Plex is great but once you go big league and get a ust/long throw projector you need to pair it with a ugoos am6b+ and plex4kodi backend to get the Dolby vision/hdr10 extra layer that no other media server/hardware players ie a shield/Roku/ appletv can handle

Taking just the best 5+ films of the top 20 directors in the highest quality is many terrabytes and 100+ movies. If youre trying to creative an archive of every “classic” movie + movies you simply like + recent movies you are torrenting to watch + random stuff you want to see + bluray rips if you have a physical library + tv shows its easy to wind up with 1000+ movies and 100s of tb

I use plex for TV shows that I consistently rewatch like 30 Rock and Seinfeld, and podcast episodes. Their smart playlist feature is great but they completely raped the mobile app. Had to find a downgraded apk.

For movies, I use Fen Light addon with Kodi and real debrid. 99% of any movie or show is cached with remuxs/HD rips. Just search and play. I figured the cost, $35/year, and convivence of debrid outweighs buying HDDs to store everything on (what if my HDDs corrupt, I fuck them up while moving, etc.)

I also want to know this. I currently have a computer running Plex but it only has space for one 3.5 inch HDD. Id like something with space for like 8 drives. I've been looking at the jonsbo cases they look cool for having space for a bunch of drives but also compact in size which is what I want

The reason I and most people end up using something like Plex/Jellyfin is to share it with friends and family. Before Plex I just hooked my computer to my TV via HDMI and played it that way. Plex makes it easy so that I can share my pirated kino with my friends extremely easily. That's what it's used for. Once I invite a friend I don't have to do anything and else and everything I've downloaded and will download in the future they can now watch instantly for free as long as they have Internet.
