Nihilistic garbage.
Nihilistic garbage
what would you do if your daughter became a whore?
The whole movie is about how you shouldn't waste your life on bullshit tho.
It's the opposite of that
Hardly
Yeah, you can really feel the uplifting celebration of life in the depressing blues exit song
I'm just a little person
One person in a sea
Of many little people
Who are not aware of me
I do my little job
Live my little life
Eat my little meals
Miss my little kid and wife
And somewhere, maybe someday
Maybe somewhere far away
I'll find a second little person
Who will look at me and say
"I know you
You're the one I've waited for
Let's have some fun"
Life is precious every minute
And more precious with you in it
So let's have some fun
We'll take a road trip way out west
You're the one I like the best
I'm glad I found you
I like hanging around you
You're the one I like the best
Somewhere, maybe someday
Maybe somewhere far away
Somewhere, maybe someday
Maybe somewhere far away
Somewhere, maybe someday
Maybe somewhere far away
I'll find a second little person
And we'll go out and play
Nihilistic
It's not tho????
Explain how its life affirming.
Life Is A Bitch And Then You Die: The Movie
*Synecdoche, New York* isn’t nihilistic—it’s existential. Nihilism says life is meaningless; Kaufman shows us *creating* meaning despite the absurdity. Caden’s endless, failing play mirrors our own struggle to make sense of existence. The sadness isn’t the point—it’s a catalyst for empathy. Hazel living in a burning house, saying *"I’m not ready for it to be over,"* isn’t despair; it’s defiance. The film’s meta-structure (actors playing actors, sets mirroring sets) celebrates art’s impossibility and necessity. Caden’s failure to "finish" his play reflects life’s vastness, not emptiness. Death isn’t an end but part of a cycle—the final shot reveals his life as a diorama, suggesting cohesion in chaos. Even the humor (absurd hypochondria, the sermonizing priest) undercuts despair, proving we can laugh at the abyss. The film’s core isn’t futility—it’s love. Loving a world that hurts us is terrifying but essential. The closing mantra—*"Now you are here. Now you are now."*—isn’t bleak; it’s urgent. Wake up. Be present. This is all we get, and that’s enough. That’s not nihilism—that’s grace.
Because you're not the main character
if a film doesn't do this once specific thing that i have arbitrarily given importance, it is nihilistic garbage
this is what happens when a marvel manchild tries to watch an art film
I'm not reading allat
Ridiculously charitable interpretation
Grok, give me a synopsis of how Synecdoche, New York is NOT nihilistic.
The spiritual midgets that inhabit this board post 2016 retard influx aren't ready to hear this. They are too wedded to their own particular suffering.
Spoken like a true enlightened spiritual chad
The key is forgiveness and gratitude. Love and light friend.
If that's what you took away from Synecdoche NY... might as well say The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is about the importance of friendship and family
Nihilistic garbage.
Completely meaningless statement when you consider that the universe will continue to exist for quadrillions of years after humans go extinct. There is no "meaning" to anything.
That scene hit extra hard since we see her as a little girl at the beginning of the movie. I wonder what it's like for dads to find out their little girl is a prostitute, porn star, has an OnlyFans, etc.
That comment was directed at a specific movie, it was not a holistic philosophical outlook from OP.
No that's the key to being a spiritual chad. Is english not your first language or something? If so I forgive you for having absolutely no reading comprehension.
In my experience, true spiritual chads don't need to needlessly belittle and insult people who think different than them wholesale ("spiritual midgets that inhabit this board post 2016 retard influx"), and I doubt they would champion or condone second-hand this movie as some sort of demonstration of grace and love.
You honestly sound like a woman.
Great answers to a simple open-ended question.
Death isn’t an end but part of a cycle—the final shot reveals his life as a diorama, suggesting cohesion in chaos.
how is that a cycle, gpt
this movie is gay but i'd fuck that tattoo'd bitch
The final shot shows Caden's life as a miniature diorama inside the warehouse—his entire existence reduced to a staged scene. But this isn't just an ending; it implies the cycle continues because:
1. **The Artistic Process Repeats**: Just as Caden spent years directing his own life-as-theater, now another director (his assistant) takes over, whispering instructions to him. Art, like life, keeps being reinterpreted by new creators.
2. **The Warehouse Never Ends**: The film establishes that Caden's replica city exists within a larger, unseen world (possibly another replica). This mise-en-abyme structure suggests infinite recursion—every "ending" is just another layer being observed.
3. **Time is Fluid**: Earlier scenes show clocks speeding up, graves with wrong dates, and characters aging unpredictably. Death here isn't a full stop but a transition—like a scene change in an endless play.
