Yeah Druckmann is addicted to this weird paradox of humanizing the dispensable goons by giving them unique names other characters yell out and shit but also still requiring that you kill them and also treating them via plot and relation to the main characters as dispensable goons.

In the game they do eventually raise a kid together on a farm for a while but when Ellie finds out Dina is pregnant she's not happy about it at all, because her being pregnant makes her a liability and gets in the way of her revenge. Also Jessie being the father makes Ellie's future with Dina unclear and affects her in a big way since she assumes that him and Dina will get back together. In the show Jessie isn't even considered and Ellie/Dina happily discuss being parents together even though they're barely a couple.

In a way, Ellie killing Abby is almost like killing Lev's Joel. Lev saved Dinah from Abby. So letting Abby live isn't so much about sparing her to stop the cycle of violence, but more like saving Lev.

In-game doesn't promote polyamory though, or at least not in the way you imply. Dina explicitly says she's done with Jesse, Jesse approves Ellie going for Dina or at least is OK with it. But this is all with very limited information since there are only like 3 or 4 real scenes with Jesse in them and once he joins up in Seattle they skirt around the subject but there's too much going on for a real discussion about it. I'll say it's convenient for the plot that they killed Jesse off, him still being there would have made the ending messy.

eh, having played all of those the degree of choice you're afforded isn't all that great. The story doesn't really branch out much like it would if player choice truly mattered, in the end you're just playing the same events with slight modifications and the pay-off is always the same.
I dunno it feels like player choice has stagnated in mainstream games in the form it got hyped up in during the early 00s. Only games with RPG aspects still include it as an expected feature and most do it in the exact same way it's been done for 20 years.
