Just how bad is it compared to Man of Steel?

It's a fluffy and corny film that functions as a "week in the life of Superman" thing and has a whole fleshed-out universe that it expects you to be on board with no questions. Bradley Cooper shows up as Superman's dad in the beginning. Lex Luthor is a huge bitch hamming it up even worse than the one in BvS. Corenswet's Superman is a complete faggot who doesn't act any differently as Superman and cries a bunch. Completely pussy whipped by Lois Lane. It was embarassing to see. The other heroes show up for very little, compared to the marketing. Ultraman is a dindu nuffin victim by the end despite killing a bunch of people and maiming Superman. Supergirl shows up in the end girlbossing Superman around. Nothing worthy of spoiling because THERE IS NO REAL PLOT. feels like I watched a meaningless cartoon but in live-action. He just defeats a bunch of Lex goons and plans and then the movie ends. It's a complete joke.
One is a movie and the other is a cartoon. In the worst ways.

Similarly, Fantastic Four looks to be a more sincere, heart-on-it’s-sleeve, rough-edges-sanded-down, take on its source material as well. Focus on them as a family, Johnny no longer being a womanizer, Sue being maybe a little more fleshed out, etc.

Gunn likely has an extended cameo in the film. Other directors have done this in the past but only for a few seconds.

It’s pretty 50/50, I think at best it’ll edge out F4 and make a little over 550-600mil but no more then that, and also getting the public masses at least slightly interested in Supes again instead of his clones.
At worst it’ll get horrible reviews, be Gunn’s first bad movie, curse the Superman brand for another 10 years, make a max of 350 million, and all the DC projects get canceled and sold to Apple, Gunn will probably just fuck off back to marvel and keep putting his brother and wife in his movies but take a major career hit for a couple years or so

DC comic geeks just wanted a conclusion of the Knightmare timeline, and Snyder's presentation was dark enough, and Affleck was a good pick to portray Batman in that timeline. Nobody really gets excited about yet another reinterpretation of Superman or Batman.

See if I wanted to have Lex as the villain in a first Superman movie Lex has a big science project on display (inspired by Solaris I guess, some artificial sun thing) but it goes awry and that's Superman's debut when he saves the day, and Lex seethes for obvious reasons. Amanda Waller shows up, and it's not a cocktease for future things, it's terse enough. She's a gigaglowie and with a person like Superman needs to speed up metahuman research and they know the genes can be activated by trauma, so gigaglowie gives the genius Lex carte blanche to do whatever he wants to deliver the goods. He settles on the controlled destruction of Suicide Slum in Metropolis (I guess this shit does resemble the plot of InFamous to an extent, these mass destruction events activating the superhuman genes in people present whilst killing most). In the same way Lex both sees Superman as a threat to human dreams and potential but also has a very personal and petty seethe over him, destroying SS = accomplishes the task but sakes his personal trauma/hatred for that district as it's where he grew up in poverty after Lionel ruined the family's fortunes. Third act is Superman stopping the total destruction and saving people, maybe he has Parasite or Metallo to fight. Maybe the embittered Lionel actually advises Superman on the fatal flaw in the device Lex uses to destroy the SS district of the city. Gives Lex a sufficiently destructive but low scale enough plan and shows Superman doing what he does best, saving people. Maybe at the end it's like Born Again comic, where Lex is not touchable legally but him or at least his company has its reputation in tatters in the public eye

I did write 'if'. If it has to be an origin with Lex vs. everything pre-establishes, he's been Superman for a while, he and Lex already hate each other, etc. then that's what I came up with a while ago. It's not especially unique though, I'm aware, but works well enough if Lex is gonna have an evil destructive plan that isn't world ending.

Do you think you're gonna suddenly see more people claiming that BvS did it better? (Since both films have the same "Lex is whipping up military conflicts" plotline.)
