Why don't they just hard reset?

Why don't they just hard reset?
It's what the comics always did when they got too bloated/convoluted/preachy, and it clearly works better than beleaguredly trudging on as more and more irrelevant plot and characters keep getting piled on top of itself.

It's still a decade or so too early for that. Once they've wrung out as much as Fox from the X-MEN I.P. I'm sure Marvel will circle back and start doing reboots of "Thor" / "Iron Man" / "Captain America" / etc.

Hard reset implies losing all of the A listers that are on cheaper contracts. I imagine a Pugh contract would cost more now than it originally did when she signed for the black widow movie. I also imagine a Hailee contract would cost way more now than it did during the hawkeye show days. A soft reset will come after Secret Wars (2027). But there is no shot they do a hard reset and get rid of EVERYONE.

I'd expect at least 75% of the heroes to die though within the next 2 avengers movies.

They’re only doing the Secret Wars so they can finally add Xmen and start juicing the FUCK out of them too. It’s hardly going to be a hard reset

The interconnected gimmick is all Marvel has. In the comics, movies and everything. The characters, sans Daredevil and Punisher who might as well be DC characters, can't stand on their own. Marvel doesn't have a Dark Knight Returns or All-Star Superman type of monolithic standalone. All their brand amounts to is cheap universe shenanigans, gimmicks and events. Even if the new DCU they're attempting fails (which it most likely will) DC can always pump out another Joker or The Dark Knight standalone and bounce back. Marvel doesn't have that. The universe crap is all they have. It's an infinite slippery slope that will only get worse. No one but the most no-life losers have a good clue of what the hell the timeline is about now. I suspect Marvel will dwindle the fuck out after the big two event movies and go quietly while DC will drop the universe crap in the end of this decade and go back to the 2000's model of standalone movies. Ideally, Marvel/Disney should do this too but they never will because, as was said, the universe gimmick is all they have and all they can do.

I get that, I'm saying that a hard reset is very unlikely. It will probably kill off most of the tv show characters (excluding dd), and most of the heroes from movies that flopped. Also likely to be a send off for legacy characters like Thor, Hulk, Bucky.

the comics always did when they got too bloated/

You're thinking of DC.
I don't think marvel has ever had a hard reset, its all in the same continuity where time gets blurry.
They reset individual characters, like the time iron man turned out to be working with kang so they go back in time to get a younger stark to beat him and replace himself.

Isn't the hard reset more a DC thing?

pretty much what is saying. this works in DC's favour as they can always rebound but Marvel has always fucked itself with how stubborn it is in the universe bullshit.

sendoff

It makes me sick how grim the future is gonna be, the M-She-U meme really wasn’t too far off, damn near ALL of the legacy replacements are women and almost all of them are unlikeable, like what’s gonna fucking happen once Secret Wars is over? An all women Avengers?? Recast nu-universe variants? Fuckinf hell. I’m happy mutants are finally gonna be in and will probably only exclusively follow them but Feige’s dumbfuck decisions are still going to ripple and affect my faves

Its fine. Its comic books so its easy to ignore that kind of inconsistency.
And dc's problem is that they reboot the timeline to streamline things, and then break their necks racing to retreading the same stories and re-establish the status quo.
And mervel has plenty of alternate universes for one shots. Like the new ultimates run which has been interesting.
I also just read earth-x the other day which is really good (sort of like their version of kingdome come).

I don’t understand the Absolute line, is it set in a universe that’s not in the 52 worlds? The characters are fun as fuck I liked all of them except Supes on the very first chapter

It's what the comics always did when they got too bloated/convoluted/preachy

Marvel Comics has literally never done a hard reset. DC comics reboots every five minutes and it's cost them readers in the long run.

World manipulated by Darkseid, in response to Marvel's New Ultimate world

Marvel Comics has NEVER done the hard reset. Everything is in continuity. DC has done the hard reset multiple times (and undone it multiple times).

In all the multiverses there is only one darkseid.
He kills himself to create another world that is infected with his essence which scrambles some origins. And like said, its just DC Ultimates.

