what is stopping a non jedi person from building a lightsaber or buying one on the black market? something needs to be done to stop them ending up in the wrong hands.
What is stopping a non jedi person from building a lightsaber or buying one on the black market...
You have to get the magic crystals from the magic cave only the Jedi know about
What's stopping them is that they are not really all that useful if you're not a Jedi. A blaster is a much more versatile and reliable weapon for the normies
The crystals are fucking expensive and before the Empire the jedi had a functional monopoly on them. After the Empire the Empire funneled them to the Death Star.
This is a lie. kyber crystals are easy to come by there are planets that literally have huge mines
Jedha got blown up
So is the Death Star basically a giant fuckoff lightsaber?
This
This is the answer. Everything about monopolies on the crystals you hear in this thread makes no sense when you consider these crystals grow on many planets.
Without the Force a lightsaber isnt very useful. you need those superior reflexes in order to deflect blaster shots and see an actual Jedi or Sith's attacks coming
Those sleeves seem like a hazard. Never really thought about that before.
I always gave Luke's lightsaber to Han when I played legos. Fuck Luke.
I'll always insist Jedi should wear armor, those monk robes shpuld be limited to the temple.
Genndy CW got it right.
With such long sleeves how do they not burn them constantly with the lighstabers?
The Ben Kenobi look is best. The way ANH portrays the Jedi with Ben is my favorite concept of the Jedi. Peaceful, chill monk dude who mostly takes a pacifist approach and just sneaks around and tricks people. He is very clearly not a warrior, he just wears comfy robes.
Bro it's literally a movie, don't think too much
They are on the black market. Rich assholes collect them. Jabba had slave girls use them as danger dildos.
You could instantly kill anyone in your vicinity, not everyone is fighting some religious sectarian war or trying to be a space samauri. You could burn out locks, rob and murder people.
And you could do all of that with much cheaper and less cumbersome equipment. You'd only use a lightsaber to cut through doors for style points.
You can do that with a blaster too.
less cumbersome
What?
Yup. Using a light saber to deflect blaster shots takes the reflexes of a jedi or a droid.
Yes.
Nothing. But hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side.
Finn couldnt even kill a grunt stormtrooper with a lightning mace with it, plus the other shit you mentioned requires a tad bit of stealth and subtlety to it which would be hard to do with a giant beam of light as a tool
I still dig the robe and basic clothing route for the Jedi, since just having themgeared out like any other soldier or bounty hunter takes away from their mystique. Plus it help make the outliers, like Quinlan Vos, seem more interesting in comparison.
To each their own though
Jabba had slave girls use them as danger dildos.
Watch a slave Twi-lek on stage on all fours with a lightsaber hilt stuffed in her twat that she activates with her kegels giving her a lightsaber tail
New fetish unlocked.
What's to stop someone creating a lightsaber than can extend like 50 feet or more?
It's an outdated weapon almost useless without Jedi magic reflexes. Who the fucks would go around the wild west carrying a longsword instead of a rifle and a revolver?
they should build a steam power plant with a lightsaber. infinite energy
They'd slice their own dick off in about ten seconds swinging that thing around.
There was dual-phase lightsabers, that pretty much let you extend a lightsaber blade to around six-feet or more, but weren't that popular.
But is it was unwieldy and viewed as outdated. Think even Darth Vader had one for a bit in the old EU.
*It was a bit
You do know those were just ordinary robes he was wearing right? It wasn’t a Jedi thing until the prequels? Otherwise it would be retarded for Obi Wan to be undercover dressed in Jedi garb lmao
It wasn’t a Jedi thing until the prequels?
So it wasn't a thing until it was established in official canon?
Ok, and the point?
Couldn't he have mind tricked the guy at the cantina to calm down instead of hacking his arm off? I thought Obi-Wan was a bit of a dick in that scene when I watched it as a kid.
Ben tried talking him down, but the dude just got angrier and escalated.
Why aren't there more force users that use blasters?
They'd have to reflexes to never miss
They'd be able to kill their targets at a distance
It wasn’t a Jedi thing until the prequels
Wrong again, RLMfag.
Put a lightsaber in a jedis toilet that triggers when he sits on it
Because they're an order of fanatical religious monks
It's just a laser sword and even with training, you're going to cut your fucking hands off at best if you don't have the Force.
I feel like the point is to give them a weapon so stupid and dangerous only someone with Magical Luck can effectively use it.
Lightsaber without the Force<<<Blaster<Blaster with the Force<<<Lightsaber with the force
Kyber is rare enough even in nu-canon that what's his face in Andor says "don't take less than 50,000 credits for it".
I like designs where the Sith or Jedi wore armor specifically evocative of fighting against lightsabers/swords. The uniqueness of the design is that they echoed plate armor of the past.
That's also why Boba Fett's armor is what it is, they were originally thought of in George's head as one of the traditional enemies of the Jedi, ergo they have armor that harkens back to fighting against people with swords.

Boba Fett was just a bounty hunter, you're buying into retcon bullshit about Mandalorians that came way later.
That's why I didn't ask why Jedi didn't use them. I asked why force users didn't use them.
Couldn't a force user predict where a Jedi was going to deflect his blast and just use a second blaster to shoot a different part of their body?
Nah mate you're wrong. Originally there was to be a handful of them in Empire but real world costs meant they couldn't afford to outfit costumes for a bunch of people and so it got distilled down into Boba Fett.
But the people of Mandalore (even before the demonym existed) and its people being purpose built anti-Jedi commandos is the original concept of the design.
Couldn't a force user predict where a Jedi was going to deflect his blast and just use a second blaster to shoot a different part of their body?
Yes, same goes for a lightsaber duel. A blaster shot can be deflected without a lightsaber though. Vader just eats them with his hand on cloud city. The better force user wins fights. It's why palpatine just wrecks 3 jedi.
Isn't it implied the blaster deflections done by Vader were just as much to do with his cybernetic enhancements? I don't think a Jedi is deflecting blasteds with their bare hands unscathed.
No, robots take blaster damage too, but it could be a dark side power.
'jedi' robes are just regular robes
the jedi are supposed to be modest and humble
someone finds a mine
word gets to Republic/Empire
"uuh we've come to liberate your planet and spread freedom and democracy!"
I watched the Obi Wan show and I really didn't like the Black Inquisitor. Somehow she had trouble running after 10-year old Like. Anyway Why did Vader mean when he said he killed Anakin?
Explain Grievous.
I don't acknowledge the prequels. They are trash.
This, but also lightsabers are really hard to build if you don't have the force according to some of the 45 lightsaber retcons
The native from a desert planet wore desert clothes?
Wow that sure proves all jedi wore them
He's a cyborg with replaceable parts
