Am I wrong for hating Chuck?

Am I wrong for hating Chuck?

hating on delusioned schizos is normal human reaction

While Chuck was almost always in the right, he always went for being the worst possible person about it
So no, it's perfectly sensible to hate him. In universe pretty much everyone dislikes him too

Chuck was right about Jimmy but for mostly the wrong reasons. He was a fascinating character and it’s no coincidence BCS went to shit immediately after he died

Yes, Chuck did nothing wrong

It ain’t Christian to hate and if you ain’t Christian then your wrong

Chuck was mostly right about Jimmy, but in the end jimmy did face the music with his head held high, like he told waltuh to do. But chuck being right about jimmy's overal behavior and character doesn't give him leave to treat jimmy the way he did his whole life. He sort of created a self fufilling prophecy because jimmy would get deeper and deeper into CHICANERY because chuck never gave him a real chance to do any better. If he had been taken on in HHM and given direction with some amount of creative liberty to be himself, he could have been a solid lawyer because of his charisma alone. Even if he would continue to scam people for love of scaming, it would be on the same level as what he and kim did to that guy at the resort, just waste his time and get him to pay for the drinks. He probably wouldn't have fallen in with the cartels or gotten progressively more saulesque. But the real core of it is that chuck was envious of jimmy's charisma and likeability. He wanted to keep him down because he felt better about himself that way. Jimmy lived rent free in his head. He never wanted to be seen as equal because in his eyes that would be lowering himself instead of uplifting jimmy. He was kinda a bitch desu

Chuck never forced Jimmy to be the consigliere for an international meth kingpin. At some point a grown-ass man is responsible for his own choices.

Chuck was right, but was a cuckfag about it. Absolute nut case with a monstrous ego, he didn't just have to keep Jimmy down, he had to bury him in the dirt and that's why he had his downfall.

The sign is a subtle joke

And I didn't say he isn't responsible dipshit
Of course jimmy is at fault for all of the bad things he did. But that doesn't absolve chuck from being a cunt to his brother because he was an envious piece of shit. Chuck is not a good person at heart while jimmy generally is despite his flaws. Look at the way chuck treats others, not just jimmy, and ask yourself why people dont fucking like him

is condescending and smug to his own client, mesa verde, over a mistake he "made". Even if he knows he didn't make that mistake with the numbers, you don't turn to your client and say "uhm aktually ur wrong, lol"

after he gets booted from hhm over all threatening to sue the insurance company, he turns around and sues hhm, putting the entire firm at risk

tells his brother, who is clearly in an emotionally vulnerable state, that he never cared about him

Chuck sucks bro

I didn’t say he isn’t responsible

Chuck created a self fulfilling prophecy

Dumbass

Chuck was an envious piece of shit but he was also right about Jimmy, Jimmy would abuse the law even if Chuck wasn't such a dick to him so I wouldn't call it a self fulfilling prophecy

Hating Chuck is as natural as hating Skyler. They are people anyone would have a disdain for in everyday circumstances. But people in this fandom feel pressured to have the "correct" stance on a television show and repress their true sentiments.

Yeah, and? What's the point youre trying to make here?
My point is that he's right about jimmy being how he is but also had a hand in making him that way. People don't exist in a vacuum. Chuck never gave jimmy a chance to be better because he didn't want him to be better. When chuck and kim were gone there was no one left for jimmy to even want to be better for, so he got worse and worse

My point is that Chuck didn't " had a hand in making him that way". Jimmy is Jimmy, he would be the same no matter what, this is what he wants, this is his personality.

An addict will never know he would be one if he was guided to not touch the stuff in the first place

You make it sound like being a lawyer for drug kingpins and the cartels is bad? He was loved in prison because he helped the lads out.

People keep blaming Chuck for Jimmy's behaviour but keep forgetting season 2 exists in which Jimmy already distanced himself from Chuck and pretty much got everything he wanted but still kept being a shithead and ruined it all for himself.

You're all willfully blind

If the person jimmy interacted with when he was a kid convince him to start stealing from the register, then jimmy could have been influenced to be better

Liking characters that go by the book

People like you ruin great shows by forcing this shit on us. I want characters be realistic and from the fucking most WASP suburb possible. It was nauseating when scenes involving the law firms were up because they all followed the book and it felt so fake. Saul was the only lawyer I believed because he felt authentic.

your reply is baffling and has nothing to do with anything I said

See this is the problem. You ain't high or drunk on a Sunday morning. If you were you would completely understand where I was coming from.

it's 5:30 AM i'm not sparking up for at least another 2 hrs or i'll be asleep by suppertime

Stop being a Chuck and be a Jimmy!!!!

Naw, he's an ass.

Could be, but by the time Jimmy got a job in the mail department, he was already beyond help and set on the path to destruction, no matter what would happen. Even if Chuck was nothing but supportive to him, even if he won the lottery and would be set for life, he would not stop his cons
Chuck was intelligent enough to see it, but his seething jealousy over Jimmy's charm caused him to try to save the world from Jimmy in the wrong way

Chuck had an overly romantic view of the law, Jimmy would have been a good lawyer too, one of the different kinds who do the sausage making.

Chuck was one of those schizos who lived a nice life, but pretended in some bullshit reason to ruin it himself with that fake electric allergy. Jimmy lived what reality was really and saw in order to succeed you have to be corrupt. Chuck was just one of those crazy white people who believe in Karen tier shit and bluepilled. Jimmy was redpilled.

The tragic irony of the brothers relationship is that Chuck actually had a tremendously positive influence on Jimmys life but could not recognize or admit the change in Jimmys character that he himself was instrumental in making. From the moment Chuck re-enters Jimmys life (bailing him out of jail and giving him the mailroom job) Jimmy turns his life around in a drastic and positive way, dropping his schemes and conning to focus on work and eventually law school and becomes a much more contentious person. As soon as their relationship sours you can see Jimmys old habits begin to resurface, and once Chuck dies he completely spirals out of control.

So while I don't think Chuck made Jimmy into Saul,I also think the idea that Jimmy becoming Saul was inevitable is wrong too. Had Chuck continued to support Jimmy in his law career and guided him Jimmy likely would have continued his on his positive trajectory and become a very different person.

Meant to say "conscientious" instead of contentious

I used to laugh at Chuck at his EMF freakout but now I get it

But there is a huge difference between conning people and bending the law to aid your clients(hhm clients) and being a CRIMINAL lawyer. If jimmy had had a job at hhm he could have continued to be his eccentric self to a certain extent but would have had a stable career actually doing work that is overall positive. Because he never had that opportunity, he sought a market in the criminal side of things and found a niche there. He wouldnt have become saul goodman if he had been allowed to be jimmy mcgill at hhm

This nigga afraid of electicity lmao

I am cautious about EMF yes, but I'm no nigger

He got another and in many ways better chance with the other law firm ran by Ed Begley Jr. They gave him a corner office on day one and pretty much promised him full partnership in a few years if he kept up the good work. He proved Chuck right yet again by totally fucking that up.

kek

Sneed Goodman

which sign

But the real core of it is that chuck was envious of jimmy's charisma and likeability.

Best example I can think of is him seething that he couldn't make his wife laugh the way Jimmy had, oblivious to the fact she loves him and will choose him over Jimmy any day because of all the other things they have in common and can talk back and forth about that Jimmy can't do

Chuck sucks bro

and fucks?

he doesn't know

Chuck = Western order of law, so yeah its wrong.
