/who/- Doctor Who General

Racnoss edition

Racnoss.jpg - 474x355, 27.63K

"Here in Africa, people accept me"

lines delivered by an actor who had to leave Africa as a child to avoid being ethnically cleansed by other Africans

hol-up.gif - 640x474, 461.34K

why are there actual god gods in doctor who now
the pantheon are just extra-universal beings but apparently actual earth gods exist??? why?

You know remember (or not, because no one watched it) the time when Chinballs had a similar monster to the Racnoss and the Doctor never even commented on it.

Doctor Who's for losers.

which has been worse?

Chibnall era where everything is so bland and uninspired and the actors look around waiting for their cue, and the Doctor occasionally turns to the camera to tell the audience why [thing] is bad

or

R2D era with Fruity Ncuti, everything is homosexual and gay and fuh-laming, and the Doctor occasionally turns to the camera to tell the audience why [thing] is bad

When RTD had the Oode he at least name dropped the Sensorites.
although in such along series your are going to get the same archetypes, we've had 3 slug people now.

The most recent episode was dogshit

Oh christ.

Someone please spoil the entire episode plot for me. The Disney+ ads make watching this shit impossible

Chibnall. I'm definitely going to be revisiting at least some of R2D's episodes in the future. With Chibnall I'm only going to be revisiting it in the far future where I've convinced myself it can't be that bad.

Doctor goes to visit a barber shop in Lagos
people are trapped inside it by a mysterious other barber who turned up there
he's making them tell stories to power a giant robot spider with the end goal of killing the gods.
He's stopped because the doctor has too many stories and overloads the machine or something

I watched it and couldn't tell you what the plot was.
The bad guy was a normal human who got annoyed at the gods for...reasons...and became an immortal genius tech-magician...somehow?!

the doctor has too many stories and overloads the machine or something

what an uncreative solution.

RTD2 was worse. At least Chibnall wasnt afraid of having characters go back in time and the Frankenstein episode was at least decent. The Doctor does a morally fucked up thing and upsets her 'senpai'.

There was only 1 episode I liked from RTD2 and it's ruined now because of the Ruby twist.

yeah it's weird because it was obviously a similar design to the Racnoss and they even did the same

BWAHAHA I AM AN EVIL SPIDER MONSTER *sucks in teeth*

thing, but they missed making an obvious continuity reference

So RTD rips off a kino Moffat story and forgets why people liked the story or why the twist was originally clever in the first place. Ty for saving me an hour of my life

After becoming black, the Doctor likes to visit a barber shop in Nigeria occasionally because after all of the new racism he likes to be treated well there.
He has the idea to use there to connect to the present.
The barber shop is taken over by some guy who makes people tell stories to power his machine to move towards the nexus of all stories.
After this, the story gets confusing. I think he worked for gods but he got sick of it so he wants to kill gods who need stories to survive?
The Doctor stops him.

It's been done before

He's stopped because the doctor has too many stories and overloads the machine or something

So instead of the rubbish part where he tells a 'moving' story about Belinda's mundane life (mundane, yet literally life-saving) he should have just started reeling off the spacetime ending epics he's been in and ended the threat straight away.

...oh I didn't know it what that close (I haven't seen it).
maybe they could've just made her a Racnoss or say it's a related species.

nah because he had to be plugged into the macguffin at the heart of the engine for plot reasons

It's not really a rip off of Rings of Akhaten. It also wasn't written by RTD.

Honestly this. At least with the silurians, they just said there were different species depending on where they hid on Earth.

plot

Overly generous.

sorry "plot"

11 in your pic related

Jack with the Abaddon

13 with a computer (I think it was the Matrix)

8 did it with a monster that feeds on fear in Phobos (ear story)

IIRC he also did it with a monster in the SJAs.

She's basically a Racnoss cousin. Even controlled scorpions instead of spiders.

Also one of the kids from the space babies episodes appears.
There's a cameo from Jo Martin and several clips of older doctors in a memory montage.
All this episode did is remind me that I miss Capaldi

Least the new episode wasn't as indulgent as Akhaten.

