some of my favorite scenes are when the cops aren't in the know about something and all hell almost breaks loose. When they start arresting people on the way to Hamsterdam or when Herc is in the face of Marlo and all of his guys are about to unload on him, for example

I agree 100 percent both about the show and about working as a union guy. Season 2 is so good, everything going on in it clicks for me. It's one of my favorite seasons of TV ever, and I always just feel like the show never reaches the height of excitement I had for it in seasons 1 and 2 again. The stakes were also upped so much by the Greek and his guys that going back to the street thugs and basically forgetting them feels like a regression. And once Avon/Stringer are gone after season 3....it sorta feels lost and just meandering to a lackluster end imo. On the union worker thing, you are right, too. This season feels like what I wish it was like, versus the actual reality you described perfectly. But also it illustrates the struggles of the American labor/union worker against the modern times very well, too, and feels very relatable.
