youre about to remind me me that ds9 sucks
Your posts are terrible. Among the worst in the thread.
But having said that, thanks for bumping it so others (who are superior to you) might find it!
I would not remind you of that which you know so well
Finished season 1 of TNG & if it didn't have the Star Trek name attached, it probably would have been a 50-50 shot at it being cancelled. Hated When the Bough Breaks the most, I wish their species had went extinct if even in desperation, they act like that.
There isn't one truly memorable episode in the entire season. The two holodeck heavy episodes are better than the rest.
There was an anon last thread saying he hated Bashir. I was curious to hear more on why. Aside from episodes where he's the main character he's usually just a helpful background guy. I liked that episode where he goes to the planet thinking he'll be able to solve the issue no problem and needs to accept the bittersweet ending where he can't save everybody. He was also great in Jake's war episode.
Yeah, season 1 is like an alternate reality.
I like the pilot when looking back but generally yes, that's why everybody recommends for new people to skip S1.
Skipping season 1 is even more terrible imo because even though the episodes aren't great on their own, they're heavy on characterization and the introduction of the characters themselves.
these episodes are not great but theyre still pretty good. the rest are very good to great. you dont understand trek
naked now
where no man has gone before
bough breaks
I'd disagree, you can infer who the characters are by watching almost any episode. For somebody that likes Star Trek already I'd say start S1 but for anybody else S2.
youre a retard.
Do you have trouble picking up on character traits if you don't see their introductory episode?
I'd call it skippable but you should watch it anyways so you can appreciate how much better it gets. You don't really need to know who Tasha Yar is for her later appearances & the show is more episodic than DS9 so they show characterization updates all the time, keeping you fresh on who is who.
the rest are very good to great. you dont understand trek
a-1 bait shitpost anon
I don't think S1 should be skipped but let's not get insane. S1 of TNG is en par with the worst of S3 of TOS.
you need to know who Q is. who lawaxana is. who the traveler is. how wesley got on the bridge. who lore is. who minuet is. how the prime directive is being interpreted decades after TOS. need to know who the ferengi are. the borg. need to know who yar is because her sister shows up later and she completely changes the prime timeline.
skipping season 1 is absolutely moronic. season 1 is the more star trek of all of them, TOS included. if you dont want to watch trek skip it all.
TOS season 3 is bad
if you believe that you should try discovery, youll love it
Learn to read, retardo. I said "the worst of S3 of TOS", not that all of S3 was bad.
Your main credentials for Star Trek are satisfied if the crew is having a wacky space adventure -- you think THAT is Star Trek.
It isn't, that's Lost in Space or some campier contemporary sci-fi show.
Star Trek tried to be more like Twilight Zone. It was about good writing, something which apparently flies right over your smooth-brained head.
Yes S1 of TNG is technically a crew traveling the stars and encountering strange peoples and phenomena -- as if that is somehow a concept original to Star Trek -- but there is not a well-written episode in the entire fucking season.
You don't even know what you're talking about. Borg aren't until S2. Yar's sister and later daughter have more than enough exposition. You're telling me you don't get who the Ferengi are without S1? Are you retarded? The only point you could have made you didn't even mention. You didn't even watch the series did you?
i think i figured it out. code of honor is episode 3 and cowards would rather write off the whole season than defend it as the brilliant episode it is.
That's episode 4 you fucking idiot. The pilot was a two parter.
I also want to hear why that anon hates Bashir
i mixed up q who and hide and Q. the rest of my points are completely valid and youre still a retard. the yar saga makes no sense without season 1. completely ruins her sudden appearance in yesterdays enterprise. cant understand it until halfway through the ep.
obviously you can follow along with any trek episode (except half of ds9 because its trash) but theres no reason to make it hard on yourself. every episode of season 1 is a good parable competently presented. skipping it because riker looks funny and some of the effects are lame is super gay and accomplishes nothing. if you like the show you will love season 1. if you dont like it you wont like 2-7
all multi part episodes are treated as one in every way that matter
Not that anon but Bashir was just more interesting before the genetic enhancement shit
should i watch star trek? how does it compare to star wars?
