Didn't you guys watch the movie? it's explicitly stated the T1000 can basically only do solid objects. It can't shapeshift into complex mechanisms or things with moving parts or chemicals. It can't even make firearms and you want an internal combustion engine?

Possibly, but then you start really screwing up history. Skynet doesn't really know what will happen if they kill John, but they prob dont want to exacerbate the issue by having the T-1000 run around LA as a liquid metal being running 30 mph some 5 years before the war is set to start.

Yes, this. The T-1000 showed multiple times to have a measure of agency. It taunted Sara after she shotgunned the fucker and it wanted her to call to John when it could have simply mimicked her voice, it smiles after killing Todd. The t-1000 can act with malice, it can fuck around it's far more human than the t-800.

I never thought about how he doesn't breathe through his mouth while running but something in my brain said he's not normal (obviously) and robots don't breathe.
It looks like he learned how to run in such a manner that you can see the emotion he's trying to act on his face. As if he needed to do this because there are so many emotions you need to convey to the camera with your face while you're running after a guy with a gun in your hand.
