It had one of the worst endings to a series ever, and after such a spectacular start. Actually it was on a steep decline ever since the basement reveal and shortly after the Marley / Eldia reveal.

It's directly comparable to GOT - up until the last season it was a juggernaut, but once the terrible final season was over all hype died and everyone forgot (albeit I will say, for GOT, the finale wasn't actually terrible, it was how we got there. AOT is just completely irredeemable in every single way. Actually zero good points to that train wreck of a finish.)

The japanese girl character made me hyper aware of that trope in anime/manga where a setting outside of Japan with a cast of characters that's predominant non-Japanese has to have a token Japanese, either full blooded or hapa.
