Enterprise

No safety rails

This is worse than Star Trek having no seat belts.

Why do spaceships have bridges? Specifically an enclosed, forward-facing bridge? What the fuck's the point of a bridge if you can't do a 360 and see what the fuck's happening everywhere? Especially in Space, where fucking anything could be traveling anywhere at any point in any dimension.
Nah, let's build a four-hundred gorillion space credit bridge that sees one half of a linear dimension. Perfect!

It's a tradeoff between vision and being sufficiently hardened.

could put the bridge in the middle of the ship, but you'd be completely reliant on computer vision

could have big 360 windows, but glass is weak and 99.9999% of the time there's fuck all in every direction anyway

Forward facing windows aren't perfect but they give you some analog vision and don't excessively weaken the hull.

The Enterprise D has easily the most comfortable looking bridge. The Galaxy Class is the only ship in Star Trek that actually seems designed to reflect what the purpose of the ship is. Also if I were insanely rich I would totally build a home theatre/gaming room that looks like this.

You only need to see in front of you, because that's where the enemy is. If the enemy is behind you then you're doing a pisspoor job of killing at them.

This. Who the fuck needs windows in space? BSG was peak set design

he doesn't enjoy the view

this nigga has never even contemplated why or how a boat functions

glass is weak

Spaceship windows aren't made of glass my man, and if they could hypothetically break then that just brings up another issue; why the fuck do enemies never fire directly at the bridge?

My concern is not the why or how a BOAT functions, it's the how or why I need to aim the canons, which should all be facing forward and firing constantly.

That underwater drilling rig from The Abyss(i don't have a pitcher of it)

That's a tripping hazard

I mean, just look at the Battlestar Galac- I mean, Southern Sun in Space Mutiny.

I think human beings just like to see what's ahead of them and look out windows.

In Halo lore, the Covenant makes fun of the humans for having exposed bridges. All of their bridges are deep within the main body

Can't think of a single fictional spaceship OR boat that has forward-facing cannons, except for that retarded giganigga star cruiser from the Sequel Trilogy, and even then it may have been able to pivot, I can't remember, I only saw the films once.

Without a doubt. I'm not necessarily arguing for no windows, rather more effective windows.
Why not have a bridge that can move from the top-center, through to the core, then to any other outward position of the ship? or have multiple bridges? The latter may actually exist in some capacity, I'm not sure.
Just seems kinda dumb to have ships with presumably thousands of people and not have the futuristic equivalent of a single dude in a crow's nest on the top, front, back, bottom, and sides of the ship.
The idea that Spaceships should have the same general design (or in this case, even worse) and functionality as a 17th century naval cruiser is asinine.

Why do spaceships have bridges?

They only have bridges with windows in the children's shows you watch. Perhaps grow up and watch scifi made for adults and you'll find the designs will be more intelligent.

I know it's not a ship, but Babylon 5's CNC is utter shit. It's small, cramped, not even remotely comfy. No wonder Ivanova is always so pissed off.

seasons 1 and 2 were so comfy

always seemed funny and backwards

who cleans the carpet?

the transporter chief beams all the dirt into space

The remake show was shit and it spit in the face of those that kept it alive, FUCK RD MOORE and BONNIE HAMMER.

isn't his wife a child?

Space ballz

only saw the films once

One more time than I saw it, you gigafaggot

Cuauhtémoc

i see they're a fan of green

the only time we see the CIS fleet operating is in Episode III

Always made me think about being in Office Depot.

You will never see Grievance going on zany adventures with his confederate buddies aboard the Invisible Hand. Infinite realities in the multiverse got that movie made and we had to be born in one that didn't.

The former Jacuzzi factory where they made the show was quite cramped. At least they didn't Video Toaster themselves up a virtual set.

CIS ships are pure sexo

Read up on Rule of Cool

This is a place for high ranking officers, not spastic niggers with no situational awareness or . movement coordination.

I like how they’re bad guy versions of Rebel ship designs much like the Republic has good guy versions of Imperial ship designs.

Who the fuck needs windows in space?

weren't the separatists the good guys?

This show was insanely reddit

They were just set up to be patsies.

I’ve always liked the Macross bridge

No, they were mostly run by megacorporations behind the scenes so the general life of CIS civilian sucked vn compard to a wartime Repiblic on

I like the battle bridge more

Ones without windows

What the fuck's the point of a bridge if you can't do a 360 and see what the fuck's happening everywhere?

In no situation ever has a command staff of a modern surface vessel absolutely needed total 360 degrees of vision, that is mostly irrelevant information and more than the human mind in tactical capacity and informational speed can handle with regards to naval warfare in anything but its most primitive form. In a combat situation most battleships have a locked in conn tower that is extremely limited in vision because the need for 360 degree vision is irrelevant once targets are spotted and battle began with comms staff and officers handling internal affairs of the ship from more secure areas

Watch the original legends of the galactic heroes. That is the realest depiction of the future of space combat.

best part about it is all the little realistic elements like floors oriented like a skyscraper rather than an ocean ship and swiveling seats to compensate for g-forces in different directions

What about the Techno Union ships?

Who the fuck needs windows in space?

It's a flex, though in defense of Trek it's transparent aluminum not glass.

this
peak shit. windows are a weak point

So how do they see outside if they are not made of glass?

It's between these two for all time.

For the same reason a ship of the lines wheel and navigation was below deck. You rely on crew and instruments to be your 'eyes' and you're protected during battle (and bad weather in the case of a sailing boat)