A lot of the Chibber era felt like he was going "GOD I wish I was RTD"
Just like the nuRTD era feels like he's going "GOD I wish I was Moffat"

because after all of the new racism he likes to be treated well there.

What racism? He'd get racism from aliens who think he's human.

youtu.be/mXWLsCfP_EE?si=cmgJQ-jUSXwlT6FT

Seriously, wtf is the plot of the next episode? All the teasers are just the Doctor and Belinda happy about a shitty alien Eurovision. Is it suppose to be misleading like a Black Mirror episode? Is this like Rogue where it's about the Doctor getting too comfortable with his companion and almost getting her killed? Is it a three part finale with Mrs Flood? Just fucking give us something to work with ReTarD

8 did it with a monster that feeds on fear in Phobos (ear story)

Those audios did the Trenzalore thing too but it was Jellyfish people instead of humans.

There's a bad guy with a mullet or something

there have been actual gods in DW since the 70s. and the literal devil was in it 20 years ago

the Doctor likes to visit a barber shop in Nigeria occasionally because after all of the new racism he likes to be treated well there.

Remember when the Doctor didnt give a shit how others viewed him? Remember when the show acknowledged he was a fucking alien and knew to limit how empathetic and kind he was? Remember the entire purpose of 12th was him reminding himself that some of the human qualities to him like being kind were what kept him from turning into a monster or as equally corrupt to the other Timelords?

Why did they overcorrect so much with 13th and onwards?

The only synopsis the BBC are sharing for it is

The Doctor's quest to get Belinda back home to Earth leads to a space station hosting the famous song contest. But a harmless night of fun soon becomes a battle to survive.

picrel is the baddie, and he's going to do something to try and fuck the event up and get everyone killed, apparently

He was always white before. His white privileges were revoked.

Weren't the Gods of Ragnarok just technologically advance aliens meant to represent the BBC overheads abusing the writing staff?

Ewan McGregor or James McAvoy would've been great for a movie years back.

Yes, there was always a sci-fi explanation for everything. The most Doc Who would go is Science Fantasy.

It's gonna be a "Russia is bad" episode, isnt it?

A white man? Daring and brave

Did you just assume xis gender?
very problematic

Well, it's a script from Juno Dawson, so it's probably going to be incredibly fucking gay

Which Doctor has the biggest penis?

Based off Eurovision

incredibly fucking gay

I hope so

13, she keeps it in a box

Supposedly this is set in the future and Rylan is there because he was cryofrozen ala Futurama, never mind that the Well hammered it in that future Earth doesn't exist in this series.

5th Doctor. No explanation necessary.

The Last Great Time War didn't end

Highly unusually, the companion stays behind in the Tardis, for no reason.

If she had gone with the Doctor, it would have made no difference to anything whatsoever.

What was going on here?

It's a subsection of The War

Seriously, wtf is the plot of the next episode?

I don't know what the plot of THIS episode was.

She's actually the Rani

The audios have also done a Space Eurovision contest as well.

Just getting her out of the way rather than having her lurking about in the background silently while the Doctor jives with the homies

You're further proving the point. The Doctor did not treat Impossible Planet 'Satan' as if he was obviously just THE DEVIL because he comes across that keeps nd of thing regularly.
Tardis wiki:

The Tenth Doctor faces off against an enemy that defies all his beliefs

DEFIES ALL HIS BELIEFS

going to do something to try and fuck the event up and get everyone killed, apparently

So he REALLY wanted Israel banned.

Now that I'm high, I realize I don't like Doctor Who.

there have been actual gods in DW since the 70s.

The Osirians were explicitly just aliens, not actual gods. Same for the Daemons, and the Fendahl, and Kronos, and all the other creatures modelled on Earth mythology. Early- to mid-'70s Doctor Who just really liked to lean on that von Daniken, "what if the gods were actually ancient aliens and the mythology was just primitive cultures not understanding?" thing that was popular at the time

Why would the Doctor care about people being racist to him? He's been a white guy for like 2000 years, he wouldn't even "feel black"

It's written by Juno Dawson so I assume the Doctor will turn to the camera and teach children how to use sex apps

This. 7th references this in Battlefield just befire the scene where the woman has her blindness cured. The entire story had fantasy themes explained with science

7th references this in Battlefield just befire the scene where the woman has her blindness cured.

