How did it stay good for 10 seasons

It didn't.
The seasons without Daniel Jackson are bad.
The seasons after O'Neill left are bad.

This but also the first season is pretty bad

Is it actually good? I just recently watched the movie and started on the series, and it kind of just feels like jankier Star Trek TNG. Other than being somewhat charming B-grade sci-fi, what is the overall draw for the whole series (and those beyond it)?

That's it. That's the draw.

WRONG.

It was made when muttamerica was still white

America was never white, you fags were just better at pretending other races didn't exist. And the reason Stargate's good is because it tried to be a more self-aware TNG. They still ended up using every single sci-fi trope at some point thoughever.

Like all sci-fi tv it picks up in season 2 and has a good long run. A fun part is watching humanity steadily advance rather than maintaining a status quo like trek or babylon 5 tend to (minus an epilogue)

what season has them both bro

only seen movie

fell off hard at s7 or 8

By never being that good to begin with

Jonas is king. Post S7 Zombie Daniel is terrible, none of the soul of his previous character. This is why Atlantis is better, McKay actor knew he was hired to play a nerd and played a nerd, he wasn't an insecure faggot who took steroids to get over the shame of his failed solo career.
O'Neil sucked donkey balls from S6 and phoned it in, they rewrote entire episodes where he got knocked out in the first 5 minutes so he could sit on his increasingly fat ass.
T-dog and Carter were consistently good and never put in a bad performance. Hammond of Texas is the greatest.

literally just to make a thread about this but i saw this at the top of the catalog
this guy i know is watching it every day when i go buy my beer and he suggested it. i didn't like the movie but i also saw the movie 25 years ago

Avril Lavigne

would

You know you can marry people from other countries?

Imagine being this sexy in your 60's. She was cute as a button in SG-1, too, and her breasts are huge for her frame. And I don't think I've ever seen a picture of her without a toe ring on.

What did you like most about my character in SG-1?

w-well I uh Janet was always very wholesome and she was a good team-

This but also the first season is pretty bad

When does it get good?

She kept them well hidden

It was pretty shit once it hit the replicators people just ignored it because they liked the cast.

1st season finale imo

wrong.

this. Jonas was cool.

Some people call bras 'Over the Shoulder Boulder-Holders'.

i'd drain my balls so hard for dr. fraiser.

Replicators were cool when they were bug things and dumb when they turned into people. Shotguns make any episode better.

So how often do you think Carter was '''''picking him up from school''''''?

Looks like someone already did.

It wasn't good for 10 seasons. It was good through 7.

Unironically the last 2 seasons were better than 6-8 because at least the entire cast was present. The last season where RDA was fully present was season 5. Honestly season 6 was probably the worst season of the show because of how absent a quarter of the team was every episode. Just go back and watch a couple of episodes in season 6 and it will be so noticeable how checked out RDA was. He is either just not even in the episode or does some shit like sit in a control room all episode with occasional cuts back to him looking through a window.

There is no bad stargate season. There are bad individual episodes that I just skip. But each season is good in its own way.

I recently realized the same actress was also the nurse who got raped by a ghost in the X-Files episode Excelsis Dei. She looked so familiar. Anyway, try being a ghost.

She looks like a gender bender of the severance protag

The show suffered from post-game syndrome. They maxed all the stats on the heroes and the villains. There was nothing at stake anymore.

You have to be at least 18 to post here

If only Anubis looked into Daniel's subconsious when he possesed him... The show would've been over.

For intents and purposes, this is why I consider season 8's 'threads' to be the true final of StarGate-SG1, the stakes presented in that episode could not be matched. All life in the galaxy hung in the balance with Anubis as the sole survivor and future ruler of all new life made in his image.

Honestly a banger. My fave Daniel episode followed by Absolute Power.

Lets be honest with ourselves. They were surviving on pure bullshit and plot armor from season 1.

a more self-aware TNG.

While also relying more on Deus Ex Machina than any other scifi show before or since.

aren't people going to notice that every planet looks exactly the same, like British Columbia?

Marty dead

Baal dead

Jacob dead

Hammond of Texas dead

Jaffaman dead quite horribly

Momoa's career dead

I could be wrong, but my recollection is that Daniel dies in season 5, season 6 is the Jonas season, 7 is the liberation of chulak, and 8 is the General O'Neill season where RDA was essentially part time.

It didn't. Seasons 9 and 10 fucking sucked.

Momoa just starred in a billion dollar movie.

It's funny how one of the more mediocre stargate actors went on to have the best career. But to his credit, he knows that his look is all that matters.

You ruined it.

damn
comparable to julia benson

O'neill's dialogue becomes nothing but quips at some point. I didn't even notice it until someone online pointed it out then I couldn't unhear.

>Jaffaman dead quite horribly

Obi Ndefo got in a car wreck which saw both legs amputated in 2019, he died in 2024.

fuck.

>Baal dead

2021

Oh wow him too.

I never knew that the actress who played Zarin did porn in the early 90s.

The one tokra chick was a playboy model or something.

The producers and Michael Shanks enjoyed eye candy.

terrible face

annoying faggot

Lots of US Department of Defense money went into it so they could make sure any search for Stargate lead to this instead of the military project

every ancient/ascended woman in the system gets wet as fuck

He was officially part time in season 8, but he had been part time since season 6. For the majority of episodes, he would come in, film his scenes in like 1-2 days, then go back home to California. Going back and rewatching this it becomes obvious, because he is never on more than 1-2 sets per episode, his speaking roles are drastically reduced, and in general his character doesn't drive the plot line at all. This isn't some schizo Anon Babble conspiracy either, the writers have spoken about the clever(and not so clever) ways they came up with to limit his filming time.

we need a guy to play a tough independent mercenary typ-

McKay was great, but Ronan and Tayla were both extremely boring characters, and Tayla's shtick of being "tribal spiritual leader" got old fast. Sheppard was okay, but kinda boring as well. I'll give you that whatshisface phoned it in with O'Neil later on, but the character was still a lot more enjoyable for the majority of SG-1's seasons.

T-dog and Carter were consistently good and never put in a bad performance. Hammond of Texas is the greatest.

All very true. McKay was really the only primary Atlantis character I really enjoyed watching besides maybe Weir, but I'm not sure I'd have liked her character as much as I did if she hadn't been so attractive.

I liked Atlantis, but it doesn't compare to SG-1, not only due to the mostly worse character writing, but I also think it lost the spark of personality with toeing the line between serious and comically lighthearted that made SG-1 great.

the funniest thing about the replicator episodes is they always put on replicator safety glasses

If you just skip every Taylor scene, makes it more much enjoyable

Worst. Episode. Ever.

The Ori arc is underrated, seasons 9 and 10 were really good.

RLM said they don't watch Star Gate so it must be bad

I don't understand, son

It didn't. It stayed good for 8 seasons.

The seasons without Daniel Jackson are bad.

No. Filtered. Jonas is better than Daniel.

The seasons after O'Neill left are bad.

No. Filtered. In fact the worst season is season 8, Jack's last one, where he becomes a totally incompetent cartoon character.

She didn't get raped by a ghost, she got raped by one of her patients who was astral projecting using magic Chinese herbs.

Why was Joe Bob Briggs in SG1?