Weyoun 6... :(
In the arms.... offfff the angeeeels....
star wars has 10-20 hours of qualitiy entertainment depending on how you look at it.
star trek offers over 500 hours of quality
Make it so!
What episode is this?
Please be seated...
Today, we stand on the precipice of a new era!
One where the wrinkle-nosed Bajorans cease to exist!
That is all.
i dunno, that's why im asking which version is the best
i don't even know the villain's name
Brothers and Sisters of Cardassia!
Today has been a watershed moment for our noble state. Never has the Cardassian spirit been more nobly on display than when I, Gul Dukat, engaged in sexual relations with the mother of Terok Nor's Kira Nerys.
That is all.
City on the Edge of my Benis
He was just precious
Shut the fuck up, you seething nerd. I'm the one calling all the shots here, guys like you have to dance to the tune I play. You fucked up and humiliated yourself in front of everyone. We'll all remember your posting style and I swear I will bullycide you out of any future threads I see you in.
What do you mean, newfag? We all know who that guy is, he's the guy who says "I only like TOS and ENT and TNG S1 because they're space adventures!"
Thanks anon I missed his reply.
Anon quit playing at being retarded. Everybody knows when recommending the show to recommend starting on S2 then to go back to S1 when you're interested. Why are you so offended some people don't care for S1? You haven't even made a case for it other than "b-but you'll have no idea what's going on" which isn't true at all.
if you dont like season 1 you dont like star trek. thats just the way it is.
I'm going to level with you I've never even watched an episode of Star Trek, just read the wikipedia summaries to follow some of the banter and memes. Tbh it sounds kinda gay.
if you don't like Coke you'll never like Soda
Weird
Watching TOS for the first time
Just got to "Balance of Terror"
mfw
Made wading through some of the shittier early episodes worth it. I'm finding that the episodes that take place mostly on the bridge or some of my favorites. Reminds me of U-571 or something.
Hunt for the Red October owes a lot to that episode
You underestimate how dire the state of television was in 1987. Season one of TNG is certainly rough, particularly in light of later seasons, but it's not like it had to fight off a pile of decent sci-fi. It didn't get picked up locally so I had to wait two years before the cable package expanded enough channels to even see it. I remember trying to piece information together about it with my friends from Starlog magazine articles and shit.
This was a bit harsh
Big nose
This will sell our Trek show
One p too many
There was an anon last thread saying he hated Bashir
Not that anon but I sympathize. I don't mind Siddig El Fadil El Mahdi El Ramalamadingong El Disestablishmentarianism El Shai-Hulud El Herpderp, he was good in GoT and Syriana. I do dislike how Bashir was written as a pathologically ingenuous sperg in early DS9 and secret supersoldier in late DS9.
best rapes (attempts count)
TOS: chekov rapes the klingon
TNG: troi gets mind raped by the psychic after he frames his father for mind raping troi.
DS9: the ferengi
VOY: torres rapes paris
ENT: premature pon farr tpol rapes phlox
Tbh it sounds kinda gay.
so does human civilization, and yet
I know it’s off topic but I’d really like to see that exclusive X-Files comic. I will now impulse buy your TV guide from a rack at the supermarket checkout
DS9: Worf uses Jax to take over Ezris body and rapes her
There isn't one truly memorable episode in the entire season
Datalore was very memorable for being so absurd. “What if we gave the robot an evil twin” is a concept that sticks with you no matter what medium it’s in.
they come back to it a dozen times so you can just skip it.
The imposter Picard episode but the imposter is made of wax
Conflict is resolved when the wax imposter falls into the warp reactor and melts
Nta but it’s the best one of that pairing. Future DataLore exposition sucks, with the possible exception of the old lady killing the crystalline entity and Lore’s not even in that one
At least he got better taste as the show went on
Do you want science fiction or sci-fi entertainment?
