Why is Ash so irritating in this

I can't blame him.

I rewatched Evil Dead recently and man what a quaint little b-horror movie it would be if the entire Ash saga sequels never existed.

Evil Dead is my favorite horror movie but Ash vs Evil Dead is dogshit. It's not Evil Dead, it's a fucking parody of Evil Dead. I get ED2 incorporates slapstick elements and some minor moments of humor. Even AoD is practically a comedy fantasy movie, but the show's tone is just way too heavy handed on the goofy shit to the point where none of the horror works. The other main 2 retards that follow Ash around are annoying as shit and add no entertainment value to the story. Their existence fucks with the already established dynamic of Ash having to deal with all this bullshit alone and slowly falling into the madness over time. There are no stakes ever because you know for a fact nothing bad is ever going to happen to the faggot Mexican and annoying jew broad. It wasn't like that in the old movies where everything Ash cared about always dies leaving him to deal with everything as a sole survivor to take on this demonic entity. Even when the show does finally kill off one of the characters like Pablo for example, a few episodes later they do some bullshit time travel nonsense to save him. It's all just so fucking stupid. Ash is a loser, the CGI in it is terrible, the villains are all forgettable, there are no real moments of horror and instead is an over-the-top comedy.

It's fucking bullshit that the "horror" Evil Dead we get is exclusive to reboots and spin-offs movies while the "main" timeline or whatever is stuck in this goofball limbo filled with slapstick and quips like a shitty Mavel movie. Fuck that show and anyone who pretends it was good.

There's a lot of congoing celebs and "e-celebs" who are oddly bitchy. I was at Zenkaicon a month or two ago and ProZD was there. I saw him walking to his booth while looking around the artist alley and he had about 4 bouncers and a massive scowl on his face. He glared directly at me and I smiled and waved and then he just looked off into the distance. Was very odd. Maybe he was hungover.

That's been his personality at cons since the 2000's. Part of the experience was to have him be an asshole to you.

He was more of a baseboard for Ash to launch jokes off of. More conceptually funny than haha funny.
Also he was really fun to play in the game. Shame it was doomed to die like any other non-DBD multiplayer horror game.

That was Tom Savini for me. I had been obsessed with his work for probably about 15 years by the time I ran into him at a con (Horrorhound Weekend, coincidentally), and he couldn't not have been more disinterested to talk to a fan.

George Romero, Ken Foree, Sid Haig, and Bill Mosley couldn't have been cooler though. Horrohound did an Aliens reunion the following year too (including Sigourney Weaver, iirc), but I didn't get to go, unfortunately.

As mediocre as Ash vs ED was, it was still more entertaining than this snoozefest.

He was very tired and very old by then, but he still had a smile, and a laugh when I said Day was my favorite. I waited in line three hours just to get to shake his hand. I bought a "Zombies Don't Run" bumper sticker from his booth too.

When I was 15 or 16 the original Dawn of the Dead cast was at a local convention, but it cost too much to meet them. That's also when I learned it cost money to meet people at conventions.

It at least wasn't offensively bad like I thought it was going to be. 2013 was waaay better though.

I watched about ten minutes of this shit and turned it the fuck off. It's fucking terrible, I was so disappointed. I didn't really like The Evil Dead 2 much and I never bothered watching Army of Darkness because it looks stupid, so maybe this appeals to fans of Army of Darkness? I don't know

Feels like there's a lot of implication that Evil Dead 2 being somewhat humorous is why this show is shit? I don't get the argument.
The humor in Evil Dead 2 isn't to its detriment, a lot of it compliments the horror by using it to the effect of torturing Ash psychologically, using it as a tonal indicator about how the whole situation is driving him mad, and that creates a bit of an unnerving contrast to the straight horror elements, while the show's humor just feels self-fellating and pointless, making Ash the butt of the joke because he's a loser now and trying to force EPIC funni moments that would get engagement on Reddit.