The Doctor's also Merlin.

Yeah, and the Guardians were a load of shit.
It's incredibly telling that the only man who did anything further with them was Gary fucking Russell

To call something a "god" is dogmatic. All of Earth's "gods" were ET's, even the ones that look like us (we look like them).

ZVZ (4).png - 256x320, 50.54K

Gatwa; It was really nice having another Doctor on set. We didn't get to speak as much as we'd like because time was tight, but we checked in on each other and had that Doctor conversation that only Doctors can have

RTD; We got a story that's set in Lagos that's king of honouring the ethnicity of our Doctor. So actually, it felt like Jo Martin was missing. It's just time to acknowledge her and time to say she still exists. It's also time to say that mythology still exists.

When will /who/ accept that Russel considers Chibbers additions to the canon more interesting and worth building off of than anything Moffat has added?

file.png - 620x414, 510.22K

Of course he does. He loves making the Doctor into a super special one-of-a-kind space jesus

Reminder that RTD was hired specifically to save the show from the damage Chibnall did but has done nothing but double down on it.

He's just bitter that all the best episodes are moffat

Just because RTD likes them doesnt mean the entire community does or has to. There's stuff from JNT's run that I wish got explored further that people would call me a retard for. People can be mad at ReTarD for exploring Chibnall's shit.

"I brought Doctor Who back, I'll kill it myself"

Dalek's also a rewrite of this.

dalek.jpg - 600x605, 194.86K

That is increasingly looking like the direction of travel with this Mrs Flood stuff

There's stuff from JNT's run that I wish got explored further that people would call me a retard for

Such as?

RTD has openly said he doesn't watch any of NuWho outside of his own era, and considering the depiction of Fugitive here it's clear he never watched any of Chibnall's episodes either

We got a story that's set in Lagos that's king of honouring the ethnicity of our Doctor

meaning he's black so he belongs in afica

Based ReTarD

honouring the ethnicity of our Doctor

Why couldn't we honour the ethnicity of the other Doctors?

To this day I still feel like Chibnall went to RTD to get some ideas on how to boost ratings and RTD intentionally sabotaged Chibnall by telling him to kill the Time Lords off again and copy the EU like he did in his original run.

The Timeless Child feels like something a nerdy child Chibnall came up with to explain the Morbius Doctors. It's the kind of boring retcon that only a fan would care about. However making the first Doctor a black girl is 100% a BBC move

Peri and her massive fuckin tiddys

Keep in mind i havent listened to much of the audios yet

Remastering/remaking a prequel to Battlefield with an 8th+ regeneration Doctor.

Explaining what happened to the 6th after his regeneration/explorong the Valeyard more

Making The Dark Samurai story into reality

Also this one is unrelated to JNT

Making that Amerocan Civil War episode proposed for Season 2

I can see the timeless child being a mix of both. Original fan theory to explain the morbius doctors and then stapled into his own Frankenstein take of The Other and some other wilderness EU stuff. It just worked as an excuse to also canonize his brain of Morbius fan theory. Then Jo was chosen cause the BBC said if you're doing this, give us the first black Doctor as a surprise shock

Only 400 posts since the episode came out? Seriously? Did I miss a thread?

I got a bit bored after the god reveal, which I think is about halfway through. In fact, it's the most bored I can remember being since the Chibnall era. Much of the episode, but particularly this bit, felt like an exposition dump. Fittingly, I was extra bored when the Fugitive Doctor showed up. I nearly stopped watching when they said that killing the gods kills man. For that reason, I must rank it right at the bottom.

I suppose my ranking for the current set of episodes is The Well > The Robot Revolution > Lux > Lucky Day > The Story and the Engine. The first of those is the only one I'd consider rewatching. The rest are bad.

Only 400 posts since the episode came out? Seriously? Did I miss a thread?

