I don’t really get why people are so incensed that a Great Depression period drama turned horror about black people has bad huwhite boys in it. They’re in sharecropper central in a historic Klan hotbed. Even then most of the black guys think the vampire guy is good at playing, they’re just wary of bringing in 3 white strangers to their brand new club they bought from a guy who’s probably a Klansman.
Now, from a real world, meta standpoint, you could question why a modern director and writing team would choose this period to make a modern racial allegory, but even then it’s not as if the white characters are all ridiculous caricatures. By happenstance of the fact that most of the characters are black, we really only get the Irish vampire (who’s portrayed semi-sympathetically, drops a crazy jig that the movie plays off as cool and otherworldly in its rhythm, and is explicitly not racist) and the klansmen. The movie would’ve looked ridiculous if they just threw in a saucy white boy who’s “down with the brothers” into the 30s for the sake of appeasing people (although it would’ve been funny if the music sequence had a white boy stanky legging or something).

And? it cost nowhere near as much. Still a success. Keep coping.

Aliens is considered an action film despite there being no action at all until about halfway through the film. Meanwhile there's two outright horror moments before they even get to the colony and pure suspenseful horror just before the aliens show up for the first time then it turns into an "action movie" where they keep getting their asses handed to them just like in Predator.

I don't understand where so many people seem to have gotten this idea from that horror movies need jump scares and gore every five minutes in order to "qualify" as a horror movie but I'm tired of seeing that stupidity everywhere online. Even now you can see those same imbeciles make comments on various websites about how Sinners isn't a horror movie for the exact same reasons, because it doesn't have that arbitrary number of horror scenes and moments to cross that imaginary threshold between "horror movie" and "non-horror movie" that they've made up in their tiny minds.

I don't want to watch it because it is 2025 and 7 years after Bumblebee was made so I doubt Hailee Steinfeld goes the whole movie without hooking up with a black guy.
