This movie was good because of great performances ( ), sound and visuals but its main problem is that Garland is too afraid to grapple with political complexity so he just leaves the reasons and history behind the war for the audience to interpret. He's more interested in the aesthetics of a modern American civl war than the war itself.
There's one good scene in the movie (the one with Jesse Plemons) and that's it