I don't know if you've noticed anon but the viewership and overall fan hype of the show in 2025 is positively tiny compared to how people used to interact with the show. Hell, even during Chibnall a lot more people used to tune in every week just to dunk on it. Nowadays very few people just care anymore.

Be RTD

Convince Moffat to have Joy turn into the North Star

Hint that Lux turned into the Holy Spirit for Christianity

Have moral that without gods, humanity is dead

Does RTD hate being gay or the community he's suppose to identify with?

Christianity was the faith of at least 43% of Wales back in 2021.
Wouldn't be too surprised after his lover died RTD got really into faith.

If 15 remembers what Fugitive did, then 13, 14 or 15 opened the fobwatch.

Or RTD just forgot about it

Nobody actually remembers how The Flux ended

This implies RTD watches anyone else's work besides his own. At least Colin Baker not watching 7th was justified by what the BBC did to him. RTD is just a fucking pathetic, egotistical jocker. I will never trust that man after what he did to Christopher Eccleston

Remastering/remaking a prequel to Battlefield with an 8th+ regeneration Doctor.

good idea, if it was done right I wouldn't mind seeing the Doctor become Merlin.

Explaining what happened to the 6th after his regeneration/exploring the Valeyard more

I would too, they could come up with proper backstory for the Valeyard, I always thought it would be more interesting if the Valeyard was an anti-hero rather than a evil doctor (we've got the master for that).

Making The Dark Samurai story into reality

sounds like weeb fantasy but old Japan could be kino.

Making that American Civil War episode proposed for Season 2

You don't want that now, you know they would depict the Confederates as dumb rednecks, cartoonishly evil.

Guessing it’ll be another episode where they turn up the campiness to maximum to make up for the lack of a good story

RTD is a boomer so even though he's a pure degenerate leftist faggot, he still doesn't quite "get" modern woke trends. For example, he thought transgender and nonbinary were the same thing. So he ends up making commentaries that are completely tone deaf or are accidentally based because he's a retarded boomer who grew up in 1970's Wales and who's knowledge of lgbt shit doesn't extend past Canal Street in 90's.

Ironic that an episode about ‘the power of stories’ had a plot that was an incomprehensible mess.

Remember all those anons back in 2021 who said

NEW RTD ERA WON'T BE WOKE! BECAUSE HE WASN'T WOKE BACK IN 2005 BY 2021 STANDARDS! IT'LL BE GOOD! YOU'LL SEE!

I always thought it would be more interesting if the Valeyard was an anti-hero rather than a evil doctor

A Dark Doctor?

When the hell did the doctor have the time to do this whole black heritage fire saving thing between bigeneration and ruby and straight into belinda?

The Doc not tapping that will always be gay as fuck. Why the fuck did they make him some sexless weirdo?

Thanks for the feedback.

The Dark Samurai is set in 19th century Japan and was originally a 5th Doctor story with Teegan, Turlough, and Kamelion.

The plot was centered around a daimyo resistant to change and being extremly mad about the Perry Expedition. The Doctor tries to win his favor to recover the key to the TARDIS, causing an ally of the daimyo to think he turned traitor. Thus resulting in a climatic samurai battle with the Doctor feeling as if his attempts of diplomacy cause the deaths of hundreds of men. Pretty dark episode that was sadly left out of season 21. I'd have taken that over The Awakening.

But that's stupid because 4 and Romana were definitely making the TARDIS rock every night.

with the Doctor feeling as if his attempts of diplomacy cause the deaths of hundreds of men

Why is this dude so fucking lame? This diplomatic shit sucks. FIGHT

JNT saw it as a compromise for the LGBT+ and Far Right extremists.

No sex? He's either seen then as a faithful husband to conservative fans that knew about the 1st Doctor and his granddaughter or liberals would see an Aromantic (no romantic attraction) icon.

reminder that the Doctor already won the Galactic Eurovision by playing spoons.
it's canon.

