In the early seasons Spike's British accent sounded kind of Australian, but in the later seasons I think his British accent was really good desu.

Dru was really nice to bad became villain of the week and the blonde had an arc

Spike isn't a rapist of women?

le poor women

James Marsters was so 'traumatized' at acting out a fake attempt rape scene that he had it written into his contract he will never have to engage in a scene where he sexually assaults a woman again

faggot

obvious actual predator

Nah, he's a genuine faggot who cares more about his band than anything else

Some girls have all the luck

Tony Head probably told him what he was getting wrong (a lot). Alexis Denisof on the other hand I genuinely thought had just stumbled out of Eton. His real accent sounds faker than his Wesley accent.

I'm tired of Brits lecturing American actors on their accents when none of them get it fucking right either. Americans do English better than English do Americans, for the most part.

Getting tips on how to perform better isn't "lecturing" you sperg.

There's a running conceit that Americans just cannot adequately do Brit accents which is obnoxious and wrong. It isn't difficult, and the targets of criticism are usually doing it right

It isn't difficult

I challenge any American actor to do a convincing northern accent. Actually I challenge any American actor to do a convincing accent from outside the M25.

Any American actor could, it's just there isn't any reason to.

The girls I know don't want that.

You must not have heard many Bong accents if you actually believe this.

Weird how Spike gets a pass from the fandom for commissioning a Buffy sex robot but Xander is dragged through the mud for being crass.

They probably know a Xander personally. How many of them know a 150 year old vampire with platinum blonde hair?

I know a lot of actors. They're all versatile. Not an uncommon trait. What's common is the idea that X accent can't be reliably replicated. That's just strange cultural narcissism

What band?

Maybe I will care to, if it was better than fucking cunny

The fucking OP of this thread is two people who could not reliably replicate an accent. Spike sounds like he's from ten different places and Dru sounds like she's auditioning for chitty chitty bang bang. The only people he fooled were other Americans.

James couldn’t even if he tried, for the souls of Michelle belonged to Joss after the incident…

On the contrary, Spike did very well and there was nothing wrong with Dru at all, ever. This is coming from a native English speaker.

Dru's accent quite literally does not exist anywhere in England and I already told you why Spike's is off.

Dru nailed the East End accent from where her character hailed. Your criticism of Spike is wrong - and I'll clarify here, because you seem needing of it - because there exists variation in tone and delivery even amongst native speakers. He does fine.

She nailed sounding like Dick Van Dyke. The accent James Marsters was trying to do was Tony Head's real accent, and he botches it A LOT.

variation

There's variation and then there's sounding like you're from multiple counties hundreds of miles apart. There's tons of times his real accent slips through too.

Jesus Christ all of this because I said Tony probably helped him out a little, while in the same fucking post literally praising an American for how good his accent was.

Not sure why you need to use the Lord's name in vain to argue a point.

You have to bear in mind also that these are vampires and they're old so they don't have to have modern accents so it's perfectly acceptable for them to have quirks

It's okay do some evil stuff if you're a sexy vampire
