I feel like AI is turning me into an old boomer yelling at clouds. I'm in my 30s and I'm just disgusted by anything AI. It was funny at first, generative AI had some small entertainment value, but then it became oversaturated and lost the charm. Now it's being pushed everywhere and it's degrading and ruining actual human experience artform. To me, I'm now sure more than ever that you need the human mind to create worthwhile artwork. AI is missing that, and even if it wasn't it's not natural and it's not artistic expression, it's simply using visuals that already exist and making images based on something a human created.
But it gets worse, because as AI becomes more and more ubiquitous, what will happen is the AI art will stop using human created artwork as references for its own slop, but instead it will become a positive feedback loop where the AI art is just generating itself based off other AI generated art such that everything it creates is now completely alien and non-human in design. At that point we're basically at the apocalypse of human creativity, where the entire existence and purpose of being human will be replaced by some machine just making consoomable slop that is based off things other machines created. No humans involved. Then the question becomes what is the point of humankind anymore?
What is the point of watching a tv show or a movie when no human hands are going to be involved in the creative process? Human emotion, human experience, pain, suffering, loss, all things that a machine cannot fundamentally experience. What is the point of it then? We will lose ourselves and go extinct.
