Minority Report

spielberg never misses

No it's not, it's mediocre at the absolute best. Memes like this are better than that entire movie.

Based OP Minority Report is high tier sci fi kino. Probably just outside of my personal top 10 but the premise is very unique. Oblivion and Edge of Tomorrow are cool too but this was Tom Cruise best sci fi flick

I liked them rotating guns that fired big bubbles that knocked everything everywhere. Wicked bro

Part of this movie feels like it wasn't directed by Spielberg. As if some smelly frenchman took over for a while in the middle.

thank you for your twittard zoom zoom opinion

worst movie ever made
based on retarded concepts by k dick
IN THE FUTURE THESE PEOPEL FLOATING IN A WATER TANK CAN READ THE FUTER
BUT ONLY IF A LITTLE WODDEN BALLS COMES OUT OF THIS RUBE GOLDBERG MACHINE

Not especially but it has some of the best production design (it's one of *the* Y2K aesthetic movies), and it IS one of the best Hitchcock thrillers Hitchcock never made (which is what it actually is, Spielberg's homage to classic Hitchcock hence the film noir shadows, dark humour, quirky score, certain tropes and pacing, etc.) youtube.com/watch?v=YcrYylZlCS0

There's so much love in this thread

spielberg never misses

West Side Story
Indiana Jones 4
Jurassic Park the Lost World
1941

There was no final fight

yep, genuinely a good movie and noone talks about it, it should be a celebrated classic, but nope nothing

What did you expect Tom Cruise vs Max Von Sydow?

All perfectly decent kinos

I turned if off at the jetpack scene, shit was laughable.

tfw the guy flying around in a jetpack hovers over some burgers on a grill, cooking them

i can't deal with spielberg and these corny ass jokes right in the middle of his movies that are otherwise played straight

Filtered

Shit movie and here's why;

They fucked it up when the original story by Phillip K. Dick had Anderton kill the person he was told he would, Witwer, who was trying to shut down Pre-crime as it went against civil liberties by imprisoning people for crimes they haven't yet committed.

Of the three Pre-Cogs there are a pair of twin males and a female.

Here's how it works;

1: Male Pre-Cog predicts a murder.
2: This then goes to the Female
3: Then next to the other twin.

What is the minority report?

Sometimes a minority report is generated if the person predicted to commit the murder was informed and he/she would be able to make a choice to kill or not to kill in which case if he/she did know what they were going to do they might decide not to go though with it to due to this information.

But because the person wasn't informed nor given that choice they will kill someone as predicted.

Murder => Murder - (Minority Report suppressed) => Murder
Murder => Minority Report Revealed => Person Decides not to Kill
Pre-cog 3 confirms that a murder will take place because the Minority Report was generated but kept from the murderer, so that person will kill someone.

A minority report is not generated if the person committing the murder would do it even if they were informed or not. Telling him this info might also result in a time loop turning in on itself causing him/her to kill as they now know why when he wouldn't have before and left ignorant of the whole situation.

Anderton has no Minority Report as he was always predicted to kill Witwer either way in order to prove pre-crime works, and he does as Witwer believes he's not in danger of Anderton who then kills him thus being able to prove that Pre-crime works with Witwers murder as evidence of the system working.

.......

It's great but I always forget that it's a spielberg movie right up until that godawful slapstick jetpacks through the ceilings and walls of tenement housing units sequence. He really just can't help himself can he?

You've never watched 1941. Literally no one has ever made it all the way through that movie and even spielberg thinks its shit.

new destination: office

time for work wagie

Are you one of those people who likes to ruin movies?

Its been a while but from what I remember the two twins show him murdering the guy, but the second one sees him not murdering him because he saw the first report.
Then at the end its revealed the two twins saw him murdering the same guy, but at different times.

Yes

But Spielberg/Cruise had to have Pre-Crime shut down because the idea of imprisoning people, even if they didn't have a Minority Report and predicted to kill offended their liberal mindset as they see people, even if they had no minority report, incarcerated for something they didn't yet do, the punishment before the crime etc..

So in their minds innocent people are being kept prisoner and ignore the entire point of the story, that they would have killed someone with or without a Minority Report and why they're incarcerated.

We also don't get any info on murder rates once Pre-Crime is gone which would no doubt happen.

Then there's the issue that they were planning to expand pre-crime across the country while never explaining how they intended on doing that?

We also don't know the extent of the Pre-cogs abilities and how far away do they extend?

The only way this system would work is if they cloned the Pre-cogs and had them in every city but the movie never goes beyond that.

This is why Spielberg is shit at world building with MR and Ready Player One both having the same story structure and shit endings.

MR finishes with Anderton and his Wife back together while the Pre-Cogs are stuck in a cabin the middle of nowhere, presumably far enough that they can't sense anyone.

In reality this would not be the case as Witwer's murder proved Pre-Crime works and the program possibly being expanded as mentioned earlier.

Then in Ready Player One it's the same thing as you have someone trying to find the truth about a system in place and wanting to stop it while turning the Oasis off on Tuesdays and Thursdays is fucking retarded nor what sort of effect and impact that this had in real life on people.

But at least Wade Watts got 250 billion and creampies some QT while more or less breaking a system of control, just like in Minority Report, regardless of the ramifications it would have in the future and never know anything beyond what we see on the screen as Spielberg never considers what's happening afterwards and outside of the frame of the camera, so he doesn't need to fill in details and can focus on his action set pieces!!!FACT!!!

MR and Ready Player One both having the same story structure and shit endings

huh

Protagonist is a part of a system of control.
Finds out that said system is not what it appears to be.
Goes on the run to learn about the system..
Finds out the truth.
Brings down the system.

Doesn't elaborate or acknowledge how their actions affect people on a larger scale once the protagonist has defeated the system/enemy and washes their hands of the issue.
Never find out.

You could also apply this to the Matrix Trilogy!!!FACT!!!

Witwer wanted his job. Thats it. Its explained very clearly you wikifag

I get this movie mixed up with the Island and Paycheck, they all have similar stories and visuals

This movie is so good and then they start flying and it’s just the dumbest shit ever

what else would jetpacks do, dumbass?
