That actor played Sarah Gadon's father once!
Because there's an inverse relationship between low rt scores and kino levels
Maryland father
so rise of skywalker is kino
yes
I'm a history fag, so the inaccuracies of the time period of mayan civilization, the arrival of the spanish, and the spread of small pox is horribly retarded. But the movie itself is kino and very fun/ inventive some shots look cheap, but i think it was made when (((they))) didn't like mel anymore so he had to fund it himself
Was the film marketed as a historically accurate period piece?
makes American Revolution kinos
makes Mesoamerican kinos
makes Christkinos
Mel is a kino-making machine
I honestly dont remember, I was too young when this was coming out, but the other adherences to historical accuracy is strange when very obvious and verifiable events are centuries apart it seems to defeat the premise and take me out of the movie, had the movie been aztecs, it literally would have ben fine, so idon't know why they choose to do it like this. Nitpicking that aside, if it leaned harder into alt history I would have been cooler with it, also if they replaced the conqistidors with arabs from al andoluz spain (not a shitskin, just a history fag)
peaceful hunter gatherers get abducted by nightmarish borderline 300-style super civilization that sacrifices you to their obscene blood gods
Absolute kinomography. Critics either hated it because of unfounded racism accusations, or because they're too prissy to enjoy a little violence.
True MEN will love this movie. Its not for wine sippers.
How did they make this film? Where did they find thousands of mayan looking people with huge gauges in their ears and disturbing piercings all over them? Where was the Aztec sacrificial alter shot at?
pure kino
Yeah the main criticism is that it wasn't depicting the right flavor of savages. But that's something I'm willing to overlook because the movie wasn't about accuracy it was about a man fighting for his family against unspeakable evil. You could have made the same story in medieval europe or subsahara africa so that's not reason enough to dismiss this kino.
How did they make this film?
Mel Gibson said, Let there be kino: and there was kino.
pol meetup
From what I remember, they basically hired a small mexican village, most of whom weren't actors but they got so into it because of the sets and elaborate costumes that they still ended up doing a pretty decent job. They built the sacrificial pyramid on set.
Definitely played up the period/cultural aspects but wasn't meant to be a "true story" or anything.
I took it as a mashup of Mayan/Aztec culture. Was it ever explicitated what people it was?
65% RT score means 65% of the reviews were positive.
Contrary to popular belief, the number has nothing to do with averages, though that information is available on the website if you want to view it.
Hope this helps.
im pretending to be a hands on filmmaker!!!
Guaranteed he shot this at the end of the day for the sole purpose of a photoshoot
Ancient blood memory. They weren't acting that was what their genes wanted them to do.
Apocalypto and The New World are two of the kinoest of kinos when it comes to "the savages"
why are his nipples so activated? did he just get done breastfeeding?
I don't see how "critics" love the Dev Patel Green Knight but hate Apocalypto. They are the same genre
Just like the Northman desu
are you thinking about apocalypse now? apocalypto is a chase movie and nothing like green knight
I don't care how much it triggers you autists: it's a historical film that gives us insight into a period of history we never get to see. I don't care if it's mythological or propaganda, seeing depictions of an aztec civilization on film was fucking cool and unique and the film is bad ass to the core. You retards do realize nothing in film is accurate or happened right? Even fucking WW2 movies about real battles referencing real people are fictional bullshit that leaves out inconvenient truths or shit that fucks with the propaganda. You'll never see the Brave Heroic Men of the US military there to liberate Europe from fascism mock darkie gravediggers as they marched by or talk about how they shouldn't be fighting Germans but should be killing Japs and Russians instead.
Stop being autistic retards.
many white reviewers cried racism while latinos and meso americans loved this movie
Where did they find thousands of mayan looking people
In the places where millions of maya people live?
Proof that he's modern man acting as savage man.
I smoked weed with the old professor lady who wrote the Aztec language for the script. She was a trip, a true example of a high IQ white. I still wish I would’ve hung out with her more. Bitch lived like Amelia Earhart with constant globe trotting adventures.
shut your fucking mouth, you little faggot
don't you dare disrespect Mel
there were still mayan city states in the northern yucatan (whree conquistadors would've first encountered the maya) right into the 1600s
imagine the best film ever made
now imagine that the best film ever made was based on true events
flip a coin, heads means it happened like that, tails means it's all made up
while the coin is in the air, is it a good movie or not?
though that information is available on the website if you want to view it
Check again, buddy.
what if the coin lands on its side? is it a Uwe boll film? check mate
those filthy mayans run everything from media to banking, what do you expect?
I fucking HATE when they make our leaders touch the pyramid and eat maize.
me caga que los japoneses me hagan tocar el monte fuji y jurar lealtad a el escudo japones
市コムのタコしぽさぉしものがふぉくぉ
That’s not deep water, it’s up to their knees. Mel is deceivingly kneeling, making it look like he’s walking. Look at the natives, they’re squatting/bent forward. They could stand up at any moment and it would be up to their knees. If they were really in chest high water running that fast they’d be swept away.
t. Femanon
Holy shit there’s a woman here?
Seeing gay shit literally gives me a visceral reaction as if I was just spooked from a jump scare in a horror movie
Coz green knight is a good movie with a wonderful dream-like tone/atmosphere and cinematography. Excellent performances, and a great ending.
Apocalypto is an extremely bog-standard revenge movie, it just happens to have a unique setting which isn't enough to make it good.
no turok 1 movie
why even live
It's still a great shot.
