Gundam as a franchise has survived so long and been revered so greatly outside of the usual tranime weeb audience because it's so much more than giant robots hitting each other.
So much of it is just sci-fi politics, morality surrounding the use of child soldiers and the toll of warfare in general. If they capture that, this film could be a masterpiece. But based on the announcement, they're literally going to just produce a discount Transformers that they try and sell using star power.

Code Geass should be a series and HEAVILY deviate from the source material to flush out the massive world it barely fucking explored.
There are so many on-screen-for-ten-seconds characters with distinctive designs that could have carried their own story archs in these 2000s nip cartoons that it is utterly maddening. Fucking go full, may Allah forgive me for uttering this world, Andor, and make a show about Lelouch balancing school life with terrorism, bouncing ideas off CC while constantly cutting to Cornelia fighting bureaucracy, budget restraints and having to deal with Clovis keepibg many of his own operations secret. Fucking actually flush out some of the mysteries that got set up and never answered. How did Clovis ever catch CC? How many people knew about her other then Bartley? What about Shirley's fucking dad, a background character who's sole purpose is to die and make Lelouch second guess himself, turning out to be one of the mad scientists who experimented on CC and never in the show is it revealed that this is who Joseph Finette actually was, a fucking Unit 731 doctor, and never does it come up in the show. What about the origins of Geass or the civilization that made the collective unconsciousness portals? What about VV being Charles' older brother? Did people forget he existed or did he fake his death? What about that photo of lil Charlie and VV standing up for him, it implies so much, like maybe Charles was VV's Nunnally and Charles had to grow into the man he is. What about Jeramiah's sister? Naota, Kallen's bro, being set up like a plot thread (he was originally supposed to be alive, suddenly him coming up so often makes so much more sense knowing this was supposed to happen).
Code Geass was a crowning achivement in golden ingots sitting in a bucket of shit. It's fucking terrible, downright awful, but absolutely unspeakable levels of kino are buried beneath the diuretic watery fathoms. Its potential was never realized.

Pretty much the entire first season could just be lelouche wiling away and doing high stakes gritty underworld gambling with rivalz and relationship with nunnally getting into debates and expounding on his background personality, motivation through flashbacks or interactions with classmates. Then end the season on him getting his power and executing all those guys after CC. Also first season could also side by side give suzaku more background and his treatment becoming an honorary brittanian.
The show is fantastic but its buried in slop and weird pacing. if it moved slower it would have been waaaay better and cut out some slop episodes
