The only thing about Star Trek that I find hard to believe is that in the future space ships would have wall to wall carpeting

why wouldn't they?

It adds a sense of hospitality given that they're there for such a long time. Beats the claustrophobia of a more sterile looking environment.

WHY DON’T YOU

I’d have preferred exposed bricks

OP is a fag. of course they would be carpeted. gene and co werent perfect but they put thought into everything on screen. carpeting, along with things like simulating earth day cycle is critical for comfort and sanity when most of the crew will only get off the ship a handful of times over 5 years.
the sleek applestore shit is an illogical extension of the current need to strip everything down to basics because of the extreme wieght and space restrictions of our technology. as the restrictions are resolved our space ships will become more comfy

in space you still need a janny

um SPILLS??

Holodeck turn off retro carpet filter.
Replace with zoomer microplastics soijack print.

exposed bricks is the kind of joke that would make the orville salvagable. making it a more of a zany parody would probably knock down some copywrite walls as well. only paramount can write new spock but anyone can lampoon old spock

laugh at this faggot who has never seen carpet in a hotel or office building. its basically peel and stick strips so they can easily swap out any bit that gets fucked

it's probably futuristic spill-resistent carpet tbf

Really? Not the fact all the consoles had only unlabeled buttons and switches with no screens giving feedback? How did anybody know what did what and how could they tell what they'd pressed was having any effect?

take a battleship tour sometime, numbnuts. theyre not build for retards to figure out on the fly. theyre built to be operated by hundreds of trained specialists working in concert.

It was meant to look like old aircraft controls but the problem is on the aircraft everything is written under the buttons, but on the show they didn't count on high resolution being available to see that nothing is written.

this guy treks

kek some ADHD Anon should be there just bashing buttons to figure out what it does...I mean thats what Id do.

Look up what most carpet is made of.
Go ahead, we’ll wait.

I actually would be impressed by this if it were intentional. My head canon being that the controls are so high level and streamlined in futuristic ways that one can conduct complex operations with only a few physical manipulations. Think of it like a diesel electric locomotive versus a steam locomotive, but after centuries of refinement.

Looks like my Dentist's office.

Carpets hold onto heat better, plus they don't do that sticky shit when you shine a laminate floor.

Could be comfy. Just use the surface of the bricks and cement so it’s only a few millimeters thick. An urban aesthetic on a spaceship is more realistic. There should also be an active police force given how big the population of the ship is. Sidewalks and roadways would allow people to travel faster on scooters or bicycles cause those ships are pretty big

They have replicators so they could just replicate new wool carpets throughout the ship every day. All the arguments against carpeting are destroyed by future space tech

just beam the stain into space retard

Space dust would get all over it.

In the UK it's only poorfags who don't have carpeting because they can't afford to replace them/get them cleaned. Carpets are kino

future space ships would have wall to wall carpeting

Its a practical concern.
If they're carpeted floor you wont hear the actors heel's clicking against the tile or concrete floor any time you have a scene where they're walking down the hall.

there were no replicators in TOS

Nerd

Well they probably have some kind of space carpet cleaning tech or the carpets are holograms.

Good point. I never did see ensin Consuelo use the vacuum once! Not once! Those carpets would be black from filth in a few days.

They had carpets on the bridge in TNG. The star trek sets were made up of plywood walls that could be quickly set up and taken down the floor of the stage had to be covered with something and carpeting was easy to roll out.

Forgot pic.

I once had a carpeted kitchen.

Ask me anything.

I once lived in a place with a half-carpeted bathroom. It was back in my binge drinking days and it was comfy: I could pass out on lush, shag carpet mere feet from the bowl

It’s actually not a carpet, it’s a self-cleaning floor that just looks like a carpet

The lotus effect refers to self-cleaning properties that are a result of ultrahydrophobicity as exhibited by the leaves of Nelumbo, the lotus flower.

no screens giving feedback

Yeah. What a crazy, insane world that would be!

How did they simulate earth day cycle since they were in Space? Like the windows had fake views with day/night cycles?

Didn't the Enterprise crew operate on three 8-hour shifts? No need to simulate day/night cycles, if this is the case.

I remember watching The Motion Picture and being fascinated by the graphics on Spock's and Uhura's little oval screens at their consoles

wood paneling, wood paneling everywhere

Retard

carpeting becomes disgusting very quickly. this is known

Retard

They also generate static electricity which may not be helpful when working on EPS conduits full of rocks or whatever the fuck exploded in some redshirt's face once a week
