Not just that, people want to have things that are specifically theirs. This is something the diversity approach can't deliver. When everyone is included equally in something, everyone is equally dissatisfied.
If someone wants to make something particularly for Samoans (for example), they shouldn't feel they have to include equal representation of everyone else. Everyone else can (or at least should) be able to have their own things.
