Anakin and Jar Jar both suck. But it does have its merits. Darth Maul is cool as fuck

It has some awesome scene spliced into a dogshit movie. Even the epic lightsaber battle at the end is intercut with two other shitty sequences that completely ruin the tension and pacing. Lucas is one of those auteurs who walks a fine line between genius and retarded.

It was the first sw movie I saw as a child and remains my favorite for nostalgia reasons. The whole underwater gungan scene is a warm nostalgic blanket of comfiness. But realistically all of star wars media is dog shit and I recognize my love for the prequels is based on this nostalgia

AOTC gave me lightsaber fatigue and Revenge of the Sith lightsaber fight at the end was the longest and most boring duel ever. I kept nodding off and luckily caught the tail end of it which was the only good part. Sharkboy and Lava Girl was literally more exciting than Revenge of the Zzzzzzith

It’s a terrible movie with a god tier soundtrack, great visuals, and some amazing actors. I feel like Lucas was playing Freelancer one day and thought “hey, space trade routes are cool, I’m gonna make a movie about it” and completely bungled it. I don’t know how he managed to make it such an incomprehensible mess, because the plot is actually really straightforward. The only reason I don’t consider it to be the worst in the franchise is because AOTC came out right after.

I actually have thought episode II is the best since it came out when I was a kid, I still hold that opinion
