i'm really dreading the dunc and egg series. i really like those books, best thing martin has done.
either its going to be good and no one is going to be watching it because even the normies were put off of got and hotd. or it will be pure shit and people will like it, and i'll have to hear about the shitty show version for years.
Unfortunately season 2 is so bad I dare say even the glorified fanfiction of Rangz season 2 was far more enjoyable and entertaining than HotD season 2.

hbo omitted certain characters for no reason to have more scenes that didn’t happen in the books for rhaenyra and alicent. All of these deviations have ruined the narrative, GRRM has no hope for the series going forward because key events can’t happen without certain characters and because of the changes they’ve made for existing ones. Can’t believe hbo let gay feminist slop writers tank hotd and tlou back to back.
George has already seen the entire season and he loves it. The release date was only moved because they don’t want more than one big ticket show airing at a time.

They won back so many normies with season 1 of hotd only to piss them off and scare them away again with season 2. I doubt they will come back for season 3 of hotd but they might give d&e a chance because it’s a new story.

One could argue that he was able to call out HOTD s2 for being shit. I think in his old age he’s a bit more critical at people fucking up his life work

I honestly can't see how anyone could have possibly liked it. Only good scenes were a couple with Cole.
Everyone made him sound like a Khornate berserker I eventually just had to read the book. I came away disappointed. Hopefully the show will ham it up.

the show will obviously just have Helaena an hero because her daughter dies in the same circumstances as Maelor in the book. there is no plot value in a third child killing themselves in the epilogue.

those books felt really weird to me, dunc felt like a bit/side character in his own story
book 1 dunc has a duel and doesnt get executed because he happened to meet aegon
book 2 dunc hangs around while an old man has a feud with a widow which is resolved by the man marrying her, while dunc is there.
book 3 dunc enters another tourney (because the last one went so well), turns out the tourney was just to gather men for a Blackfyre revolt. Which immediately fails because no one wants to support him, so gets captured and executed. While dunc just watches.
normies don't get "pissed off" except in exceptional circumstances like GoT season 8. they just lose interest if there are too many boring episodes, which was the problem for them with season 2.
there isn't enough plot in Dunk & Egg to sustain a proper series of TV.
if it were 20 years ago they would hire a writers room to come up with their own weekly episode plots but no one would have the balls to do that with GRRM's work where there is no freedom to improvise potentially uncanonical events.

From my understanding it was originally going to air at the same time as The White Lotus but they didn’t want a gap in their schedule later in the year. So it was moved, now airing somewhere between September and November.

fwiw: normies are just watching to be distracted and in the hope that nice things happen to the characters that they like (i.e. the character they have projected their aspirations onto). its not complicated.
GoT delivered both until season 8. even if HotD did "everyone dies" perfectly it probably still wouldn't work for the same size audience.
