Ultimate escapist school fantasy for kids/teens/college kids about being able to escape your dull normie life where you spend all day being surrounded by normies and fas retards and garbage people to go study cool mysterious stuff in a comfy boarding school. The house system also tapped into suppressed patriotic/nationalist feelings most young people feel before it's beat out of them via social conditioning: and related, of course, is the shameless celebration of European values and holidays with the school celebrating Christmas and easter and halloween with no sign of garbage people holidays like ramadan in sight. Plus the obvious romance angle of being able to date without your cringe parents hanging around to fuck up the fun. And there is also an appeal most won't recognize: the kids in Harry Potter have adventures and hang out without having screens as a distraction. There's no computers, no tvs, no phones to ruin the vibe and suck up people's attention. Zoomies and younger millennials don't know what it was like to live in a world like that but they can feel how shitty it is deep in their bones.
