I remember watching an episode of essence of emeril once where he did a vodka tasting in the first segment where he pounded a half dozen shots, turned beet red, and spent the rest of the show visibly trying to not fall over.

They made a tv movie out of the book. It did really well so they decided to make a theatrical one but they were worried people wouldn't go see something that was already on tv which lead to them also releasing a sequel to the TV movie (based on the second book) at the same time. This split The Ring series into two different streams where they made sequels that had nothing to do with the books following the theatrical release version and movies based on the books following the tv version.

im not sure if joe bob mentioned it, but the book Ring has a sequel of its own called Spiral, which also received its own movie adaptation in 1998 iirc. Not to be confused with Junji Ito's Uzumaki (also known as Spirals in the west), which also received a live action adaptation in 2000
