes. Star Wars is superior because of The Rule of Cool.

Allow me to chime in here;
Star Trek, as in TOS and TNG is about a humanity that has overcome greed and all the petty crabs in a bucket bullshit that holds us back as a species. We are now exploring the universe and seeking out new frontiers and new adventures. Overcoming adversity and dealing with ethical dilemmas and moral quandaries as said here And it's done through well written characters played by great charismatic actors that you genuinely enjoy spending time with. The ships are cool, the Enterprise D in particular is the kind of place I'd love to live on and venture the galaxy in.
It's a lot of fun with so much humanity and humour and a good episode makes you feel it in your heart and think with your head.

This isnt a right-left thing, its a zoomer thing. Zoomers are really into this thing where they like the still shots/cool edits/aethetics of certain pop culture things, especially from the 2000s. The actual content itself isnt as important as the look.

In this case, its more about Hayden Christiansen with this dramatic, brooding, nihilistic look that appeals to young men for a "literally me" factor and young women for a "hes so hot, mysterious, and cool" factor.

The Ewoks are infinitely worse than anything in the PT up until the end of AOTC. ROTS might not be for everyone and Lucas isn't at his best but it's still better than every movie that isn't ANH, ESB, TPM, AOTC, and Rogue One.

Not conforming to a formula doesn't automatically make it good. Besides, strange structure isn't the biggest criticism and is really mostly a complaint against the first movie.
Over reliance on special effects and a plastic look, terrible dialogue and acting, and unconvincing character motivations are much bigger critiques.
