Why have we never seen this before?
Why have we never seen this before?
Cthulu is defeated by a boat
Why does Cthulu have wings? No other sea creatures do. Can he even fly with that mass?
Toho has more dignity than that.
this would drive autistic powerscalers to the brink of insanity
i saw it on Anon Babble five minutes ago.
no other sea creatures have wings
what the fuck do you think fins are dumbass
he isn't really described in the books, him looking that way is artists making it up
the fuck
he's described exactly this way in the first story, the guy has a lil statuette of him
Post it then
Lovecraft is a mediocre wirter. He wasn't ahead of his time, he isn't relevant today, on contrary, a product of his time through and through.
He didn't invent "cosmic horror", and only a handful of his works actually touch upon this subject. He wasn't much into abstract scares either, loads of his stories are essentially creature features. Literally made pulp fiction.
It was absolutely justified that he wasn't much popular back in the day. His modern re-evaluation is a total meme and the term "lovecraftian" has nothing to do with actual Lovecraft work.
Above these apparent hieroglyphics was a figure of evidently pictorial intent, though its impressionistic execution forbade a very clear idea of its nature. It seemed to be a sort of monster, or symbol representing a monster, of a form which only a diseased fancy could conceive. If I say that my somewhat extravagant imagination yielded simultaneous pictures of an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature, I shall not be unfaithful to the spirit of the thing. A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque and scaly body with rudimentary wings; but it was the general outline of the whole which made it most shockingly frightful. Behind the figure was a vague suggestion of a Cyclopean architectural background.
rudimentary wings
because cthulhu isn't a pro-wrestler. He doesn't do match ups.
i made it up. it ACTUALLY says Cthulhu is so indescribably non-euclidian, a statuette of him would render men mad.
sorry anon i just wanted to feel like a big man on Anon Babble ;__;
Toho has more dignity than that.
rudimentary wings
enormous clawed bat wings
Pick 1.
sir dipshit faggot, the cthulhu is one of the few creatures that lovecraft actually drew.
Okay, here's another one about the figurine mentioned before
The figure, which was finally passed slowly from man to man for close and careful study, was between seven and eight inches in height, and of exquisitely artistic workmanship. It represented a monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind. This thing, which seemed instinct with a fearsome and unnatural malignancy, was of a somewhat bloated corpulence, and squatted evilly on a rectangular block or pedestal covered with undecipherable characters. The tips of the wings touched the back edge of the block, the seat occupied the center, whilst the long, curved claws of the doubled-up, crouching hind legs gripped the front edge and extended a quarter of the way down toward the bottom of the pedestal. The cephalopod head was bent forward, so that the ends of the facial feelers brushed the backs of huge forepaws which clasped the croucher’s elevated knees.
long, narrow wings
Cthulhu is lame as fuck. Absolute dogshit character design.
kino overdose
bashing random monster parts together is peak design, fuck you.
If cthulu existed they would have found a way to cook and eat him by now.
He's not a sea creature he's an alien from across time and space and just happens to be in a tomb/city under the sea.
He's described in great detail like most lovecraft creatures. Usually right after the character goes "oh what unimaginable undescribable horror!"
He already solo'd hell
Oh look. I guess you can't have a thread without someone being a contrarian faggot
It's alien. I used to think the same about him and the race of Yith but those fuck spook me
Left is singles Godzilla, right is Godzilla if he gets doubles.
It's alien
Physical traits of purely terrestrial species
Fuck off.
Why does Cthulu have wings?
For the same reason the Elder Things have wings. In Lovecraft's days they thought space was filled with fluid called Aether, and Lovecraft's creatures "flew" across space with wings.
Physical
Lol you didn't read
Flew across space
When the stars were right. He mentions numerous times depending on this if causes them to be incorporeal or not which allows them to travel at light speed across time and space
it should be done then
That too. But yeah, the wings are for flying through space.
No. He's not even physical. The thing at the end of call of Cthulhu was like his third dimensional shadow or an astral projection because he was still sleeping. Plus the boat hits it and it goes poof
Do you have the next panels?
How can a giant lizard defeat a literal god?
Physical traits described as similar to those of terrestrial species. Cthulhu is never described objectively. It is the narrator's description of a carved statue.
Lovecraft is a mediocre wirter.
Correct
He wasn't ahead of his time, he isn't relevant today
Incorrect. He pioneered a collaborative effort with other writers. He created the shared universe by shared references with Clark Ashton Smith and Robert E. Howard and others. That said, more people interested in weird horror really ought to read Machen, Blackwood, and Hodgson. Earlier and better writers than Lovecraft.
By this description he walks on all fours, no?
Space Godzilla is already a cosmic horror Godzilla monster.
I love the colors here, but hate the line work.
the universe owes me a cute yith gf
