We´ve been over this. When you take a story that´s supposed to be a classic hero´s journey and turn it into a political court drama that switches the focus away from the hero in favor of supportive and secondary characters this is what happens. Every. Single. Time.
It´s the reason GoT went to shit on later seasons, it´s the reason the Witcher failed and it´s the reason WoT is irrelevant shit. It can´t be done. (RoPE fails for a whole different set of reasons BTW).
It´s honestly baffling. These "writers" must be really conceited to think they know better than thousands of years of storytelling theory.

I don't think enough people appreciate how badly Game of Thrones killed the public's interest for anything even remotely genre-adjacent to it. Fantasy, historical epics, swordslop, vikingslop, etc. Game of Thrones was so huge and so exhausting that everyone is totally burnt-out of the aesthetic and they zone out when ads for knock-offs like this come on.

GoT had Jon Snow, Azor Ahai resurrected. Aegon Targaryen, defender of the realm and rightful king by destiny and blood. I mean, obviously the real king is not the one playing politics but the one capable of stopping the army of the dead. There is hardly anything that screams classic hero´s journey more than having a secret legacy and being favored by the ancient gods to vanquish evil. Or what? You think the night king recognized him, he was a secret Targaryen (meaning capable to command dragons) and was able to return from death just because?
No, everything was there for him to be the classic hero. D&D just decided to be assholes and take that from him and then pretend that was Arya´s role just because of one line of dialogue about blue eyes...
Similarly Rand Al Thor and Geralt are the main characters of their respective stories/ prophecies and more importantly go through the different stages of the hero´s journey. You know, ordinary world, call to adventure, rejection of the call, and so on and so forth.

it really seems like the entire premise of the casting was to maximize diversity. an isolated village where people lived for generations, yet there are these different ethnicities perfectly preserved, which would only be possible if all the generations before were racist and incestuous.
