Saves
I wouldn't say saves. The movie was average at best. Trailers made it seem more fun than it was.
HOWEVER.
Instead of making the incel white boy with a dark side the evil unredeemable bad guy.
They show that he grew up feeling like shit, has mental health problems, probably bipolar, grew up in an abusive home, neglected and abused drugs. Recipe for disaster. But instead of just telling poor little whyte boi to suck it up and kill him. They understand him and make him feel like he's not alone and that someone cares. Which is all anyone really wants, even if they have a dark side. They could have doubled down on the woke anti-white boy stuff like they usually do, but instead went for understanding and heart.
Makes me tap the sign. The system will be backing down on a number of things.
they wanted Steven Yeun for this role
what were they thinking?
this guy is clearly Bob.
Insane they wanted that gook as their first choice
yeah, ive enjoyed steven's other work but i dont think he could have really done this justice, whoever the fuck they got did a good job
Not a bad actor, but completely unsuited for the role. The movie was saved by delays forcing him out of the production.
Is it just me or was this movie missing a 3rd act? Maybe it needed a 4th? The ending caught me by surprise is all I’ll say. Loved the actor who played sentry.
Lewis Pullman, son of Bill Pullman, best known for Lone Starr in Spaceballs.
(me)
and also the president in Independence Day, forgot about that.
Remember this dude looked a lot like Tom Holland in that El Royale hotel movie, he has the best moment too
We're done with capeshit, it's over.
it died on the vine
ive seen at least one person call him the perfect Ben Reilly and yeah, i can totally see it.
maybe the real thunderbolts* were the friends he made along the way
Shit on it as you will, when they showed Bob's abusive family and his mom putting him down for standing up for her and seeing Bob just try to fake a smile and play it off as nothing, that hit really fuckin' close to home. The actor was really good at looking like he's faking a smile but holding back tears.
mfw when that's literally the ending
mfw i actually kinda like it
i don't know how to feel.
it is marvel's suicide squad, but it isnt derivative of gunn's the suicide squad, yelena's speech about going to work, going home to no one, and drinking, was what got me
They still make MCU movies? That shit is so ass.
Right? I can see that being a lot of people's cycle. There were a lot of mentions of lonliness and regret in it. I wanna hug a friend who needs it now.
will you be my friend?
we're already friends anon.
yelena saying to bob, that it hurts but he has to let it out, damn that shit hit too.
also missed opportunity to advertise this with paint it black by the stones
They were keeping Sentry/Bob's story away from normie public eyes mostly. Didn't have much payoff. The ooooo superpowers scene was pretty dumb too. The real heart was seeing the kid's dark past and on re-watch he was choking back his pain and playing up the friendly Bob bit.
Didn't have much payoff.
i liked it just ecause it kinda plays into the the sentry/void looming over the entire film like jaws/godzilla or a natural disaster
sentry walks down from the stairs and his head is above the skyline in the background
KINO
capeshit is now washed for the most part
thankfully
lol all the mentally ill depressed fags itt who don't deal with their pain by renting hookers and crying in their arms like a real man
It was refreshing to see that the movie spared us from the constant shaming and political messaging about oppression that's been almost ever present since after Endgame. Sure the MC is girlbossing around, but they also let her actually be vulnerable and break down, rather than be the stoic Captain Marvel template.
Hell, they let her father be the one to comfort her like a kid and offer his unconditional support, which is exactly what she needed because her whole problem in the movie was the directionless emptiness of living life as a stoic, lonely mercenary going through the motions. She was allowed to have wants, show weakness and rely in others to bear the pain, which is the ultimate message of the film sa Sentry's going through the same thing.
Simple as it was, it actually felt like a comic book story with things to tell beyond the latest propaganda piece. I won't call it a masterpiece or the savior of the MCU, but I actually went out of the theater not feeling more bitter than when I entered.
Hell, they let her father be the one to comfort her like a kid
never saw black widow, is red guardian her biological father or like an adoptive one?
Adoptive father of her and Natasha, as part of an undercover operation but ended up too real.
first half was boring AF and flo pug's accent was horrendous overall 7/10 not bad not great
thats what i assumed, thanks
Is thunderbolts any good bros? My gf likes marvel but thought everything post Endgame was shit apart from the Hawkeye show.
This movie is above average but its too little too late for the MCU. Too much damage was done by the woke disney slop from the last tv/movies. This would have done well 10 years ago maybe released next to GOTG1.
Florence Pugh is a schizo in real life but she's good as Yelena in capeshit stuff.
the consensus here and on other sites is that it feels more like a pre endgame movie in terms of quality.
it's not the best Marvel movie ever, but it is suprisingly far better than most recent stuff
movie shoulda been one of the first after endgame
shady government steps in to co opt the avengers
That could have actually worked too. Instead we got watered down tv slop.
Thank you for a non retarded opinion, we will probably go and see it.
More of him please Disney
Regarding the post-credits scene, I gotta ask. What's the obsession with turning Sam Wilson into an obnoxious fucking baby?
In Falcon and the Winter Soldier, I could understand him being rather pissy about the government giving the shield to a new Captain America because he wanted the position retired, that's fine, but his treatment of the guy who's only guilty of being assigned that position through the entire show was petty and immature at best. Even worse because from the start Walker wanted him and Bucky on board to help him fulfill the role well and do justice to the name.
Now it's years later, years in which he hasn't bothered to reform the Avengers, but he goes and throws a fit when a new Avengers group is formed after they saved New York from it's doom (much like the originals did), and he goes as far as to stir up legal trouble to put this new team down. A team that, need I remind you, includes fucking BUCKY.
Bucky himself even goes to talk to him and it is said that he got shut down, despite them supposedly being friends.
Yeah I always thought the Sentry/Void was an interesting character with the question "What if Superman was Bipolar?".
Fit well in the comic books but he was too powerful/dangerous so they had to have him fuck off for issues on end.
that's the problem with OP characters (reality warpers, omega level mutants, literal gods, etc.) most writers can't write for them so they have to sequester them from the plot (else you get hacks that just do deus ex machinas with these kinda of characters).
I think they will kill him off in Doomsday. His powers cant work in an MCU movie. He has to be either totally nerfed like in the end post credit scenes of this movie and just be like a comedic support guy with no powers otherwise he will win any battle because hes too OP if he operated at full powers.
original creator has a contract for a possible Sentry movie, so anything's possible.
who is he gonna fight?
he has to fight himself and overcome his darkness
GAY!
Until the MCU finally has its 2 best characters finally meet, it's not even close to being saved.
That speech kinda fucked me up like a slap in the face because everything she described is what my life has literally become. I used to be happy and content, but now it’s just a void where all I do is work, go home to be alone and get drunk. I can’t even “let it out” because last year the only person who would truly care and listen was ripped away with nothing I could do - which is what plunged me into the hole I’m in now.
