easily the most reddit one
Uh, movies can only do so many things. Like, there is literally a finite list of things that movies can do.
There's nothing wrong with any of this. Are you mentally ill?

All based.
anything
Picture of basedjack. I win.
>realistic time travel
what's next, realistic magic?
you know what he means, smart aleck
I like all of these, what's my tax policy?
So just moving toward the future at different speeds due to relativity and like astronauts becoming younger than their children or some shit? Or confusing nonsense like Primer?
framing device
narrative conceit
non-diegetic music
analog horror
non-linear structure
bifurcated narrative
triptych
TV Tropes has done irreversible damage to the state of film.
Wow Anon Babble has really bad bait.
Anon Babble won
There's everything wrong with all of that. You are mentally well.
non-diegetic music
unironically what's wrong with this? not having a film score to make movie more "atmospheric" or whatever feels more reddit.
The problem isn't the execution of the concept, it's the use of these stupid TV Tropes terms infecting all discussion.
realistic time travel
with scientifically accurate dinos please
Or confusing nonsense like Primer?
yea
stfu, the jurassic park dilophosaurus was both thoroughly inaccurate and the best part of the movie
>found footage
Yeah but I like this one. Where's my sⲟyjak?
found footage is a crutch for hack directors who can't do actual cinematography and cope with "it's shitty on purpose!"
sophisticated blocking
dutch angle
the camera as an actor
breaking the fifth wall
what's a cold open?
When the series starts an chronology time 0, like Star Wars.
ngl reverse chekhovs gun is absolute kino and keeps the tension
when the first scene takes place outside in the winter snow
found footage is a crutch for hack directors who can't do actual cinematography and cope with "it's shitty on purpose!"
movie or episode starts with a scene instead of opening credits, title or opening sequence
reverse chekhovs gun
what's this?
I don't browse tvtropes, but what's wrong with having names for things? Isn't it easier to say "Diagetic music" than "the music is actually playing for the characters in the movie as well"?
Like that scene where a shellshocked character flashes grenade a couple of times in a dialogue saying we should blow this shitty immigrant restaurant but in the end its nothingburger
Siberia, Monamour or Leviathan, I forget.
prequel
sidequel
spinoff
crossover
reboot
remake
Anon Babble won thobeit
sounds retarded
Its ok to have a wrong opinion anon, I forgive you.

Anon Babble lost.

lazy af. why even tell a story if you're not going to finish it ?
i think broadly the problem is that using literary-critical terms of art to "understand the meaning" of mass culture movieslop fatally misses the point that it's all distracting pornography and self-referential deconstructive cinematic devices amount to the auteur's dabbing on the audience
i think broadly the problem is that using literary-critical terms of art to "understand the meaning" of mass culture movieslop fatally misses the point that it's all distracting pornography and self-referential deconstructive cinematic devices amount to the auteur's dabbing on the audience
People are pretentious when using these terms often especially to describe total slop
but that's kino...
I look like this and say all these
Depends imo.
I like when the pre credit intro is a short movie which world builds, like the 'stand alone' parts of SAC.
I unironically thought the last of us has some interesting approaches here.
Friendly reminder: Anon Babble supported Anon Babble trannies over /kway/ soiteens
The problem is how much the insistence on making terms for every little thing restricts and chokes film discussion. The framework for what can and can't be done or how things should or shouldn't be interpreted is limited by the terms we use, so the more specific and restrictive the language around film gets the smaller of a window there is for creation, perception, and discussion. And that's to say nothing of the reductive faggots who just boil films down into a series of tropes and ignore all the more subjective and emotional aspects of film.
nah it's a naked attempt at subverting le expectations
All of those tropes are kino if done skillfully, you mentally ill contrarian-simply-for-the-sake-of-being-contrarian redditor.
chekhovs gun is shit anyways, it's fine to have interesting asides with little to no bearing on the plot
soispammers want to be ‘supported’ by 4chongers
Why are you such fags?
chekhov's gun isn't about "interesting asides"
the post itself was performative, noob
You can have interesting asides with little to no bearing on the plot AND Chekhov's Gun side by side. They're not mutually exclusive.
eating shit is good if the shit was made skillfully
It's about the fact Anon Babble chose to protect trannies than a bunch of shitposters. This site is dead.
the principal of chekhovs gun is that every element introduced must contribute to the plot, so yes they are mutually exclusive
brings up shit-eating out of nowhere
mental illness
One piece popularized it with the takemate exploding box from fishman island to whole cake island
Anon Babble gods =/= sharty soitroons

kek, no writing rule is meant to be followed 100%
they're more like guidelines.
Chekhov's Gun is specifically about something important, like a gun, for a reason. This should give you a clue on how and when to apply it.
All of those tropes are kino if done skillfully, you mentally ill contrarian-simply-for-the-sake-of-being-contrarian redditor.
You chose to specifically make an analogy about shit-eating.
You are subhuman.
The principle of Chekhov's Gun is that it's bad form to add something very conspicuous and seemingly important and then not have it contribute to the plot.
yeah they can be skillfully done, but that doesn't mean the faggots who mention them in lieu of any meaningful discussion aren't insufferable.
every element introduced must contribute to the plot
False. That's the Law of Conservation of Detail.
so yes they are mutually exclusive
Also false. Tropes are tools and are therefore ALWAYS flexible.
This is the false equivalence fallacy.
This guy is right.
Literally anything
durrr this is just like eating poopoo!
Shit eating anologies are genuinely the absolute rock bottom of discourse. Not even worth reading when someone goes there
lol u mad
I agree. They're pretentious.
I bet you smell like dung.
Why did everyone take to calling them tropes just because of that stupid website? What was wrong with cliches?
cliches is usually used as a negative. trope is more neutral
B movie
