This is the only part of the movie I can consider to actually be good. Shame the rest of it is just a mix of montages, repetition and staring at the wall.

Why didn't Anora even try to negotiate with the Russians for more money? She should've realized they were desperate to make it all go away and demanded something like $10 million, it was obvious they were extremely wealthy. I know the mom threatened to ruin her but what could she really have done?

She wanted love. That's the fault of the movie for not showing you, but Anora wants to be respected and loved by someone. She wants to be worthy of romance. And that's why it's a comical romance, or a tragical one, she is not made for romance. She is a hooker, and hates that people call her that. Even as a stripper, she has been discarded to the side of theatre that cannot be redeemed, an unloveable and not-romantic object, a sexual fetish.

At that point she knew the marriage wouldn't work out so she may as well have tried to get as much money out of them as possible.

She wanted to resist the urge to be a 'gold digger' and yet found she was unable to have intimacy with Igor. She is a tragic romantic figure. One that wishes for love but cannot have it.

I didn't finish Leo Tolstoy's really long novel, Resurrection. But maybe they should do a live action adaptation of it.