And how will that cure capeshit fatigue or improve the movies? The retards involved in the production are still the same and they will keep hiring fellow-minded retards.

Yea it's going to be rough, I can't even try to sugarcoat it. With the cast of the thunderbolts roster though we can assume they are learning their lesson though.

What is the solution to this? Does firing feige even change anything or are these decisions made above him via Disney? Does changing the casting directors even do anything?

I say we nuke Hollywood from horbit.

Kek

orbit, I'm dumb

Spider-Man is Marvels strongest standalone character but they are completely fucked in actually using him due to Sony still holding the rights and requiring complicated legal deals to even use him

When does he get his own film?

cc.jpg - 864x1152, 557.66K

Does he have a strong diverse female sidekick who can quickly replace him?

That happens in the Netflix spinoff where he's written out of the show after three episodes and she takes over. The show is cancelled after its five episode second season that came two and half years after the first season was released.

Marvel doesn't have that

nigger they have spider-man

they need better writers, scripts, vfx and less greenscreen

Nothing since the Raimi movies has been standalone.

ppugh is not pulling in numbers. ditch her and hailee. Make a new Cap, Iron Man, Thor, etc

And they can't really use him much. Sony still owns the film rights to the character and anytime they want to use him in the MCU Disney has to pay Sony a portion of the revenue.

They need lower budgets. Constraints breed ingenuity and quality, lack of them creates apathy and gluttony. Look at that fucking Warfare movie that just came out, $20mil and it's better than every single $400mil marvel shitpile from the last half a decade.

Why don't they just hard reset?

They are too knee deep in "following the plan" which it will absolutely not work as good as endgame, but they prefer to crash and burn before admitting none care for their current slop

They are doing a reboot with convergence.
Basically they are going to recast most of the universe .
We've known this for 5 years now. They'll do the battle world then combine all the multiverses. It's literally convergence the story line. Everything will restart back.

Marvel Comics has literally never done a hard reset

They do a lot of "alternative universes". Literally the same gimmick

Anon a one shot side story is not at all the same as a title wide universal reboot.

i agree with you however that warfare film looks like garbage
shant be watching sorry
i think sinners is a good example however
putting the black cast aside, its shot well and has great music
when was the last time an mcu film had music people remembered or even found good to listen to other than the avengers theme like over a decade ago
they need to step it up but honestly why should they when their slop still sells decently

It's ridiculous tbdesu

make way for the heroes

Kek this just isn't true. Just watch

falcon and winter soldier show

black widow movie

and you're all good. If you REALLY want to be caught up these are extras that don't really change your thunderbolts viewing experience that much if at all.

Ant man and the wasp

captain america brave new world

hawkeye show

After Secret Wars the only ones that stay are Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four.

They are going to soft reset with Doomsday (Killing unpopular characters) & Secret Wars (Bringing fan favorites + Mutants).
They already have a 10 year plan for the X-Men and allegedly Holland will stay for a new trilogy (as long as Sony cedes some control to him). FF+New Avengers allegedly were setup to be in multiple movies.

It's what the comics always did

Marvel have never done that. Soft resets yes, hard resets no.

+ deadpool and dr strange. But yes almost all characters will get killed off within the next 2 avengers movies.

hard resets no

They tried to do it with the Ultimate line (It flopped).

That's not a hard reset, that's an alternate universe, 616 continued as normal.

That's what Doomsday/Secret wars is supposed to be, a in universe reset

They already hard resetting X-Men. The problem is all the new shit is bad because of the writing. Hard reset doesn't fix anything. Just look at Star Wars when they hard reset old EU. The old shit was pretty bad but they lost the few glimmers that didn't make you regret reading any of it. You have to fix the creative direction and QC

They sold it as a hard reset at the time to get new readers.

A soft reset, it's not going to invalidate what came before and start over from scratch, it will just shake things up to begin the next era of the franchise focused on the X-Men.

That's great, 616 still continued as usual. When DC rebooted with Crisis on Infinite Earths and Flashpoint, it was a reset on their main universe.

When DC rebooted with Crisis on Infinite Earths and Flashpoint, it was a reset on their main universe.

They later walked back on those 2.