5th Doctor continues to be a pussy pushover who pouts when everyone in the story dies

Maybe it's the whole shorter season thing. But I really can't see what outside of Conrad, the last 2 seasons of build up has been about when it comes to getting Mrs Flood goals to get well, achieved.
All Mrs Flood does for two seasons is show up on screen. Spout some meta fore-shadowing. And then dips.
Then there's the whole bit at the end of last season where she dies for a a while.
And that's not even going into how this is all supposed to be set up for the return of the Rani and Omega if leaks are correct.
Instead we're just constantly getting slapped with Russel's Pantheon bullshit which seemingly time and time again is going no-where even despite Sutekh last season and the two season long true arc of Mrs Flood shit is just.. Happening? And keeps happening?
With nothing tying the whole Pantheon bullshit and Mrs Flood stuff together so far other than people speculating oh wait, she's a member of the pantheon all along!
I'd rather just have the Trickster back at this point desu

The Timeless Child feels like something a nerdy child Chibnall came up with to explain the Morbius Doctors

yes, but he still stole that from other former nerdy children who wrote it first in the EU.

The shorter seasons have been detrimental to NuWho for sure.
First it was 13. Half of an American TV season at the time. Not bad.
Then it was 12. One less, barely made a difference.
Then it was 10. Okay, getting kind of shit here.
Now it's 8.

Why'd they never try to get them together in the books or audios? They had all that time before New Who came on.

8 episodes a season isn't enough time for things to breathe and the pacing feels off as a result

Okay when you put it like that, yeah it does sound like another version of Warriors of the Deep.

If I ever rewrote it myself, I would've had the Doctor not be the one responsible for the ally declaring war and instead have it be a companion trying and failing to change history. Maybe trying to win sympathy for the British. Maybe even breaking the rules of time travel and trying to teach the daimyo a secret tactic or technological advancement that Japan shouldn't knoe about yet in the hopes of getting the daimyo's favor for the TARDIS key.

Then near the end of the episode, have the Doctor threaten to return that companion home with a memory wipe if they ever do something like that again. Something that would have long term consequences on the dynamic between the Doctor and his companions for the rest of the season or at least remind the audience he's a fucking alien, not a goofy human who thinks everything is a joke.

He probably genuinely likes The Timeless Child as an idea. It’s one of the biggest differences between his second era and the first. Back in 2005 he wasn’t surrounded by so many ‘yes men’ and had people around him who’d filter out the more retarded ideas. Now he’s just doing what he likes, with an ego much larger than it was 20 years ago.

shorter seasons means higher budget for each episode. in theory it should be better and avoid all the shitty filler episodes from RTD1 and Moffat era, and also reduce the number of episodes set on Earth. but that would be only if the writers were competent in the first place.

I know, it sucks, they have to cram so much into so little.
Belabia Cumdra goes from hating the Doctor for essentially kidnapping her, to absolutely trusting him and being all huggy, in like, five seconds.

taboo.
the EU writers were even more anti-sex than JNT, so much that they made ALL Time Lords infertile, and ridiculed the TVM countless times for having 8 kiss a girl out of nowhere.

Just explain it as a separate regeneration cycle. We only saw 8 of those Doctors because the machine blew up. There could've easily been 5 more after.

I still remember people hoping that in The Well, she'd at least get scared/upset to the point she's like "Yeah you might be a good guy, but I can't handle traveling in the TARDIS" Even fucking Watch Mojo's Doctor Who shit was upset about her willingness.

eternal reminder

What a bunch of dorks.

shorter seasons means higher budget for each episode.

My understanding was that they shortened them because the initial distribution deal with Disney was for a total production of 26 episodes, split between:

3 60th anniversary specials

2 Christmas specials

8 episode S1

8 episode S2

5 episodes of UNIT spin-of

that's basically what the EU does except it's much more clever.

The pantheon stuff is probably just leading up to him finding out he’s in a TV show in the finale.

she barely even did anything in that ep

I was watching a Doctor Who youtuber and apparently there's a theory that all the pantheon members are summoned by fucking spoons or at least spoons are involved in their story at some point.

Can anyone vouch for this? Or is it another "Every serial killer reads The Catcher in the Rye" bullshit theory.

that's basically what the EU does except it's much more convoluted.