4. **The Audience's Role Continues**: By revealing the diorama, Kaufman breaks the fourth wall. *We* become the new "directors," interpreting Caden's story, just as he interpreted others'. The cycle of meaning-making passes to us.
The cohesion comes from recognizing the pattern: life art death reinterpretation repeat. The chaos is the messiness within each iteration. Caden dies, but the act of storytelling—the human drive to frame existence—lives on.
bullshit
Hey anon I value your post, cheers
Because you’re supposed to change your life after seeing it
Don’t tell me youre going to let that happen to yourself??
I guess if some schoolyard bully stuffs my head in a toilet bowl full of excrements, the lesson I'm supposed to take away is that my mom's homemade meatballs spaghetti smells and taste delicious.
Thank you Mr. Bully for the uplifting life lesson and teaching me gratitude and appreciation.
The end of the movie clearly communicates that wasting your life on stupid bullshit is meaningless in the face of simple human connection. The woman he spends his final kind, gentle moments with represents that.
we dont know if anything consists which is not experienced by us or another consciousness
I guess this erases the rest of the movie where he is absurdly and insanely betrayed or misunderstood by almost every single person he knows
More like neurotic jewish solipsistic garbage
Good post, anon.
How'd they film that one scene which should be illegal?
yeah so nothing matters there is no god and your going to die lol
yeah its going in the trash
But enough about your life
I LOVE my jewish demoralization kinos!
Only one person noticed this is AI lmao. Mental midgets can just say anything now and ask ChatGPT to explain why they're right
my iPhone keeps making auto-collages entitled "early moments together" of me and my mistress years ago. It assumes we are a long-term couple, where in fact we are a long-running affair that no one is aware of. How embarrassing for this giant, faceless company.
you could have just said jewish schizophrenia and called it a day
nobody betrayed him, he was a man of stalling and inaction, and before he knew it, he blinked and decades had gone by
It is surprising that any of us are alive. Why not make light of the fact. It's better than actually being dead.
Then, I intentionally missed a call from a loved one. Now, it is telling me to call them back, like the phone is my father or something. No! Fuck you iPhone! I won't do what you tell me! This, I guess, is my adult rebellious phase. Against an iPhone.
also, I don't understand why we can't call it an iFone. We're not in England or anything.
a nihilist is just someone who hasn't committed suicide yet because he hasn't got the balls
Nuh uh
We keep ourselves alive by animal instincts and drives, not reasons. As such, we are no different from animals. The idea that we are separate from animals because of A or B is ridiculous on its face. Assimilating that, the idea that life is somehow distinct from its surrounding universe is similarly ridiculous.
The Caden character is a sad sack of shit for most of the movie but he hardly does anything wrong for most of the movie. He works steadfastly on his artistic magnum opus, futile and grandiose as it may be, hardly different than any typical 9-to-5 jobs leading nowhere. His marriage is already breaking apart when the movie starts, hard to tell who is at fault, but his wife is hardly supportive or helpful, even in the context of a bad marriage or end of a relationship. She just abandons him without so much as a proper discussion and cuts off all contact. He's shown caring for his young daughter, she later accuses him of neglecting her in favour of a non-existent male lover after falling for the woman who groomed her sexually. His therapist turns on him the instant he refuse her unrequited advance. His doctor gets into antagonistic petty semantic arguments with him when he falls ill. His various girlfriends play hot and cold with him, chase him when he's with a partner, turn the other way when he opens up to them, they only get back with him only for a job after falling on hard times. Time is depicted in a completely unrealistic manner, even if it's to make a ''point' artistically'. He dies the second he figures out how to wrap his project.
Really hard to take any life lessons from this movie under consideration seriously. At the very best, it's a well-made shaggy dog story told with pitch black morbid humor, but hardly something you'd show a depressed person to cheer them up, unless you wanted to push them further to the edge of the abyss.
sometimes to defeat the blackpill you have to first swallow it
Caden did nothing wrong!!!
Holy shit
Him fumbling the red head the first time is enough reason alone to hate him
He's still with his wife by then. By the time he's resolute about getting with her, she has opted for the estate agent's son living in the basement of the house she bought.
Enlighten me, what does he do wrong then?
He's still with his wife by then
He hadn't seen/talk to her for a year by then. Its also implied she hadn't let their daughter speak to him at all either. Caden fucked up bigly by not fucking her then, which is why the very next scene is him calling her. Caden was hilariously pathetic, which is why even when he get remarried and has a new daughter, hes still constantly thinking about his first daughter who became a whore.
I fucking hate the way ChatGPT talks also how don't you fucking retards notice it's ChatGPT
