We always knew Ellie was a miscast. But her actress did a good job in part 1. S2 problem mostly comes from dogshit makeup and design for Ellie.

I was pleasantly surprised with the changes in ep2. Joel's death made sense, city defence was badass and acting was on point.

If they keep the action scene quality and have Ellie actually kill abby at the end, show will be a solid 9/10 for me.

I think that even despite the game being a mediocre misery porn for the most part, Naughty Dog had really, really nailed the ending. And sometimes a right ending can elevate the whole thing.
I still sometimes think about the "Spring" chapter, that was the high point of an otherwise chore of a game. The feeling of closeness to the finishing line, the bond between Joel and Ellie, the last choice which was totally justified wherever you think the cure would've worked or not.
Of course all of that was retroactively ruined by TLoU2, but hey, you can ignore it just fine.