FTFY

so much that they made ALL Time Lords infertile

Because they noticed there weren't any kids running around when we'd see Gallifrey and their autism took over. Kids weren't there because they weren't relevant to the story, but those nerds didnt think of that.

anon, you need to realise that producing 10 sci-fi stories every year on a BBC budget is deeply unsustainable, and has always been. there's a good reason why Classic only had 5-6. this is one of the main reasons why NuWho has so many episodes set on Earth, to save money. the other is that none of the showrunners really care about sci-fi. they only want to write dramas but with arbitrary rules.
NuWho's format has never been suitable to reach the longevity of Classic, and certainly not with these guys in charge.

anon, you need to realise that producing 10 sci-fi stories every year on a BBC budget is deeply unsustainable

Yeah, which is why they had to approach Disney to get it joint-funded, like I just described?

I think it was mostly a way to make the Time Lords even more deeply stagnant. they can't even renew themselves through their children, because they're all some kind of clones.

If the writers for the 7th stuck with Ray over Ace, do you think she would've made for a good companion in the long run?

RayandDoc.png - 414x593, 474.59K

yes, but with nu-RTD in charge they cast pearls before swines.
even old RTD would have used the extra money to buy better CGI and raise his own salary instead of hiring better writers.

We can boost the scanner shit by going to a market in africa

its the biggest heap of trash tech so it makes sense

ugh

Yes, she was peak qt

Ace was the stimulant that made a whole new generation of writers take interest with Doctor Who. she's basically the reason why the EU exists.

RTD got arrogant and thought it was going to be like the MCU so spent a big part of that money on the upcoming spinoff about Sea Devils

I hope the sea devil costumes look better than the ones from Jodi's special

Honestly, spending 5 eps on a UNIT spin-off is a fairly sound idea from an economical standpoint. All contemporary Earth, and the few big-budget things you really need to invest in can have their costs spread across the multiple earlier episodes which feature UNIT
It's just that no one actually fucking cares about the current incarnation of UNIT

tell stories to power a giant robot spider

robot anansi?

At least Nguti doesn't look like he's asleep at the wheel. Both eras suck though, I pretty much gave up on RTD2.

Anansi is real, and the guy operating the giant robot spider pretended to be Anansi, but it turns out he was lying and Anansi's actually best mates with the Doctor, this guy's just some dude Anansi (as well as a fuckload of other gods) got to spread stories on his behalf

I was kind of expecting Anansi. My expectations were well and truly subverted

Anansi.jpg - 1280x720, 79.29K

Wait, they brought back the black bitch doctor. When the fuck is she supposed to have happened?

And no that story wont be fucking finished. Shows getting cancelled

No, a minion and his ugly daughter

So does the doctor now remember all his past lives since he remembers anansi's daughter from when he was the fugitive

Wait, they brought back the black bitch doctor.

I really don't understand why they are doing all this when they specifically reset series counter.

I wonder if they reference this

Untitled.jpg - 600x600, 172.54K

If he remembers the Fugitive Doctor why was he all "this is the first time I'm black" when talking to Booblinda?

When the fuck is she supposed to have happened?

Pre-Hartnell.

I feel like we're probably just gonna get a Jo Martin spinoff/one-off Xmas special at some point while they figure out what to do for a next Doctor now that Gatwa's leaving.
Russel's probably keeping her close just as a back up if they can't get a new Doctor next year and Disney does or doesn't renew anything during the final 5 sea devil episodes.

I though they retconned it to be between Troughton and Pertwee to explain her TARDIS

Will Skaro submit an entry to the Intergalactic Song Contest?
The entirety of RTD2 will be worth it if the subplot is people protesting against singing Daleks and the contest producers saying that Skaro has the right to defend itself, even though Mondas was banned for less.

Should've had that UNIT spin-off during the Fourth Doctor's era.

this is fucking awful lol

Why tf did they show the future Doctors?

Because all the fanmade ones did and they thought the fans would like it.

Cause fanservice.
I guess if you wanna stretch it and given Russel's fully into Timeless Child and this was approved under him. You could make the argument that this is just further evidence of Timeless Child with the Time Lords more or less getting the show-case which regenerations the Doctor gets to have that they've given him.
Even though that doesn't really make any sense with Capaldi and Jodie being there as it was a new cycle.

Jokes. The BBC doesn't understand people did that a fucking joke. This is like Sony rereleasing Morbius to theaters. How can a company be this socially braindead.

Shit, I finally recognised where they got that shot from (Spearhead ep 4, the word he's actually mouthing that they've dubbed over is, "facsimile?")
Self-indulgence

So the plot of this episode would have it that before this bad guy created the nexus, which the gods then use, the gods didn't have a very strong connection to humans? The humans of Earth, that is, yet this nexus is located, um, "in space" (so!ewhere). And he was able to achieve this incredible feat, and become immortal, because he...knew Anansi? Studied really hard?

that's king of honouring the ethnicity of our Doctor. So actually, it felt like Jo Martin was missing.

Kek. 'It's the African episode, get the black woman back'.

From what I remember the black guy helped the gods by telling their stories, publishing books ,etc then he automated the process and found himself redundant.
I assume the gods made him immortal

Be Nigerian

Make gods real woth RTD's approval

Instead of Anansi being thr villian, it's a random black man who learned magic somehow

Magic being canon

Make Ncuti Gatwa say he feels loved in Africa despite the shit his family went through in Rwanda

Set in a barbershop because it's the only place the wroter feels comfortable writing about

Barbershop is being seen as racist instead of the original intent

Is this NuWho's Talons of Weng Chen?

They did it extremely lazily too. It wouldn't have been hard to find closeup shots of their faces if they really wanted to, instead of getting promo pics in full Doctor costumes.
The VFX team are full of random fans plucked from twitter who are obsessed with inserting fanwanky shit like this, by the way. The Doctor lineup from Rogue was also like this, with all the pictures clearly picked from Google images which is why the shot of Pertwee in that episode is a random screenshot from Dimensions in Time. The person behind it was also bragging on twitter about how they inserted Grant into the lineup for no reason other than the meme of it. They genuinely put zero thought into this stuff and their only consideration is "haha it will make Tardis Wiki blow up lol".

I would definitely not call you a retard for that.

Doctor says he love that one shop because it feels like home since he became black, Love the people.

Gets upset that they needed his help

Doctor supposedly can't remember his past lives when he was with the agency, or before Hartnel

Remembers his time as the fugitive doctor and getting a bride

Even if someone were to think that timeless child was not retarded, you still have to remember the pants way it was first shown as metaphorically happening to some policeman in old timey Ireland, for...reasons.

Much of the episode, but particularly this bit, felt like an exposition dump.

I mentioned all the exposition last thread. Which I wouldn't even mind if any of the exposition was any good. It was not.

RTD; Inua. The great joy of working with Inua Ellams. I went to the National. I saw his play, The Barbershop Chronicles. And I went to see that I loved that play. So I wanted to work with Inua. I thought that was a great mind. I couldn't stop thinking what about if the Doctor walked into that Barbershop? It's one of the great joys of my life. We made this work.

Inua: The stage play is called Barbershop Chronicles and it's tangentially related to this, but none of the characters in that play are here. So these are all new characters, with little hints towards the world of my play. The only thing that exists in both as a connective tissue is the idea of telling stories, the idea of camaraderie and brotherhood between the men.

file.png - 652x1000, 1021.7K

So he ends up making commentaries that are completely tone deaf or are accidentally based

Reminder that Belinda said one of the things that makes you most human is wanting to spend time exclusively with your own race.

goes to watch a play

"wow, wouldn't it be cool if this was Doctor Who?"

It must be terrible being RTD

So.. Did RTD pick a black Doctor because he wanted to do this episode then?

The original plan was to get Tennant to blackface but he bailed at the last minute

theguardian.com/stage/2020/may/13/inua-ellams-barber-shop-chronicles-national-theatre-at-home

This was a way of exploring the issues in a safe space and barber shops, for British black men, are a safe, sacred place where they can go to relax, escape racism and talk freely with no fear of being stopped, questioned or moved on by the police, which is a common experience in the world outside.

ngl I've been all over the country I don't remember ever being questioned or told to move on by the police, the only beef I've ever had was with community support officers who used to get vex about people riding bikes on the pavement

I've never heard of these. What are they?

I didn't like how right from the start (well, a few minutes in to first episode) she was just 'Well, this extremely dangerous situation is quite annoying' (were her flatmates dead by then? Or just a cat or something?)

As much as I like Donna as a companion I cannot fault that guy for immediately turning on humanity the first chance he got for some galactic spider-puss. She even laughed at his bad jokes

Maybe he should have needed rare earth metals procured by child slaves instead.

The cat was killed. But she had also seen several people killed by the robots including her ex. And then she felt guilty for 'killing' 3 people in Lux

UNIT is now beloved by the British public, second only to the NHS (as of last week).

I've fucking had enough of this weird fantasy magic stuff

Did they ever explain why the world got over the Giggle? Weren't people murdered during it? We saw a plane literally crash and fires everywhere.

the guy claimed to have been both Saga and Loki? Aren't they both from the same mythology

They'll explain that as soon as they explain who Beep the Meep's boss was. Never.

Yes

"It's the first time I've had this black body".
Guess he should have put more emphasis on THIS. But your point stands.

I'll explain it later

then he automated the process

By becoming a mega-genius techno-mage...SOMEHOW.

it's tangentially related to this, but none of the characters in that play are here.

Oh just think what we missed out on.

good point. how does he remember the thing with Anansi(?)'s daughter if he's not supposed to remember that incarnation at all

I personally prefer that the entire species is so deeply rooted and connected to the Web of time that they intentionally stay stagnant to not cause countless fuck ups with the Web

ReTarD's Easter eggs have been a bit rushed and lame. All the Mrs Flood stuff has become boring and raises too many questions that will probably never be answered. It's more than likely she will be carried over into the spin-off series. The ground work for the spin-off was made in the last episode, establishing UNIT as an import entity in keeping the world safe and introducing the evil white man that will pull the strings in the background with the help of Mrs Flood. At the end of that episode, the evil white guy asked the Doctor where Belinda was, or if the Doctor had even met her yet... how could he possibly know about her? The re-introduction of the fugitive Doctor in the last episode, establishing a history with one of the characters that we don't know about, eludes to her being the guest Doctor that will be involved with UNIT and the spin-off. The spin-off will be a desperate attempt to tie up all the loose ends from these last two seasons, but will ultimately fail.

At the end of that episode, the evil white guy asked the Doctor where Belinda was, or if the Doctor had even met her yet... how could he possibly know about her?

The first fucking scene of the episode, mate

The first fucking scene of the episode, mate

NTA, but the timeline's even funnier considering.

Conrad and Doctor clash in the Tardis

Doctor chews out Conrad for being a meanie and putting the people he cares for in danger

Conrad spoils Bellinda to the Doctor

Doctor then runs off to go search for who Bellinda is

Arrives at the hospital Bellinda works out

Proceeds to accidentally kill so many people on life-support

that would get me to watch, ngl

billions must die

the ultimate chudcel

Oh right I forgot about that scene when he was a kid. Still though, the Doctor didn't seem to know who she was at the end of the ep.

Christopher Eccleston was raped by Russel T. Davies in the sweltering hot summer of 2005.

The 9th and 10th Doctor eras were some sort of intense early 2000s kino. It's too good.

people just lived in that early 2000s time.
damn. This is such a bittersweet weird little world.

Still though, the Doctor didn't seem to know who she was at the end of the ep.

Because the Doctor when lecturing Conrad was post last season but pre this season.

OI NIGGERS ARE DYING ON THE TV I'M TRYING TO WANK!

Jesus, Russell!

What channel is this on again?

HBO MAX streams the stuff which came before the Disney Who stuff.

between Troughton and Pertwee

That's the Devious Doctor

The Episode where the 11th Doctor met the Tardis was so sad.
